“What a Great Place”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

We stayed at this hotel for a week in September 2013 and had a great time. We booked relatively close to our departure date and because we wanted two separate rooms for our party we had to have what is called a Family Room. We were a little apprehensive but that turned out to be without foundation. Our room(s) was situated in a block about 100yards from the main building. The room was more than adequate but I have to say that I don't think the furniture in the room was of the quality I would expect from this standard of hotel. That said, that was my only complaint as everything else was truly great. The quality and range of food was excellent and this was supplemented by "theme nights" throughout the week where foods of different nationalities were cooked in front of you. We were so pleased with the food that we didn't even bother trying any of the four a la carte restaurants that were also available to us. Both waiting and bar staff were very friendly and attentive and our glasses were rarely empty for long. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and is well laid out. We are not part of the "up at dawn brigade" and the good news was that we managed to get a sunbed without difficulty each day that we were there.
Side itself is a nice place to visit and is easily accessed by walking along the beach (40mins) or by using a Dolmus. Small entrance charges will get you entry to the Museum and the Amphitheatre. There are numerous bars and restaurants along the harbour area and boat trips can be taken to look at the scenery or perhaps look at the turtles swimming off shore.
I would certainly use this hotel again if we revisit Side.

Room Tip: I would imagine that rooms overlooking the bar and entertainment area would be a little noisy late a...

We are tempted to write a bad review, if only to push people away from what we would like to keep as our little secret. But the quality of this place means many other reviews will scupper that plan!
We first stayed here in 2006, and returned in Sept 2013. To be honest, little has changed. There are more a la carte's (the Turkish one is not quite as intimate as before, having moved from the beach area to the gardens). The lobby is more open plan and better. Re-decoration has been done. And our room this year was only a few doors away from where we stayed the 1st time.
The Turquoise meets our requirements perfectly. Although busy, it is so vast, that one has no problem doing whatever the mood dictates. We always use the 'Quiet pool', being a couple in their 50's, and not wanting an 'in your face' holiday.
The all inclusive element works very well (no arm bands!), and there is always something to eat or drink whenever needed. We arrived very late and took advantage of the 'all night breakfast' and 24 hour bar.
Entertainment is typically Turkish. We didn't visit the shows, but they obviously try to provide a quality programme. One thing we could criticise was that in the main bar area in the evening, it could take quite a while to be served by a waiter. Buy hey - go to the bar yourself, or use another bar if it is a problem.
There are many features we didn't use. Like the slides, the spa etc., but they looked very nice.
Taxi into Side was 8 Euros. Shopping provides less bargains than other parts of Turkey, so you have to really be selective with purchasing the original clothing copies. However, the town has lots of character compared to others in, say, the Dalaman region.
So basically, don't bother with this place. Leave it to us and the Germans (probably 80% of the hotel population is German). We are booking next year again. Our only gripe is that we have to do it via Thomson these days. In 2007 it was just as good, but half of the price when booking separately. Ah well - can't have everything!

Well what can I say, we stayed for a week and it was an amazing hotel. I have never seen a hotel so clean, not a bit of rubbish anywhere. The food was great and very diverse. There was plenty of alcohol, soft drinks, loads of different types of tea (I loved the apple tea so much I bought some), coffee, different fruit juices, loads.

The room was a standard one with TV, shower, couch, big bed and balcony it was very comfortable and the mini bar was stocked daily with soft drinks and beer. The room was also cleaned daily (they even folded my clothes which I dumped on the couch!!). The bathroom was beautiful and had a great walk in shower which could easily fit two people.

The pools are lovely and big (but really cold), there were plenty of sun loungers but you have to be early to get one in a prime location. This is where the BUT comes in on Sunday we were sitting by the pool at about 10am when they started playing a rap strong with extremely sexual and explicit lyrics. I asked the staff to turn the music off and they apologised saying they didn’t understand the English word very well so they changed the music. 5 minutes later another song came on with explicit lyrics again, I approached them and they changed it again. And after a 3rd time it happened they changed the songs to German. The problem was there were a lot of children around and because of the lack of English knowledge by the staff they just could not tell what was on.

The hotel visitors are predominantly German (out of over 1000 visitors about 110 English), so I can understand the language problem, but really it’s not on.

Overall we loved the hotel and we are looking to go back in a few years, but may learn German first lol.

For me and my partner it was our first visit to the Hotel Turquiose and Side, Turkey and we were pleasantly surprised by the holiday that was recommended by our holiday agent.

