“lovely holiday here”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2010

We stayed here in august 2010....... there where 9 of us including 2 children age 4 and 18 months.... we stayed for 2 weeks and really enjoyed ourselves...the pools where great our 4 year old loved them as did the males in our group!!!! The staff where amazing!!! they went over and above their duties everyday to make us feel welcome and included us in every activity they could... i think the staff here really make this hotel as great as it is....... the rooms where clean and we had fresh towels everyday.....the beds especially the childrens where changed everyday....
the rooms are very basic and not what iam used too but we managed.....next year we will be booking a family room as the rooms where on the small side. the food here was beautiful... we found that the children liked to eat here rather than eating out. I thought the food and drink where a little expensive...but id rather pay the prices in the hotel rather than go out and pay less but the food be awful.
i did find there wasnt alot for the children to do especially in the night times...needs a mini kids club and a female entertiner too....
overall we had a fantastic holiday here and have booked for next year... we cannot wait to go back and see everyone again....this is definatley a hotel i'd recommend. thanks to all the staff at the lion hotel you are fantastic!!! see you next year

I have stayed at the Lion Hotel four times now, The hotel is in a residential area of Kusadasi. Each visit there are noticable improvements made to the accomodation ie refurbished reception and bar area, fresh paint in the rooms etc. The rooms are clean but a bit on the small side. The hotel staff are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. The sea view from the pool facing rooms is amazing, you can sit on the balcony and watch the ocean liners come and go. On a clear day you can see the Greek island of Samos. I have only one issue and that is in relation to the breakfasts, which is Turkish style it would be good to see a bit more choice here as I dont really do cucumber and tomatoes first thing in the morning!!! Other than that I have no complaints I would recommend this hotel to anyone couples, families that would like a relaxing holiday without the pomp and ceremony of 4/5 star accomodation.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stated in.
We boked this low budget holiday as I am six months pregnant and had to cancel our dream carribean holiday due to flight length.
We arrived at the hotel, only to be told we had to pay for air con, then when we got to the room, it was nothing like advertised nor how it looks in their hotel leaflet in reception.
The balcony had an infestation nest on the roof and had it have burst, i cant imagine what would have come pouring out.
The pool was adequate, however you wouldnt use the pool shower as it was filthy as was the baby pool.
The food and drinks were over priced 3lira for a can (£1.50)
The noise levels in the middle of the night by roudy guests were not controlled and this ruined our holiday as it did others, we had 3 nights where we had no sleep as did the other guests, especially those with small babies.
Many people missed the "lame " breakfast due to over sleeping from the noise the previous night, and then were charged £3.00 for a sausage for breakfast !
Breakfast was poor, bread, cheese jam and a small ommelete selection is all available and is only served from 8-10am.
The thomas cook rep was a complete waste of time, he had no back bone and his word has no relevance in comparision to the hotel manager.
We booked through direct line holidays who also said that inflight meals were included and they werent so we have had a £30 refund, as the flight was with FREEBIRD not Thomas Cook and it was also the worst plane/ flight ever.
The cabin crew were rude and never acknowledged requests from customers and they over inflate the exchange rates on your return flight to ensure you spend your last liras.
THIS IS THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED AT.... PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

having read the reviews others had posted about this hotel, i was looking forward to a great holiday in a great hotel. to say the hotel was dirty is an understatement. our room floors were not even clean when we arrived. the cleaners never once cleaned the floors the whole 2 weeks we were there. they never even changed the bedding. we had to pull the bedding off after 5 days ourselves and then got clean bedding. the sheets and pillows were not straightened any day, and the only covers we had were a light blanket, and a throw,no top sheets. the cleaners literally rolled the throws in a ball and left them on top of the bed. why did we not complain? we decided to put up with it because we had a 7 year old with us and she did enjoy the pools. there were slides in one pool, but they were only turned on for 1 hour at a time, no matter how much the kids were enjoying it.we had to pay for air-conditioning, fridge, and safety boxes. everything was expensive, including drink and food. to play bingo was 20 t.lira which was part of the entertainment programme. i would never recommend this hotel to anyone

My wife stayed here last year with friends so we knew the score with things, prices, location etc so we had no nasty shocks as such during our stay here at the hotel. One thing that niggled us, is the price of drinks, £2.50 for a 500ml bottle of Efes, although you can get Carlsberg for the same price at this hotel, a more drink-able beer. You will find though, that beer prices are more or less the same throughout Kusadasi, which as others say is a short bus ride away on a Dolmus or taxi. We chose a taxi back home at night as it was only a couple of pounds more expensive than the Dolmus and more convenient. BUT, there is a small taxi rank within 30 yards of the hotel up the hill, but the taxi driver who runs his little office is a rip-ff, so beware. Firstly, he tried charging us more than other taxis in the area, and when we haggled a price with him in line with other drivers, he agreed. But at our destination he gave us change as a 1 Euro coin instead of 2 Lira.
Also, he was charging friends who came with us different rates for the same journey, by charging them 15 Lira to Ladies Beach, but when he came back to collect the others, he only charged them 12 Lira. Avoid at all costs, or at least have the correct change with you if you knock his price down. Note though, that fuel is more expensive than in the UK (yes, honest!), so they can't haggle much with you.
All in all a nice relaxing holiday, a couple of points in particular need attention, like the fact that the hotel entertainment team, 'Raks' and 'Messi', continued to play the same cd's over and over again during our two week stay. I asked them if they'd play some other music, if they had any and they said they had lots to choose from. Sadly though, they couldn't see any further than the same half a dozen cd's played over and over and over and over........while around the poolside. They said this is because this is what people want to hear, modern up to date music, but to be honest its like a certain radio station we have in the Manchester area, and its very tedious.
Snacks always arrived hot when we ordered them at lunchtime and the Tuesday night BBQ is good, but expect to queue like school children at lunchtime for your food. If you don;t like par-taking in hotel entertainment, then avoid the shows as they encourage people to join in and take part, which is all in good fun and nothing malicious or humiliating as such.
There is no wi-fi at this hotel, internet is available at in the lobby, about £2.50 for half an hour or something like that. Football is available to watch for you footy fans for English Premiership games (most of them)
Enjoy your stay here, but remember there are no bars or restaurants nearby and you will have to travel to find change of scenery for food, drinks etc, but its only a 10 minute ride away.

First time in turkey and this hotel.Found the staff lovely, the rooms in the hotel are very small not suited for children as you cant move in them. There is no shops in the hotel and you are a good bit from the centre. The clean the rooms everyday well if thats what you call it....The pool is very good for children and they do loads of attivates at the pool for children.Food is nice very pricey.Would i go back to this hotel NO as the rooms are very basic and not suited for a family, there is a big hill that you have to walk up to get to the hotel as the buses dont go up.

Hotel is situated between Kusadasi resort centre and the Ladies Beach (15 minute walk down the hill to the centre and the same to the beach). The dolmus is running up until midnight (1.5TL) and after that you would need to get a cab.

The hotel itself is decent but a bit jaded overall. The air-conditioning is payable locally ( around eur 24 per week). The room was basic and the air-con a bit erratic. Entertainment was provided by enthusiastic staff, but was a little bit cheesy for our taste. Nice pool area with slides for the kids. The breakfast was the same as the property overall - BUDGET (extremely limited in choice).
