well where do I begin I've been coming to this hotel for the past four years the family are great and bend over backward for you, I've had a great time again, well done lads, and have met some great people and new friends, jean and john from Ireland hope you enjoyed your breakfast on your last day, lol, oddbod1234 well what can I say, you kept that bar going, lol. they can now retire. i'll be back next year I hope , be prepared lads terry's coming, lol, I have read some of the other reviews and honestly there comment are rubbish, peteecho and ryshaz are two of them I think you should book a holiday in the middle of a desert if you want peace and quite, don't go to turkey when its Ramadan, think they must have been at some other hotel, one of these guests had a choice of two rooms when arrived after the first room asked to move to second room which they were and still moaning asked again they were moved to an air conditioned room and still complained you tell me if this a hotel that's doesn't care about there guest. other people who complain about being told to quite down should think, would you like some one to be singing out loud and swearing at 2,3,4, in the morning out side your house don't think so, so have some respect for the local people, well that's my moaning over with, and thanks again to akman, oran, and efe o and papa fortin, lol,

My sister and I stayed here in mid-July of 2013 and had one of the most relaxing and easy breaks we've ever had. As two young females travelling alone, we have had experience in the past of feeling a little vulnerable - this however was not the case at Hotel Villa Fortin. From the first day we felt safe and looked after by each of the three brothers (and their dad), and their concern for our well-being and enjoyment was exceptional.

The hotel itself is just outside of the big town of Kusadasi, which was ideal for us. Having read some previous reviews I feel it is necessary to point out that this is a small, family run hotel that is most suitable for young couples, small groups of friends and those wanting to explore the more authentic side of Turkey. It is not a 'resort' style hotel and therefore has none of the features of one such as entertainment or all inclusive style service. Having said that, the hotel owners served drinks and snacks in the bar area untill the very small hours and were constantly on hand to ensure that you had everything you needed.

Our room was cleaned daily and we were provided with fresh towels each day. Our room was perfectly adequate for our needs and we were given the option of two different rooms when checking in and asked which we'd prefer. We chose one that had a balcony looking over the swimming pool and found it to be perfectly cool at nights, without air con. For the price you pay I'd say these rooms are excellent value and both my sister and I were very pleased with our accomodation. We never went to breakfast as we were usually up and exploring quite early but we were told by other guests that it was a usual, traditional Turkish breakfast.

The hotel owners were, without exception, brilliant. We have never stayed somewhere with such attentive and hard-working staff before. They continually found ways to make us feel welcome (bringing us ice for our drinks by the pool, offering us a choice of two bedrooms, giving us snacks when we got in at night time etc) and we never experienced anything other than fantastic hospitality. There was an issue one night around a group of guests making noise until 5am, which kept a lot of the other guests awake. The eldest brother handled this situation tactfully and professionally and in doing so, ensured that we weren't disrupted again ( we were very grateful for this). The oldest brother in particular is an encyclopedia of local knowledge which we tapped in to reguarly. He was able to recommend the best, most tradtional Turkish restaurants (which happened to be our favourites) and also give us background information about the local history. He gave us plenty of advice on visits that we might like and pointed us in the direction of some of the best days we had. He didn;t even tell me off for bringing a stray dog home for water and Doritos at 2am - very patient.

Some comments in this thread mention noise around Fortin Hotel and as far as we were concnered the majority of disruptive noise that we experienced came from other, inebriated guests. The Mosque call lasts for less than a minute, happens only a few times a day and is part of Muslim culture (the predominant religion of this region of Turkey) so reference to it as 'noise' is actually quite rude. Similarly the drums mentioned (there were, by the way, no trumpets whatsoever) are the local community awakening other Muslims before dawn so they can eat before Ramdan begins. I would suggest that those who find either of these sounds offensive should probably not visit Turkey - or Halifax, or Birmingham, or Bradford. In fact stay at home.

I think some of the issues highlighted in previous posts fall at the fault of Thomas Cook for misrepresentation of this property. It is very much a B&B in the perfect location for those who want to be out and about, experiencing all that the area has to offer. I wouldn't recommend this property for those wanting an 18-30s style holiday or those who are used to all-inc resort style accomodation.

If you do want to stay at this hotel I would recommend booking directly with the owners as opposed to through Thomas Cook, as they charge an enormous booking fee and we never even saw a Rep near the place.

Overall, brilliant hotel, fantastic holiday and we will definitely be returning.

Stayed at this hotel for a fortnight at end of july 2013. As this is a pansiyon its more like a guest house. It is clean and tidy and we opted for a room with air conditioning a good plus in the heat. The facitlities were basic but good value for money. The breakfasts were typical turkish continental and sufficient for us.

