my wife and i stayed at hotel fortin for 7 nights in august, we've stayed at better hotels. we've stayed at tidier hotels and we've stayed 5 star hotels, but we've never stayed at a hotel that was more caring, considerate and friendly.the 3 brothers who run the hotel (with mum and dad in the background) could not do enough to be helpful. one of the brothers even drove a guest on the back of his scooter to the bazaar at 01-30 in the morning because he had forgotten a gift and they were flying home the next day, they litteraly went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. you can have great service at 5 star hotels all over the world but this was different, it was'nt just because it was their job,it was because they cared. the hotel itself was not the best we've ever stayed in but because of its size (30 rooms) over the week we got to know most of the other guests and had a great time. the brothers all speak excellent english which helped cos like a typical brit i could'nt be bothered to learn any turkish. the hotel is also located about 10 minutes walk from the seafront which means you are close enough but without the rowdyness, the bad bits? well the rooms are'nt the biggest but you're only sleeping in them the pool and lounger area isn't the biggest either but there was always loungers and matresses available, the breakfast was'nt the best but if you're on the continent you get a continental breakfast.would i go back to hotel fortin? you try stopping me.

Room Tip: we had a room overlooking the pool but the rooms on the road side have much bigger balconies and get...

If you are looking for five star luxury with sea views this probably isn't the hotel for you. However, if you are looking for a friendly, comfortable, family run hotel, conveniently situated yet quite, in very Turkish surroundings and great value you will LOVE the Villa Fortin.
The Fortin family are just a delight, great fun and will do everything they can to make sure you have a great stay.
The hotel is about a 5-10 minute stroll from the bustling bazaars and restaurants of downtown Kussadassi which means you have access to all the fun without the noise. It is a really safe feeling area and I felt completely comfortable and safe walking back at night.
It is just 5 mins from the main Dolmush (local bus) terminus from where you can get almost anywhere for just a few Turkish Lira. So you have great and cheap access to dozens of lovely beaches (we loved Silver Sands best), Ephesus, Syringey (lovely craft village) and the beautiful national park.
The Fortin boys, Acman, Orhan and Efe will always help with advice about places to go and how to get there - they'll even make you sandwiches for you day, and you can pick up fruit (the peaches are to die for) to add to you packed lunch.
I really don't think I have anything bad to say and only wish we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: If you want air conditioning you need to email ahead as it is not available in all the rooms.

I stayed at Fortin in September 2012. It is in a fantastic spot, if you want to be at the centre of real Turkish life. While I enjoyed my stay there, I have to be honest and say the rooms were very run down, and the bathrooms even worse. It could have been cleaner and while it wasn't dirty, anyone who calls it spotless can't have much idea of what is spotless! The atmosphere was very friendly, food the best I have ever had in a Turkish hotel of this type (and I have stayed in many over the years), Fortin family really nice & helpful people. Pool area sad. Sun beds falling to bits and whole area very run down, which is a shame. The place just needs updating, rooms some T L C, and it would be great. I would stay there again, but probably not for two weeks. It is ideal for a few days though.

We have just returned from a two week stay at the Villa Fortin and have to say it is wonderful. It is run by a family - three brothers and their parents - all of whom made us feel so incredibly welcome. They are accommodating, helpful and very friendly. Not once did we witness any rude or aggressive behaviour on their part as has been mentioned on here - quite the opposite. It is ideally situated to explore Kusadasi and surrounding areas. Out of the main centre so fairly quiet, but easy enough to walk to the centre past all the shops and cafes. Easy access to dolmus stops all just a short walk away. Would say that the hotel is not suited to young children - aimed more at mature couples and not really the sort of place to spend a day by the pool. An excellent base if you want to go on any excursions or simply the beach. There appears to be a fair amount of criticism posted on here over the views from the hotel - you are in a residential area so will be overlooking shops and apartment blocks - this is typical Turkey - if you are wanting sea vistas then perhaps a more expensive seaside hotel is for you. Also the call to prayer from the mosques receives criticism on here - you are in a Muslim country so this needs to be respected. After visiting Turkey for 30 years, I have never tired of listening to this. The hotel is clean with the towels changed daily and beds every couple of days. The rooms are only basic but please consider you are only using the place as your base. We were amazed that we could get a two week stay for little more than the price of two air tickets to Turkey. If you are expecting an entertainment programme then you will be disappointed - this is only a two star rated hotel and as such offers amazing value for money. It was wonderful to spend many evenings with all the other guests all discussing our various activities of the day and offering/receiving advice on places to go and things to see.

We had a wonderful holiday. This hotel is basic but authentic, we felt like we were staying in their home. We found this villa clean enough. The breakfast was a well presented traditional Turkish buffet. This villa is in a good location and very easy to get to lots of places we didn't have to walk far at all. The buses were often and very cheap, so easy to get to whichever beach you wanted. We would recommend the boat trips...lovely, we went twice such good value.. Anyone who is considering the Villa Fortin please don't be put off by the bad reviews, unless your wanting a 4/5star hotel then pay the higher price and go elsewhere, these owners and their sons work really hard and don't deserve to get bad reviews. We thank you Villa Fortin Hotel for a lovely weeks holiday and we will be back.

Hotel

The Hotel Villa Fortin offers an authentic taste of Turkish life, and is located in Kusadasi which I would consider to be a busy TOWN in high season. The hotels location is ideal if you like getting around and being in the thick of it all. It’s near the market and the buses and is a short walk from the harbour and the shops and bars.

The hotel is a family run business; the guys are friendly, helpful and funny. I found the room to be adequate they are small but perfectly formed. The rooms are comfortable enough but they don’t have TV’s so if you want some entertainment it is worth taking a tablet or laptop and making use of the free WIFI in the bar area. The rooms were tidied every day, we were given fresh towels every day and I think the bed sheets were changed every three or four days.

Customs

The hotel is located in a Muslim country and therefore you hear the call to prayer 5 times a day. Some people have complained about the noise but I loved hearing the call to prayer which is beautiful and only lasts for 1 minute.

Dinner

If you fancy a nice dinner check out Alo 24 which is less than 5 minutes walk away from the hotel and serves nice good quality food at reasonable prices. We ended up having dinner there at least 8 times in 2 weeks.

Also try Golden Boys the food is great and the staff are upbeat and friendly. I had a Tbone one night which was very tasty and massive. Another night I had fish and chips which were also lovely.

Beach

Get the number 6 bus to Star beach (a few stops after long beach) is not as busy as some of the other beach’s and the sun loungers are spaced out a bit more. You will be charged 10TL for 2 sun loungers and an umbrella. The cafe at star beach is also nice and reasonably priced they do a wicked bowl of fruit for 5TL.

Aqua Fantasy Land

Is wicked but expensive (60 TL per person which is about £20) Pay with the rep or go on your own steam it will cost you the same. If you want to make your own way there is a free coach for the dulmos station, if you miss it will cost you 4 TL per person each way.
