“Amazing... wonderful... outstanding...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2011

Everything in this hotel is extra high quality. We have stayed there in august 2010 with our family for a whole week (total 8 people). Breakfast diner and lunch....Everything served in this hotel (food, drinks, fruits, meals etc...) is the best that could be bought from the market. Food was very delicious and there were incredible varieties. (For example there was more than 30 different cheese options in the open buffet during breakfast. Imagine the rest…) the open buffet was unbelievable... The aqua park... It's a must.. A huge area and lots of water slides both for children and adults... Lots of fun for everybody... Rooms...We all loved the quality of the rooms. Even Jacuzzi is standard in this hotel. Very comfortable in all terms... A la Carte restaurants were also delicious, especially the sultan restaurant (ottoman cuisine). Although you pay extra money, it’s worth. We went twice to the sultan restaurant. This hotel was advertised as a premium class hotel... Believe me it is... we will stay there at least one more time... Its more than 10 years that I am visiting Antalya and this hotel is certainly one of the best in this region...

Room Tip: All rooms are superb. It does not matter which room you get.

Gural Premier/ Ali Bey Premier review

This hotel is listed twice by Tripadvisor so I shall post this review under both hotel names. Please refer to review under "Ali Bey Premier" for further photos.

My husband and I stayed at the Gural Premier formerly the Ali Bey Premier from 9-16 July with our sons aged 13 and 16. This was our ninth visit to Turkey. Previously we have been guests at the Susesi de Luxe, the Gloria Golf and the Rixos Premium Hotels in Belek, the Wow Topkapi and at Lykia World in Olu Deniz amongst others. We have also enjoyed holidays at various All Inclusive hotels in the Caribbean, Kenya, Egypt and other destinations around the Med and in most respects the Gural rates very highly amongst the other hotels at which we have been privileged to stay.

The lengthy transfer time to Tekirova is well worth it although I strongly recommend that you arrange private transfers even if you book a package deal. The wait we endured on the transfer coach at Antalya Airport was over an hour and, as we were by no means amongst the first guests on board, considerably longer for others. The Gural was the last of nine hotel drop-offs and, once we were on the move, the journey time was 2 hours 15 minutes. Our return transfer including pick ups took 2 hours.

On arrival, the bellboys at the Gural greeted us with enthusiasm and courtesy and directed us into the lobby but, regretfully, check in service from therein was disappointing. One other group of guests were checking in when we arrived but our presence at the desk went without acknowledgement for quite some time despite there being several other members of staff behind the desk who could have greeted us. When we did get served the member of staff was interrupted by a colleague and went away to deal with some other matter without offering any apology on his return. Overall the check in process was confused and frustratingly lengthy and did not represent a great first impression. A welcome drink at any point during this long wait would have been much appreciated, but unfortunately none was offered.

Our booking with Thomas Cook was for a Family deluxe suite which has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. These room types are located in 3 storey blocks numbered 30-39. Some units have only very small balconies with space for a small table and 2 chairs so if you plan to make use of the balcony then make sure you request a room with seating for four people. Be aware that some of the pool access rooms are not serviced by a nearby bar, so if you have booked this room type I suggest requesting block 22, 24 or 26 as there is a bar in this area. Alternatively it would appear from the resort map that there may also be another bar near blocks 27 or 28. The pool access rooms are housed in 2 storey blocks.

The standard of the rooms and décor throughout the complex rates the highest of all the hotels we have stayed at in Turkey. Worthy of particular note is the exceptionally efficient air conditioning. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms and a minibar in each bedroom. The choice of English TV channels is very limited and, to my knowledge, did not include a children’s channel. There is no door on the twin bedroom.

The water park is outstanding and there are many choices of water slides for younger children as well as 9 adult slides of which 6 require a ring. The hotel was at full capacity during our stay but we did not experience a long queue or a lack of available rings. In addition to the 3 pools with waterslides there is also a large free form pool in the aqua park which has Jacuzzi pools, water fountains and a small lazy river. The aqua park is fully fenced and is open from 10am to 6pm. The advantage of this arrangement is that the sun loungers in the aqua park are not available to reserve by towel until the gates of the aqua park open.

In addition to the pools in the aqua park there are two main pools and toddlers pool plus a further 10 pools arranged around the blocks of pool access rooms.

As our stay at the Gural was only 7 nights we did not chose to pay the 15 euro per head charge to eat at any of the 4 a la carte restaurants. There are two buffet restaurants sited one on top of the other with the upper level restaurant serving late breakfast from 10-11am. Whilst the choice and quality of food available at breakfast and dinner is fairly extensive it did not compare to the exceptional buffet options on offer at other hotels we have stayed at and there is little variety from one day to another. All food is cleared away very promptly at the appointed closing time.

In addition to the buffet restaurant, at lunchtime there is food served at the aqua park snack bar until 2.30 and at the pool snack bar until 6pm. There is also free wi-fi available at the pool bar.

