We had a 1 bedroom apartment in Oct 2012 in the Kentia ape apartments, we were on a s/c basis, we had block A which was on the first floor over looking the pool, the apartment was nice and clean, dble bed and single in bedroom and good wardrobe space, window open wide if need be,bed settee in lounge, nice and spacious, patio doors, seating patio chairs(4) but the table was tiny just like a small coffee table, can't sit outside and have a meal, inside 2 hot plates, a kettle, very basic, didn't need to take a plug but all reviews I read beforehand said take one,
Staff excellent, nothing was to much trouble for them, pool lovely, no bridge over as it show in holiday brochure.pool kept very clean, meals at hotel are good, they have special nights.there is a very small mini market on site but only really sell milk, fresh bread every day and a few frozen bits of food, there is a big supermarket not to far, if you turn right out of hotel, walk up to the main road,, turn right then go to the top of the road, you have to cross the main road and will see it the other side, will have most of what you want, on that corner there is a Restaurant, we didn't think much to our meal so won't say to much about that, but it might just have been the stew type meal we had.
Only downside at the Kentia is it get really crowded around the pool, guest put towels on early hrs, so no different to yrs ago.and NOT ENOUGH Sun umbrella's, that was a real problem as they had 1 between 2 beds,
There is a free bus that pick you up outside the apartment from 9.3oam and take you to the beach, it takes you to a lovely beach, there are sun beds all along the beach, there is a beach bar to have lunch and drinks, lovely guys who run that and price ok.
If you turn right out of the apartment go to the end and turn left onto the high street, walk along down there , cross the road to the bus shelter the and you can get a bus into Side.they are mini buses very full and bit of a rough ride, you pay the driver by passing the money through his window if you happen to be stuck at the back, all very friendly.
side is a nice town, the bus drop you off on a sort of park where all the taxi's stop you get off, follow the crowd and walk through all the runes, they are amazing and you can take photos as you go along to the town, watch your bags.there is a bus/ coach that you can catch at the end of the town( you will pass that going in) and it will take you back to where you got off your bus, that will save your legs as am sure you will be tired, the cost wasn't much at all.
There is a market in Side opposite the mosque, you will see that when you walk down to the bus stop, think it was on a Sat, great fruit and veg, never seen melons that size and so cheap, that is a small one, the big market you need to get the bus, this side of the road, can't remember the name, start with an M, that is so cheap, again watch your bags, barter but know what you are doing, lots of designer stuff, mostly bags, bags and more bags, lot os the same stalls, very interesting!!
About 2 hrs from airport, and all the drop offs before we were dropped off, we were the last ones.
We loved the Turkish people, so friendly,
We wen't and visited the mosque, amazing workmanship, you can go in if there isn't a service going on, men and women have to wear long trousers and lady's cover their head, lovely inside, the guy who let us in let us take photos, we put a little money in their collection box, that is worth a visit.
We are going back in late Sept this yr, last yr it was adjust a but to late, we had some rain.
I think you will love it, it was our first time in Turkey and we loved it and want to go back, much cheaper than the euro.