The Hotel Turquoise itself was a good first experience of Turkey for us. Ranging from friendly staff to good quality food, it did not disappoint. However, the local hotel staff spoke limited English, but were very accommodating.

Food and drink is served 24 hours a day which for late and early arrivals can be a life saver! The selection of food is very good, from a la carte menu to full buffet range at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The best of the a la carte restaurants being the Turkish for us, which was a first for us to try real Turkish food.

The hotel grounds are massive and you cannot see the main Hotel building from the road, only some villas. This is because it is set within woodland leading through to the sea. This however does not reduce sun lounging areas which are plentiful. Although finding a bed in those areas after 9am can be quite a challenge when the hotel is full. Across the complex there are a variety of bar locations and food service areas (best of all the afternoon tea and cakes bar). You are never anymore than a 30 second walk to the nearest bar unless you are lucky enough to grab a bed along either of the 2 sea piers the hotel owns. Even though the hotel was full during our stay, due to the spacious grounds there was always room to get away from it all. We did have some rain during our holiday and this did mean we were dependant on inside entertainment which was plentiful with Wifi throughout the hotel grounds and good bar area atmosphere. The area around the hotel is quite active with a regular bus and taxi service opposite the hotel entrance making it easy and safe to get further a field to the neighbouring resort centres.

The Hotel Spa provided a few package deals and were of good value and with some bartering came down in price. The spa itself was very well presented and well maintained providing a relaxing experience. The staff were very friendly but again some of the masseuses did not speak any English and had to be translated by others. However their knowledge and professionalism was certainly not limited. Something we would both recommend on your stay.

My wife and I stayed for 10 nights AI through Thomson at the Turquoise, and can only support all the other excellent reviews of the hotel that persuaded us to go there in the first place.
We had a third floor room in the main building, this was very comfortable and the bed was about the best "holiday bed" we've experienced. It must be a Super King size and we found sleeping very easy and restful.
We had a balcony overlooking the driveway up to the hotel and the pine tree wood and gardens at the front of the hotel. This meant that we weren't disturbed in any way by the Terrace music that went on until about 11 o clock some nights as we were on the opposite side, the terrace being on the sea side of the hotel.
The only possible issue we had was that the aircon was more noisy than usual, however, we turned it off at night and opened the balcony doors and slid the insect curtains across, this meant our room was relativel cool during the night, even though the temperatures were up in the high teens, low twenties. Daytime temperatures were 28c - 31c and the proximity to the sea meant there was always a pleasant breeze blowing around the hotel and beach areas.
The main pool is very big but not excessively deep, and quite warm. There are other pools close to the villas in the hotel grounds, there's a "quiet pool" for adults adjacent to the indoor pool and at the perimeter of the hotel there's a small water park and pools meant for little ones and parents and this is also where the kids club is situated and run during the daytime to allow mums & dads to have some time to themselves.
Further again from the pools is the beach and two piers that the Turquoise own, with sunbeds and parasols in more than sufficient numbers, there's also many sunbeds around the pools and in the grassed landscaped areas adjacent to the pools. I've never seen as many sunbeds in one hotel and while we were there, the hotel was enforcing a "no towels on sunbeds before 9am" rule!!
What that meant was that many people went down and grabbed sunbeds before 9 and stayed with them until after 9 then went for breakfast, thus not breaking the rule, but when gathering the beach towels in the morning at the towel desk near the main pool, there always seemed to be one or two personal towels that had been removed from those beds that had been illegally claimed, this is the first time i've seen this policy enforced by a hotel.
There are a number of eateries at the hotel, the main dining room, Kervansaray, served buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner meals. There's 5 A La carte restaurants at no extra cost if you are AI unless you want to use them more than once, when there's a standing charge of 10 euro per person. The 5 are Turkish, Chinese, Italian, Fish & Steak. You have to book these in advance, although we didn't bother as the food is excellent in both quality and quantity in the Kervansaray and it to has themed nights such as Viennese or Turkish.
The range of salads, meats and fish is excellent and I doubt anyone could get tired of the fare on offer and the choices you had.
There are several bars around the hotel and poolsides serving the usual range of AI drinks, mainly locally brewed, but there was always generous amounts given and also cocktails. Efes is the beer served at the hotel and there are choices of wine, but having tried these I can't say we were impressed.
Theres a patisserie open every day from 4pm until 6.30pm and this also serves Ice Cream, theres Ice Cream also available in the Kervansaray during meal times.
The hotel has good evening entertainment available at its Amphitheatre, shows include Chinese Acrobats, Russian State Circus and other show acts, as well as groups on at the terrace stage, where you can also dance if you wish.
There's a spa offering differing types of massages and treatments, a highly rated hairdressers (according to the Thomson rep, the hairdresser has worked on the sets of several notable films) and a shop selling newspapers and gifts as well as a couple of shops selling clothes, optical goods and leather bags.
We went into Side on the bus (called a dolmus) and were dropped off by some ruins about a mile or so from the main street leading to the harbour. Be aware, this is not an easy walk if you have difficulties walking, we had to take a taxi but at 7 Turkish Lira (about £2.00) it was worth it.
Incidentally, everything can be bartered down from drinks to food to taxi fares and in any shops you can obtain decent reduction by being a bit hard nosed with your offers.
Don't think you are being too low with your offers, you'll only be allowed to walk away when the vendor isn't making a profit!!
All of the hotel staff we met were very friendly and happy to help you, even though they might assume you are either German or Dutch initially as they are the predominant nationalities there. There are some staff who can speak english pretty well (Erkhan 2 is one who we liked most and also Adem in the Lounge Bar) but there isn't a problem being understood at all.
Another thing about the hotel was the notable absence of football shirts and tattoos, which some might see as a reflection of the type of place the hotel is.
We wouldn't usually return to a place once visited as we like to try different places, but there's no doubt that the quality of the Turquoise will have us back there at some time in the future.
An Excellent place.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms also overlook the Terrace which might mean you could have some noise to deal with if...