The All Inclusive drinks menu is, in my opinion, where this hotel really falls short. Our expectation based on our previous AI hotel experiences in Turkey and on the 5* rating and marketing by Thomas Cook of the Gural, was that a full range of alcoholic drinks and cocktails would be available. However, at the risk of sounding like a cocktail-dependent hotel snob, the current AI package simply does not compare to that offered by other top 5* hotels in the Antalya region.

In practice there are two levels of All Inclusive package at the Gural; Ultra AI and standard AI. Thomas Cook and UK guests are only able to book under the AI plan and we were advised by the Thomas Cook Rep that there is no option to upgrade in resort. Ultra AI guests have a gold swipe card for drinks whilst AI guests are issued with a black card. Contrary to the hotel description in the Thomas Cook brochure, the bar menu and the hotel summer 2011 concept sheet both clearly state that international branded drinks are not included under the AI plan. In total there are only 7 alcoholic cocktails available to AI guests which are either local gin or local vodka based. In addition local cognac is also on the AI menu but rum is not and therefore cocktails like pina colada, mohito etc are chargeable at 6.5 euros. Efes bottled beer and wine are included. It is my opinion that if Thomas Cook wish to continue to offer this hotel as a Style holiday then they need to address the 2 tier All Inclusive package and upgrade their customers to the Ultra AI plan. I feel it is misleading to market a hotel as All Inclusive when the majority of alcoholic drinks listed in the bar menu are NOT included but chargeable.

The hotel has lots to offer families with young children and the gated kids club appeared well run and safe. It is open from 10am until 11pm: Mini club for 4-8 years, Maxi club for 9-12 years and Teen club for 13-17 years. The impressive games hall is well located next to the internet café and beside the pool bar.

Evening entertainment is pretty varied here. The Gala night on Saturday is quite spectacular. Tables with elegant candelabras are set up by the main pool and all the food is cooked and served outside. The show finishes with a firework display. Unfortunately when we checked in on Saturday evening the reception staff did not mention that it was gala night so when we were shown to our room we took time to unpack and didn’t go out for dinner until about 8.30. By this time all the tables were taken and we had to share or wait for an empty table. Dress code is white and black but, again, we had not been informed so we felt we were dressed too casually for the grand occasion.

We went to several shows which were of a pretty high standard. The Garden Party held on Friday night was excellent; there were bouncy castles and other inflatables including a huge climbing wall and other games for the children. Candy floss and corn on the cob was also available. Other evening entertainment included live bands, a white party and a foam party in the open air disco. A bungee trampoline is also open on the beach in the evenings.

We found the bar and restaurant staff to be friendly and most spoke English. A special mention to Hakan and Omer in the bar by the aqua park pool and to Nisana in the beach bar; thank you for your friendly service.

In summary this is a fabulous family hotel with outstanding facilities and staff. It is not, as yet, widely available to book from the UK which may be a factor you wish to consider prior to booking as during our week’s stay we met only one other lovely family from Ireland. We all agreed that it was a shame that the children did not have the opportunity to make friends with other families as they have done on previous holidays. One other family from the UK arrived on the day we left. Of course the lack of English guests might also be a considered a benefit! That said, we would thoroughly recommend this hotel and I am sure it’s popularity will increase as the summer season progresses.

I hope you enjoy your stay at the Gural as much as we did.

First point I will make is this hotel is known in the Thomas Cook brochure as Gural Premier but is known localy as the Ali Bey Premier, which would perhaps explain the lack of information on Tripadviser on the hotel. I travelled with my hubby and 2 kids age 12 and 8 and stayed for 2 weeks in July 2011. The hotel is an absolutely fantastic family holiday, a fabulous water park, friendly staff, good food, great size family rooms with 2 bedrooms. The guests at this hotel are mainly Russian and Turkish and lack of reviews would explain why so few of english speaking guests, when we were there we only met one other English speaking family, hello Les, Rob and boys!! which was a bit disapointing for my 2 kids who like to make friends when on holiday but please dont let this put u off as it is a fabulous property. There is a small town within 10 minutes walk which has a nice wee market on a Saturday, and a bus stop just outside hotel where u can catch a dolmus to the larger resort of Kermer. We also booked a boat trip from the beach at the hotel which was a lovely day out! The hotel has a few a la carte restaurants at an extra cost of 15 euro per person, we tried the chinese but to be honest it wasnt much different from the main restaurant but nice for a change of scenery. The All Inclusive package can be a bit confusing at the bar as some drinks have a charge beside them on the menu, when we queried this we were told everything (including Magnum and Twister icecreams) was included and there was only a charge for some cocktails, with about 8 cocktails free of charge, which was ok. My hubby also booked me a surprise facial in the spa which was really nice but a bit overpriced ie 120 euro!
All in all a lovely relaxing family holiday :)

Massive place with very poor service. Employees are unfriendly. Aquapark is wonderful. Meals are great. Not suitable for small kids. Very noisy with loud music everywhere. If you have kids at age 10+ it imight be great. But if you have toddlers than it is a nightmare. There are no ways for toddler strollers. We had to carry the strollers through the stairs! The rooms are very far from the center which is another con. Entertainment is also very poor.
