Six days in early September. West coast of Turkiye. Grand Belish Hotel. - We had the lucky opportunity to wittness a very modern and state of the art hotel with rich and traditional cuisine, very friendly staff (including front desk, restaurant, aninmation team, cleaning personal, and security) and a great beach just 20 metres from the hotel ground.
General words: we had the lucky opportunity to stay at Grand Belish during Ramazan Bayramı, which marks the end of the muslim month of fasting. There were more muslim tourists (?) from Turkey, Iran and maybe other muslim countries, than from Europe or Russia (as far as we could tell). The athmosphere was relaxed, friendly and very inspiring.
Rooms: Modern interior (junior suite), nice bathroom and a small balcony for every room. Door locks are operated by a small and robust check card. The suite was well sized for two persons with seperated beds. Friendly and atentive cleaning personal. The large TV flat screen was useless though. Nice picture, but there was absolutely no reason to use it anyway :)
Hotel features: We got nearly everything that was promised: wellness area and gym (including a rather big traditional Hamam, small sauna, small gym, indoor and outdoor massage), nice beach, hotel pool, disco at roof top and animation team. More water activities are offered at the beach but only against costly fees (e.g. 1 hour speed boat 75 EUR).
Animation: During day and early night the local animation team takes care of the visitors at Grand Belish. They are offering games, sports, music and daily shows for kids as well as adults. Normally we avoid such events, but the animators at Belish were very nice people and did their job with a good sense for humor, kindness, and professionalism. Greetings to Gündem and Bora! - Because we went to Belish during Ramazan, we saw a really great dancing show (traditional folk dance and belly dance), live music during dinner (traditional turkish music) and an insane buffet! Every single staff member worked hard to make that evening something special.
Surrounding: a small market just 50 metres from the hotel offern many little things you would like to have ready at hand as a tourist: drinking water, cigarettes, wine, sun lotion etc. - Hotel Grand belish is located at the Long Beach, a really nice sand beach, going on for several miles north an south. Tourist appartments and hotels are not covering every meter beach. The Long Beach has many free spaces and was definitely not crowded. - The next big city is Kuşadası. You don't want to reach it by walk! There is one shuttle bus from the hotel every morning. We did not try it. We used public buses which operate between Davutlar and Kuşadası from 7 am til 10 pm. The ride takes 15 to 20 min and the price is very fair (2.5 lira per person one way). Taxi is also possible. Price unknown to us. - Though it was easy to go to Kuşadası, you don't have any interesting things in the closer vicinity of the Hotel. If you like to step outside the Hotel and see museums on your left and ancient ruins on the right, you propably won't find what you want at Grand Belish. - Epheus (Efes) and the Artemision are 25 kilometres away. We rent a car to get there.
Bad impressions/what we missed: The front desk/reception misses some basic tourist informations. No maps, postcards or stamps are available and information about car rental or tourist activities were a little bit 'informal'. The staff always came up with a solution, but there is room for improvement. - Furthermore we missed the promised wireless LAN. It is only accessable in the lobby and pool area but our connection failed due to wrong IP distribution. We only spent half an hour on that problem. Maybe it was our fault (yes, we got the LAN password befor we tried :).
