“Some Good, Some Bad and some downright ugly!”
Reviewed August 5, 2011

Spent a week all inclusive with two teenage children and the wife..very last minute decision at a very good price so the below review reflects the bargain price paid...

Flying to Bodrum was a mistake...forget all the quoted transfer times..with a stop...you are looking at 2.5 hours minimum..its a real slog..flying to Izmir would be better as the transfer time is only 40 mins.
The hotel itself is quite a way from the beach..it's a good 15-20 min brisk walk or you can be taken there for free on a tractor with carriage (which takes nearly as long) and to be honest, i am not sure its worth it..very small beach and loads of litter..more on that later.

The hotel itself is geared very much towards turks. Whilst there were quite a few english people there, the entertainment and food were always heavily turkish influenced and this should be borne in mind.....With regards to the food & drink...here goes.......

It was actually ok..but only ok..loads of salad dishes and a couple of meat dishes each meal...pancakes/eggs for breakfast was nice and the soup and bread was very good.

The major overriding issue we had along with other english people there was the absolute gluttony and rudeness we experienced with the turkish guests. I have never ever seen such shocking greed with plate after plate of food piled high and then left on the tables untouched. It was pointed out that Ramadan was on and this may have influenced some of the antics that we saw but the snacks brought out in the morning and afternoon were gone in seconds and then left uneaten leaving nothing for the civilised idiots like us that waited in turn .
Lots of the Turkish holiday makers do not comprehend even the basic way to conduct themselves in queues...it really is like a bun fight to get to the meals and stop turks pushing in and piling plates high with food that 9 times out of ten were just left untouched. It really affected my enjoyment at meal times to see such absolute waste and greed and the appalling attitude of a lot of the turkish guests at mealtimes. The way the tables are set out, its quite possible that you will share a table with Turks eating..not a pretty sight!

The drinks are fine..the all inclusive beer is Tuborg lager and was quite nice..the spirits were also fine..the soft drinks are actual bottles of Pepsi, Sprite, Fanta etc so were good.
Eating and drinking is confined to a hut at the side of the pool and was just about acceptable.

The hotel is very basic..we stayed on the first floor for the first night and were then told we had to move to the second floor!!!!..the rooms on the first floor are much more refined and i would request a first floor room if at all possible. Saying that, the maids cleaned every day, we had fresh towels every day and the bed linen was changed a couple of times in the week that we were there. We has a couple of problems with the room but these were sorted quickly and efficiently albeit that their solution to a dripping toilet was to place an empty bin underneath it that needed emptying twice a day!

The pool is ok..the one issue i would say with the pool is that it was only cleaned once whilst we were there and towards the end of the week was looking quite dirty and unclear. Getting a bed was better than some places but again, the Turkish guests would leave towels on the beds and then disappear to the beach or the shops for hours on end..this caused quite a bit of friction but the hotel management refused to intervene. Getting towels out around 08:00 was the done thing if you wanted a decent bed and parasol.

The picture for the slides is quite deceiving. Its really only a splash pool with a couple of slides that were average.

If you are planning any trips, go to Kusadasi on the bus and shop around..at least 1/2 price to what the rep offered at resort..its quite a nice place and beforehand we had heard stories about the shopkeepers being some of the most aggressive in Turkey..not a bit of it.
in fact, if you go towards the end of town, the shops actually display prices on everything which made a nice change and all the shop keepers whilst typically pushy were ok if you said no......you will get pressured to go to "Murphy's Bar" by the rep..don't bother..there are another 50 places just like it in town..it's really nothing special.

The place itself however is an absolute dump..go for a walk anywhere and there is litter everywhere and a strong sewage smell in parts..the beach was disgusting both in Kusadasi and the beach attached to the hotel.....having been to Turkey a couple of times, it really strikes me that it is so "unfinished" as a country..litter absolutely everywhere.
If you walk across to the Kipa over the road (owned by Tesco), its like walking through a rubbish dump to get there although there is a nice shopping complex and the Kipa area was clean and tidy.