The family running the hotel were good to talk to. We had quite a few laughs with all of the 3 brothers and mr fortin snr and were given a good welcome and send off. We found that by showing respect we received the same. They were very helpful and friendly. Thank you to all for this.

The hotel is very handy for the centre, the markets and the dolmus stops. We liked this as the dolmus being close meant we could get to a lot of beaches and the millipark (a real treasure). The harbour and pigeon island were also only a 5 to 10 minute walk away.

We were mindful that this is a muslim country and it was also ramadan. Bearing this in mind there was always going to be some noise from the mosque and at night due to ramadan.

All in all a good value for money budget hotel and would recommend it on that basis. Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: ask for a room with air conditioning keeps you more comfortable at night

well where do i start, bedrooms yes they are basic rooms, but surely the only time you spend in the rooms are when your asleep.we spent two weeks and didn;t have a problem.we went at ramadan so it was a bit noisy but if you go at that time of year you have to show respect.the drums, there was no trumpets! that one reviewer mentioned was part of the celebrations, after a day or two you sleep though both the drums and mosque.so that aside the staff 3 brothers were friendly and helpful.some the previous reviewers did have a bit of a attitude problem,we witnessed it.we took cherries in and shared them with the brothers no problem.the atmosphere was lovely the second week we sat outside till four most mornings just talking.you do have to remember that it is a residential area, and they try to keep the noise down because of the locals.would be go again,TO RIGHT WE WOULD.thank you Fortin family for such a relaxing fun holiday.see you all next year carn't wait xxxxx

Room Tip: rooms at the back quiet.front rooms over bar,so bar noise.air con a must

Me and my boyfriend stayed at hotel fortin for 1 week and it was ok. My partner is a big lad and can eat so the breakfast of bread, jam, cucumber, tomatoes and sometimes an egg didn't fill him! It was lovely for me though.. The 3 lads who ran it are lovely but sometimes quite lazy, they don't come over and ask if you'd like a drink you have to go to the bar and then take your own drinks back over sometimes do two trips as they won't help. They'd get you good deals and tell you nice places to eat! They got us a cheap boat trip and it was our favourite day!! The maids are awkward and use very dirty mops to clean the floor!! We had used razors and rubbish in one of our draws and a mucky toilet... Also if you sit out on front on a night GET SOME MOZZY SPRAY!!! Other than that good holiday xx

I need to start by saying that I don't recognise the hotel described by the previous two reviewers as the same place that we stayed at the beginning of July - we had a fabulous holiday! Yes, the rooms are basic but, for the price that we paid, we didn't expect anything else. They were cleaned every day, towels and sheets changed and we had no complaints.

The family who run the hotel are very welcoming and hospitable and we had a good laugh with them on many occasions. I tend to find that, if you treat people with respect and as you would wish to be treated yourself, you get on just fine.

The pool area is small but, because lots of the guests used the hotel as a base to explore the area, we never had any trouble getting a spot when we wanted to relax around the pool, which was very welcoming in the heat! There is a small bar area which serves a good variety of reasonably priced snacks and drinks so there was no need for us to walk to the resort centre for lunch. Of course, the owners don't want you to bring in your own food and drink - they are running a business after all.

It is only a couple of minutes walk to Centrum and the Dolmus station so an ideal location if you want to get out and about (we didn't!) - lots of restaurants close by for an evening meal and a few drinks and also close to Bar Street if you want a more lively night out.

There is a mosque very close to the hotel so you can hear the 'call to prayer' several times a day including at around 4am but this is a Muslim country and, if you can't respect their culture and beliefs, perhaps you need to think about holidaying elsewhere.

We met some really friendly people and many who had returned year after year (I think that the record was 8 consecutive years!) so that says it all for me - we definitely intend to join them in returning to this fantastic little hotel.

If you want to be entertained 24 hours a day and experience 4 star room standards, you would be well advised to book elsewhere - if you are looking for a great value holiday in a clean and friendly hotel, go to Hotel Fortin!

Room Tip: We were shown 2 rooms to choose from when we arrived - we chose a room with a balcony overlooking th...

Stayed in this hotel. It was a dive. Very basic but filthy. Maids only changed towels and did not clean the room. The family who own this hotel are not very nice. I witnessed other guests being shouted out and this was not very professional on the hotels part. All i can say is the family are bullies.I have never met so many people who wanted to go home early. Guests rooms were being entered by the family randomly.

The pool is extremely small and whilst in the pool the lights came away from inside. Around the pool was filthy and there were ants everywhere.

I understand this is a two star hotel however I think hostels I've stayed in have been cleaner!

Where the hotel is situated is not in a very nice area. Sleep was hard to get as noise all throughout day and night was unbearable. Drums were played around 3:30 in morning. Car horns beeping and alarms going off not to mention dogs barking constantly.

Couldn't wait to come home. Would never go back!
