“Great holiday”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Stayed for 1 week mid October. Quick check in and a friendly welcome at reception. We had a sea view room on the first floor. Room was clean and reasonably well fitted out. A nice touch was a fridge that had beers/lemonade etc all part of the all inclusive. The food was really good, a lot of choice with consistent good quality. The hotel grounds are kept in really good condition.. The entertainment on a couple of evenings was extremely good, in particular the youngsters from the Moscow state circus - they were brilliant. The hotel is in a good location, Side is about a 40 min walk along the beach or you can get there by bus. Directly outside the hotel main gate is a bus stop and a small taxi rank. One point to note is that some rooms overlooking the pool area experience noise from the bars, although this usually died down by 11pm. The staff worked hard with most understanding English, which helped make our stay more relaxing. We had a go at parasailing which was very good although a bit pricey. We found that the hotel is extremely popular with Germans.
Overall we had a really good break, put on weight and came back with a suntan. I would recommend this hotel to families as it also has a good kids club. We went in October as most children were back at school which suited us and even though it was mid October the weather was really good.

We came to stay at the Turquoise on Oct 8th for a week. On arrival we were surprised at how new and fresh it looked. We were told after our meeting where to go to our room, 1020. Very pleased to find out it was on the same level as reception. On going in it was another matter! It was kitted out for a disabled person. Anyway, we got over that and decided to go for a wander round. Was very impressed by how many bars there are around the complex, and also by the size of the pool etc. We went back to unpack, and unfortunately, the safe didn't work. Then my husband realised that when upon hanging up his clothes, they all fell off when he went to slide the doors shut. He got in touch with reception and then they said we could have another room. So off we go, just to the other side of the lobby, room 1048. Very nice and not overlooked. We got unpacked and time was moving on by now. After unpacking we then realised that the air con wasn't very cold. We were told by reception that it had been set for the 'time of the year'..... but during our stay, it was between 27C and 30C, but cooler at night, apart from the last 2 nights. It was so stuffy in there, we didn't sleep too good and the mini bar was also not that cold either! I reported it twice, to be told that it isn't a fridge, it's a mini bar, I also stated that we would like our beer and cola to be cold and not warm either! I know you must be thinking, 'what a moaner', but to be honest, we did have the mini bar (fridge) replaced twice, and we were offered another room, which we rejected. The manager also met with my husband to see if the air con could be altered, but it wasn't much better, so we just got on with it. In saying all of this, we loved the hotel, the food was so so, breakfast is usually my thing on holiday, and if you like your eggs, boiled, scrambled, an omelette or fried, then this is for you ;-) It is mainly catered for Eastern Europeans and Nordic's, but you won't starve either. You make the most of whet there is. Night times in the buffet had theme nights, and they are outside where food is cooked by the chefs. Be warned tho, there can be a bit of queueing. There is also smoking area tables, so make sure if you aren't a smoker to get one of those tables. The a' la carte restaurants aren't quite what you expect, as there are set menus for each of them, no real choice, but very nice all the same.
We didn't see a cloud once all week. It was wonderful. The cocktails and drinks were lovely, and the bar staff were excellent. The patisserie was a lovely touch too, as was the kiddie area for chips and nuggets by the waterpark.
We would definitely go again, but make sure we got a higher room, as the air con up there from what we heard was really good ;-)
Unless you want a lounger by the pool, you had to be up early with your towels to save them (sad I know), but there are plenty to choose from in other areas, we liked to be facing the see near to the beach bar. Can't comment on the shows, didn't see one, but the Mongolian Acrobats were amazing in the main bar area.
You have to book your table for an a' la carte restaurant between 9am -5pm, for the next day, if you are lucky. Pamela can come across as a bit harsh, but I did manage a smile off her one day.
All in all, a great stay, apart from the hitches, but it didn't spoil it.

Just arrived back from a two week stay with friends at this lovely clean hotel. The hotel is set in lovely surroundings and the cleanliness is top notch, the staff are cleaning all the time, the food is excellent and plenty of choice. The a la carte restaurants are nothing to write home about, limited choice and small portions. When we arrived we were given a two bed roomed villa only to be told that we will have to move the next day. We asked if we could pay the extra and stay in the villas but were told by Valeria at reception rather abruptly 'Impossible' ( we knew the hotel wasn't full). They took all morning and part of the afternoon to relocate us to rooms in the main hotel, we were then given a bottle of house wine and a plate of fruit for the trouble ( we could have got these from the restaurant at any time). We found during the stay that some of the staff especially the reception and Pamela the lady who you booked the a la carte restaurants were lacking customer friendliness when they released you were British, they seemed to favour our European partners who made up the majority of guests in the hotel (we probably have paid more money to stay in this hotel). We would stay here again but would hope that some of the staff had improved on customer relations, and would insist on a villa room.

