Just back from a week's superb holiday in these self catering apartments which we could not fault. The rooms were the biggest we have come across - so much space and a huge balcony. Good fridge and double ring cooker ( one faulty but we only used it to make toast so perfect ). Good sized bathroom which came with hairdryer to delight of our 16 year old daughter. She had her own room and loved it. We never expected the high level of service which we received but rooms were tidied every day and beds made in artistic ways - ending up with petals on the folded sheet and towels made into kissing swans! Incredible. Location was great as although not on beach it was only 15 minutes walk away and even closer to a large supermarket. Excellent free bus service to Big beach where there were free loungers and a reasonably priced cafe bar. Taxi to Old Town was £5 and we walked back in about 20 minutes after dinner. We went to the Turkish night in Kentia which was great value for as much as you wanted to eat and just as good when we ate off the dinner menu on the Belly Dancing night. You need to chose carefully where you stay in Side as the resort is massive with new builds everywhere but Kentia is in a great location. Brits are in a minority with about 75% of those on trips being German along with Dutch/Belgians and Scandinavians. But with only 80 rooms the Kentia is intimate with great friendly staff and a majority of guests from UK. Only kept awake one night by barking dogs but my daughter didn't hear them! Central pool which lost the lower in the sky October sun due to the buildings - but probably a good thing in the high heat of summer. No problem with noisy disco music which others have mentioned - the levels were never high and never late. Definitely recommended by all of us 3.

Room Tip: D block not overlooking pool meant we only got early morning sun and it never got hot inside so no n...

Had an amazing time at the Kentia Appartments, where i stayed for one week with my boyfriend. Very clean hotel, Staff are amazing as they are really friendly and very helpful and in a good location.

We stayed in a an apartment, very spacious, clean and provided with what ever you need for self catering. Cleaners came everyday. The hotel and pool area is kept very clean, the only problem with the pool is that it is freezing so once you get in you want to get back out again to warm up! But thats not such a bad thing!! Theres a shop in the hotel grounds which is 24 hour and reasonable prices and also a turkish bath too, we had alrerady booked a turkish bath with our Rep but another couple staying the at the Kentia had told us the turkish bath in the hotel was very good and enjoyable.

Overall, if i was returning to Turkey i would absolutley return to the Kentia Appartments.

One tip, if you go to the market, take british pounds or euros because they love it and you can get a better deal bartering with it than turkish lira!

My husband and I arrived at Kentia apps 1/10/12 and were very pleased with our choice. Relaxation and soaking up the sun was what we were looking for and this was exactly what we got. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. The appartments and pool area was kept clean and tidy and the pool was great.

Stayed at the Kentia Apartments from 27.09.2012 for one week with my boyfriend and would definitely recommend to others!!
Transfer took roughly 1 hour from Antalya airport. Check in was hassle-free and easy. We had a room in D block, and were really pleased with the size and cleanliness of the apartment straight away - loads of space, and spotless! Plus a proper double bed (rather than 2 singles pushed together). Self catering facilities were fine in my opinion (we ate out most of the time) but if you did want to make something simple like a pasta meal it would be fine! Having the fridge/freezer was great as we could freeze water overnight and take them to the pool the next day ;)
Pool was a good size and very nice. We didnt have any trouble getting a sun lounger every day but then again we werent there in peak season and we were going to the pool around 9.30 each morning...... Its a shame but its very hard to find a couple of sunbeds that will get the sun for the whole entire day - you have to keep moving out of the shadow, but that cant be helped! Cushions for the loungers can be found near the pool tables.
We arrived around 10pm at night and the bar/restaurant was very quiet but despite them having closed the kitchen they still made us some turkish pizza and salad when we asked if we could order some food. Very friendly staff. Like everywhere in Turkey they do try to sell you their themed nights (eg Turkish night, BBQ night - neither of which we tried as it seemed quiet) but they werent too overbearing with it.
I would describe the food in the hotel restaurant as 'fine' - nothing special but still ok to grab a bite for lunch. Prices were ok, pretty comparable to everywhere else in the area and cheaper than the harbour. Other guests did warn us that the breakfast wasnt very nice so we went to the Britannia cafe around the corner instead if we fancied breakfast (good food, very close to hotel, English owner, 'proper' bacon etc).
Location was ok - about a 25 minute walk into Side harbour or 5 mins in a taxi. Walking directions: come out of hotel, turn right, at end of road turn left, past Britannia, past 'My Corner', follow road all the way down past the Red Lion and on to ruins and harbour. If you come out of the hotel and head down the road immediately in front of you there is a supermarket on the right hand side that will take you to Side for 10TL. (Coming back you get one from the taxi rank and it costs 15TL).
The supermarket onsite is very handy and has most things you need. However if you want to have more of a choice you can head to the Migros supermarket by the hospital(come out of hotel, turn right then right again. Ugur restaurant is on the corner and you will see Migros across the road)
Side harbour has a variety of different shops and restaurants. Not many bars though, and the ones we did find were quite expensive. Restaurants I can recommend: Ocakbasi and Aphrodite. If you do decide to walk back to Kentia after a meal at the harbour you can always stop by the Red Lion pub for a drink on the way home!
We booked a boat trip from the kiosk right on the harbour for 45TL for the day which was well worth it for something different! Taken to a shingle beach in Manavgat, saw turtles, jumping off the boat, nice lunch. Only downside was that we were the only English speaking people on the trip, everyone else was German which was fine but would have been nice to have some people to chat to!
Weather was lovely when we were there (low 30's) and still warm at night. Only one overcast afternoon and one rainy evening :)
We didnt get the air con as we didnt feel like we needed it.
Also didnt get a safe (just kept our passports etc in our suitcase and kept the padlock locked and it was fine).
Cleaners came in every day apart from 1. Sheets were changed once (we took the sheets off the bed ourselves on the 4th day in the hope they would get the message - it worked!). We got clean towels 5 out of 7 days, so if you want clean towels every day I would recommend leaving them in a pile on the bathroom floor or something rather than hanging them up to dry.
I was woken up by the cockerel near by a couple of times and also the singing from the mosque but luckily managed to drift off again straight away!
TV is small and basic but has a couple of English speaking channels.
Ask reception or 'entertainment manager' for the free wifi code. It works round the pool area/bar/restaurant fine and was very handy.
We booked via booking.com and paid 29 euros per night (annoyingly had to go and change pounds to euros before leaving the UK in order to be able to pay for the room in cash but it was still a very good price for the week!)
Most people around the pool appeared to be from the UK at the time we were there.
Overall, I'm not sure I would go back to Side as I like to try a new place each time but if I ever found myself back there I would not hesitate to stay at the Kentia again!!

