Myself (57)and 2 teenagers (13 /15)went with a tour guide and group by bus (booked at the hotel) to Kusadasi to have a Turkish bath. We were split into 2 groups and we went shopping for one hour then went back for the 'bath'. Was lovely. Was given cubicle with curtain to change into bikini and plastic shoes and a cloth round your body. Then taken into a 'steam room' (sauna) to sweat without the cloth for about 20 min-then a man washed your hair and pour some water over you -then we were taken into another room and we had to lie on a marble table where the man 'loafed' off all the dead skin, then you were showed into another room where you had to wait a bit. Could pour some water over yourself. Then back onto the marble table where you were 'soaped' by another man, then onto a cubicle where you were rinsed off, then after a 'slap' on the backside you could get out. Here your hair was tied back with a towel and a clean towel were given to wrap around you and you were given apple tea, then after that a photo, of course 7 lira, which they email to you, then get dressed and made your way down to the bus collection point. We had so much fun and laughter and felt refreshed and in a lighter mood after all the fun! If you are shy (of your body) and do not want to mix with all genders/ages at the same time, or let them use the same 'loafer' it is not for you. (you could pay for private loafer and soap) Would recommend it just for the fun and to experience a 'real Turkish bath' not the same as the Spa/salons offer. Also the history - was built in 1495 and oldest one in Western Turkey-Great fun and lovely memory to keep!