In summary then, it was cheap and cheerful with marvellous weather, food was ok but i would never ever go on holiday again in Turkey to a place that i knew turkish people used. It's an experience not to be repeated!

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the first floor..more modern and refined.

I have just returned from the flora and spent hardly anytime there, it was just a place to sleep and have a few drinks etc in the evening. You definitely get what you pay for, staff are quite rude and patronising especially againts women, the rbe alrightestaurant was always clean and the staff collected the empty plates all the time, but the food was quite repetative and although I was aware prior to arrival that they didn't have British food I was fairly dissapointed with the lack of choice, but by all means if you are happy to live off cakes for the duration of your stay then you'll be alright. The pool is clean and there is always a lifeguard on watch, there are sunbeds available but only a few so you'll have to be up quite early to get your spot at the poolside. There is a suttle service that takes you to the beach going to and from every 2 hours which is pulled by a tractor, staff at the hotel speak fairly good English and are easy to communicate with. Hotel rooms are standard, air con worked fine and was lovely to come into a cool room after a day at the beach. Staff were great a making sure there are clean towels in the room each day and beds were made, although when we first came into the room there was a sewer smell coming from the sink which we had to place an ashtry over to cover the smell, which seemed to work. Overall I would say our stay at the Flora suites was average and good value for money at only £480 p/p all inclusive for a week in peak season, I wouldn't stay at this hotel again neither would I reccommend it but the resort made up for the accommodation as it was a beautiful place and awesome weather so I would definitely reccommend Kusadasi!!!!!

We have just got back from 2 weeks at the Flora Suites and I have to say I will never return!!
The food is terrible and the Turks are the only ones catered for. No British food at all and all we wanted for breakfast was bacon or sausage etc but all we got was olives, salad, cheese, boiled eggs and basically the remains of the night before's dinner. My Husband and I ended up walking for about 15 mins every morning to a little cafe called Star which is right next to Flora Beach and they do ovely toasties & a full English breakfast. Snacks were terrible aswell unless you like maderia cake or Turkish pizza and we rarely got any anyway as it's like feeding time at the zoo with people piling plates high and clearing the containers (I saw one Turkish woman with 23 bits of Pizza for her & her Husband). We spent nearly £2000 for a family of 5 as we had to eat out most days/nights.
Our Room - Very very basic room with terrible smell from the drain in the bathroom. There is a sink in the kitchen part of the room, god only knows why because there are no cooking facilities or even a kettle, there was however an old fridge where we kept our supplies in. 4 days running I had to go to reception and ask for towels, for some reason the maid never looked near our room! by the 4th day I was really angry and complained at reception then the next day we had little swans etc made up on our beds but it was too little too late by then.
Entertainment - Ha ha utter rubbish unless you like an old man banging wooden spoons together or a pair of morons dressed as woman hitting each other.....yes really. I couldn't watch the entertainment it was sooooo bad. We found out on the 2nd last night that there is an all night disco situated at the bottom of the hotel next to the entertainment stage however when my husband and I went one night, we were the only 2 there and had 2 drinks which cost us 60 lira!!!
Grounds of hotel - There is a lovely little hut which we nicknamed the hippy hut where you can sit on cushions around the floor and relax. Pools were nice & the slides were great fun for everyone.
Staff - Lovely hardworking friendly & make you feel very welcome, could not fault them although the reception staff could not speak a word of English.
Trips - We went to Aqua Fantasy and it was brilliant then my Mum and I booked a day trip to Pamukalle which we were told is 1hr away on the bus, was it heck, it was 3 1/2hrs and although it was beautiful, it was not worth being out the whole entire day and travelling 7hrs on a bus. It was lovely seeing such an amazing place.
All in all I had a great holiday seeing Kusadasi and it's wonderful culture but I would not return to the Flora Suites, I would go more central next time.

Food is chronic but tomatoes and cakes are good. But who goes on holiday to eat tomatoes and cakes? The highlight at breakfast is the fried eggs, if you like fried eggs burnt and crispy. If you like hospital or prison food then you will be happy.