I stayed at the Kentia for a week from 29/09/12 with a friend and the holiday was brilliant from beginning to end :)

We arrived early hours of the morning and there was a gentleman available at reception to greet us and had our bags taken to the room for us. Apartment was spacious and clean with adequate facilities for self catering. We stayed in C block which gave us a view of the pool from our balcony, which was lovely. Air con wasn't needed during our stay as the room was cool enough with the window open during the night. Room was cleaned daily and fresh towels provided when needed.

Plenty of sunbeds around the pool although people do like to reserve them and i can imagine it being a bit of a nightmare in peak season but no trouble when we went. Pool was kept to a high standard by the Pool Boy and the sunbeds were very comfortable (cushions provided free of charge). Toilets by the pool were also very clean and well maintained. There is also a shop on site where you can buy most essential items and it isn't any more expensive than the shops within Side (as you would usually expect). You can get a bottle of water for 1TL (around 30p).

Kentia is a 25min walk from Side itself. There is a free bus to the beach on 3 occasions each morning right outside the hotel and there is a the Dolmus bus after this which you can catch just down the road and is around 2TL for a trip (60p). Hotel staff are also happy to book taxis when needed and some even wait outside although we chose to walk each time we did go into Side as it is a straight simple road to follow. I can imagine it being a bit of a pain for any elderley guests/those with children but for us it was fine.

Hotel staff were fantastic, couldn't fault them at all. Very pleasant, polite and couldn't do enough for you. Soner, the restaurant manager is a lovely man and we ate breakfast there each morning. There is a Turkish buffet breakfast which i would recommend which consisted of cereal, breads, fruit, cheeses and meats. We paid 80TL for 5 days breakfast inc drinks which works out around £5 a day. There is plenty of choice on the menu for other meals of the day from English food to traditional Turkish dishes and the food is a very good standard.

Downsides of the Kentia:
- Entertainment...or lack of. There is an 'entertainment manager' but unless you want to play Darts every day, there isn't much choice. There was water aerobics/polo advertised but it never happened the week we were there. Saying that, there were theme nights which proved very popular with the guests and you can make your own entertainment through the day.
- There is a Mosque about a 2min walk away from the hotel and unfortunately, the prayer call is quite loud and woke my friend up each morning at 5.25am!

Saying that, these downisdes are very minor and i can only say what a fantastic enjoyable time we had at the Kentia. The staff are a credit to the hotel and i would definitely go back. Although the location wasn't ideal, i would much rather stay further out and get the standard of acoomodation we had at the Kentia. Fantastic value for money and if you are thinking of booking to go, DO IT!!!

Well done guys :)

We spent 2 weeks at these apartments for our honeymoon, the first week was with the whole family too. First time in turkey so we were unsure what to expect. The rooms are clean, well kept, although the tv is basic with only 2 English speaking channels. Air conditioning is £30 a week extra, but worth having. There are 2 swimming pools, the adult one been a good size, the kids pool has a little slide too, both very clean and well maintained daily. On site there is a market, hairdressing, and Turkish bath facility (which you must try, it's fab). The best thing about Kentia was the staff, they are very friendly, funny, and helpful. The day barman mahmood sings his own songs, most of them are rubbish, but he's really funny. Not alot for kids to do out of season, but the pools should keep them busy. We've had some terrible food over the years abroad, but at Kentia the food is excellent, apart from the breakfasts, which are consumable, but no more that that. Evening meals are amazing, with great variation. The market shop is open 24 hours and sells the things you would expect including some English brands, for a premium. We only had 2 issues worthy of note; on arrival reception was closed, and a security guard who speaks no English at all booked us in, Needless to say we had the wrong rooms (there was a group of us for the first week) and my disabled father in law was put on the second floor, with no lift present, Check in was a total farce to be honest and guests we spoke to shared similar stories. Be warned if you win at bingo as i did, trying to claim your prizes is like trying to get blood out of a stone! There is a lovely restaurant just around the corner from Kentia called Britannia, English lady owner, who employs a lovely waiter called omar, a great place to eat! We will be going to go back to Kentia, maybe 2014. One last thing.....the beach is a taxi drive away (10 minutes).

Room Tip: Go for air conditioning.