We travelled to the Turquoise on 17 September 2013 for 1 week, as a relaxing getaway for our wedding anniversary. This was our third visit to Turkey, visiting Fethiye and Belek previously.

The Transfer from the airport took ages, we were supposed to be first or second drop off as part of the platinum package, however we were last as the 6th drop off! Not a big deal, but not quite as sold by Thomson

We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom room, which was quite impressive. The rooms are very modern, and had a kingsize bed with robes and slippers provided. The second room had twin beds (just in case we needed a huffy bed!) The minibar was stocked each day with soft drinks and 2 beers.
The hotel is well laid out, and everything is on hand. There were few English whilst we were there, the majority of people were Dutch or German.
We were always able to get sunbeds, although the grassy area between the pool and the beach was very popular, and there were a couple of takeover bids for our parasol!
The walk into Side takes about 35 mins along the beach, the ruins were impressive, but it was so much hotter there!
We tried 4 of the a la carte restaurants, Chinese, Italian, Turkish and Steak. I thought the food in the Chinese was disappointing. There were set starters and desserts, with a choice for main, apart from in the steak house, where the only option was steak and chips.
We have had nicer a la carte restaurants, but the surroundings were very nice, and it was good to be served your meal rather than the buffet.
The main restaurant was very nice, and there was always a lot of choice, the fish was particularly good.
We tried not to be tempted by the patisserie, although we did have an ice cream each day.
The entertainment was ok, some good shows such as the Moscow state Circus, and the Bejing Acrobats, but this was only fro 45 minutes, and not every night. The other entertainment consisted of music and dancing, to a lot of older type music, not our thing, but entertaining to watch!
The staff work very hard, thank you to Pamela for pre booking the a la carte for our wedding anniversary, the flowers on the table were nice touch.
Nothing is too much trouble, the staff are very friendly, but not overly so, the drinks were very good, Kevin now has a slight addiction to Mojitos!
My favourite bar was the beach bar on an evening, very chilled out, with the sound of the sea, and the lit up jetty, and the best Mojito.
The weather was fantastic about 32 degrees each day, but cooler on a night.
We had a fantastic time, but It went over for too quickly!!!
Overall this was our favourite Hotel we have stayed in......better start planning for next year!
Hope this helps anyone thinking about booking

Room Tip: The Sea view was fantastic, but if you like an early night room 1270 overlooks the bar so is quite n...

Stayed at the Turquoise 2 years ago and loved it, in the time since we were there it has been upgraded, the foyer looks so different, very posh!! The entertainment team were not as good as 2 years ago, back then they were such good fun & were around the pool in the day doing little game's, now they are very young & only seemed to interact with the chosen few. The evening entertainment has improved, very entertaining!! Love the food, the grounds are beautiful, the staff, even down to the maids are very friendly, the only down point was the entertainment team but that certainly didn't spoil my holiday, can't wait to go back!!!