If its busy at night expect to queue for some time. It's not worth the wait. This is a holiday for the tastebuds if you eat in.

The swimming pools are good as long as you stay away from the suction pump (that does not have a cover ) and sucks you in, my sons shorts got sucked as did my back, which was very sore. Many other people got sucked in also.

If you are staying here then you will be eating out a lot. The nearest place with good food that's reasonably priced is the atlantique beach club resturaunt about a kilometer away. You are advised to get a taxi each way as the route there is treacherous on foot as there are no pavements and no street lights.

If you want to go shopping then there is a shopping centre at kippa across the road. This road is nicknamed the 'road of death' as it is basically a dual carriageway where the drivers speed up when they see you crossing.

The entertainment is at the edge of the complex. It is stage area surrounded with plastic chairs (no tables) and you can pay for drinks there (not all inclusive). You can however do what every one else does and go up to the main bar for drinks and bring them down.

Kusadasi is a 28lira taxi ride away. Said 6km in the brochure but seems like 10m to me. Some restaurants offer a free taxi home and Murphys will pick you up and drop you off.

On the whole this place is not recommended.

This is an ECO hotel. This stand for economy. If you booked direct then you will get value for money. If you booked through an agent then you have been ripped off.

Totaly disgusting, makes faulty towers look like the Hilton.Supposed to be 4* wouldn,t even give it 1*. Filthy, food disgusting all had stomach upsets.Don,t speak a word of English.Air con not working , room had the stench of sewer coming from the sink.Restaurant is a shed that looks like a scout hut or cow shed that is situated outside next to pool.Food is the same salad dished up each day with couple of chips or mash and maybe rice.
Hotel is situated in the sticks miles away from anything .Beach is about two miles away and shuttle bus from hotel was a tractor with a trailer on the back that takes you down a very bumpy lane...(so not good at all ) Full of turks not caterd for british at all. Never ever again would I go there or recomend to anybody.

Room Tip: not less than deluxe room with pool view

Just returned from this hotel and yes there are improvements that could be made but all in all we had a lovely stay. Food was good Breakfast is mainly cold meats cheese olives and lovely bread and fried eggs or pancakes. Lunch a whole range of salads and usually a choice of hot food such as meat fish or pasta with cakes. Evening meal again mainly a range of salads but two choices of hot dinner. during the day crepes and cake by the pool. Drinks as specified local sprit and beer. There are two pools both clean however the sun beds could be cleaner they just need a good scrub. There is pool tables, table tennis and basketball court. Hotel is out of town but across from a shopping mall where there is a Big tesco known as kip a and other shops including a burger king where you can get cheap ice cream. Shuttle to beach every two hours which drops you next to a cheap cafe. Rooms basic but clean however they are going to be refurbished soon I understand. Staff have as expected very limited English however the current bar staff covering this summer are lovely. There is no entertainment at the hotel. There is a dolmus service number 6 into the centre every 5 mins and just charges 2 lira. We went on three trips by regal tours horse safari which was great and a good family day out. Aqua fantasy also an excellent day out and a local dolphin show which was good. If you want a cheap hotel that is a quiet holiday this is what you get.

Room Tip: You need to be on floor 1 for the nicer rooms

The hotel in situated on the outskirts of Kusadasi it about 15 mins in a taxi to the centre .Staff were friendly and always there to help. Had children in the group which had a park in the hotel grounds to play in but no other entertainment ran by the hotel.
The food was horrid chicken and salad every meal with no snacks on offer through the day. The hotel was mixed with lots of school groups from Bulgaria on there half term trips, which made it loud at times.Nightly entertainment was a disco which went on till 12 midnight. At the bar there was vodka , larger or wine , not many free inclusive drinks too offer, cocktails and other spirits were chargeable......icecreams Also were at charge at the poolside .This hotel in not a good offer would class as star 1. No beach this is about a 15 minutes walk away from the hotel .