Room Tip: If having a room in the main buildings ask for one facing the gardens as a sea view room could be qu...

Just got back from another fantastic holiday at the Turquoise. (Our fifth time).

We arrived at 11pm very tired, but the Reception we got was second to none, Selcuk, Sarah and Derya were on hand to help us, we were given warm towels and Champagne, and asked to sit down whilst everything else was taken care for us. We were given all of the information for our stay by Selcuk, with assurance if we needed anything else, we only had to ask, then Derya whisked our cases to our room. A massive thank you to reception, and all the staff, too many to mention.

The rooms are beautiful, the hotel has had a refit this year and I must say I was very impressed.

After a good nights sleep in a queen sized bed (so comfortable) we went down for breakfast, which was lovely, everything you need to start the day.

The pool area is spacious, with grassed areas if you want a quieter day, we had our sunbeds facing the sea, which was amazing, so relaxing.

Lunch was a choice of a snack bar or the main restaurant, both tasty, and both had brilliant service. Evening meal was at the main Restaurant, or there is a choice of Five al a carte restaurants, which the lovely lady on customer relations booked for us all at once, everyone of them were superb, but I think the Steak restaurant was my favorite, Thank you Servet, (the lovely head waiter).

Everything about this hotel is fantastic, the service, food, drink, location and decor are second to none, and that is why We have booked again for next year, thank you hotel Turquoise xxx

We stayed at this hotel for a week in September 2013 and had a great time. We booked relatively close to our departure date and because we wanted two separate rooms for our party we had to have what is called a Family Room. We were a little apprehensive but that turned out to be without foundation. Our room(s) was situated in a block about 100yards from the main building. The room was more than adequate but I have to say that I don't think the furniture in the room was of the quality I would expect from this standard of hotel. That said, that was my only complaint as everything else was truly great. The quality and range of food was excellent and this was supplemented by "theme nights" throughout the week where foods of different nationalities were cooked in front of you. We were so pleased with the food that we didn't even bother trying any of the four a la carte restaurants that were also available to us. Both waiting and bar staff were very friendly and attentive and our glasses were rarely empty for long. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and is well laid out. We are not part of the "up at dawn brigade" and the good news was that we managed to get a sunbed without difficulty each day that we were there.
Side itself is a nice place to visit and is easily accessed by walking along the beach (40mins) or by using a Dolmus. Small entrance charges will get you entry to the Museum and the Amphitheatre. There are numerous bars and restaurants along the harbour area and boat trips can be taken to look at the scenery or perhaps look at the turtles swimming off shore.
I would certainly use this hotel again if we revisit Side.

Room Tip: I would imagine that rooms overlooking the bar and entertainment area would be a little noisy late a...

We are tempted to write a bad review, if only to push people away from what we would like to keep as our little secret. But the quality of this place means many other reviews will scupper that plan!
We first stayed here in 2006, and returned in Sept 2013. To be honest, little has changed. There are more a la carte's (the Turkish one is not quite as intimate as before, having moved from the beach area to the gardens). The lobby is more open plan and better. Re-decoration has been done. And our room this year was only a few doors away from where we stayed the 1st time.
The Turquoise meets our requirements perfectly. Although busy, it is so vast, that one has no problem doing whatever the mood dictates. We always use the 'Quiet pool', being a couple in their 50's, and not wanting an 'in your face' holiday.
The all inclusive element works very well (no arm bands!), and there is always something to eat or drink whenever needed. We arrived very late and took advantage of the 'all night breakfast' and 24 hour bar.
Entertainment is typically Turkish. We didn't visit the shows, but they obviously try to provide a quality programme. One thing we could criticise was that in the main bar area in the evening, it could take quite a while to be served by a waiter. Buy hey - go to the bar yourself, or use another bar if it is a problem.
There are many features we didn't use. Like the slides, the spa etc., but they looked very nice.
Taxi into Side was 8 Euros. Shopping provides less bargains than other parts of Turkey, so you have to really be selective with purchasing the original clothing copies. However, the town has lots of character compared to others in, say, the Dalaman region.
So basically, don't bother with this place. Leave it to us and the Germans (probably 80% of the hotel population is German). We are booking next year again. Our only gripe is that we have to do it via Thomson these days. In 2007 it was just as good, but half of the price when booking separately. Ah well - can't have everything!
