We have just returned from a fantastic two week holiday at the Barut Hemera. Check-in was quick and pleasant and we were showed to our room which had a great view from the balcony over the main pools, gardens and the sea. The room was spacious, clean and came with all the usual toiletries plus a kettle with a selection of teas (various fruit ones as well as breakfast) and coffee. There is a mini bar which is restocked daily and includes two bottle of Efes malt beer, a bottle of Coca Cola, two bottles of sparkling water, a larger bottle of still water plus a couple of cartons of fruit juice. Our room also had a plug-in mosquito repellent which came in very handy. We found a beach bag on our bed upon arrival with a couple of hotel beach towels. These can be replaced at no charge from the small kiosk near the pool bar. The beach bag is a great idea. There are a few pools plus the hotel has its own beach. We regularly used the beach and the quieter pool near the Olive restaurant as there was never any problem getting a sun lounger. That said, the main pool area had plenty of spaces but it just wasn't for us. The grounds are beautiful and well tended and in the shaded areas towards the beach, there are a number of loungers and beds available.

Facilities are great. The fitness studio has everything you need from cardio machines to free weights. My wife used the spa three times for a Turkish bath and massages and found it to be cheaper and more effective than visits to the osteopath back in the UK. There are two tennis courts and a mini golf too.

The food choices were absolutely brilliant. The main buffet restaurant has a wide variety of dishes to suit all tastes. There are lots of Turkish dishes to try which was great. We both were very impressed and pretty much enjoyed everything we tried. There is a waiter service for drinks which is quick and reliable at lunch and dinner, however, depending upon where you sit, it can take a while to be asked if you want coffee which is our only gripe. We managed to dine at all of the à la carte restaurants - you book through a touchscreen machine next to Guest Relations just in front of the Lobby Bar. Maybe we were lucky as I have read that not everybody could get in. Our favourite two were the Olive and the Akdeniz International restaurants. Service at both was top notch, your glasses are always full. The food at both was delicious, as it was at other eateries on site. The Hanimeli Patisserie had a great choice of cakes, pastries and biscuits as well as ice cream.

The bars are all fine and we didn't have any problems getting served and most of the time, didn't have to wait. In the evenings though at the pool bar, the entertainment of a trio singing outdated songs (usual easy listening dross) meant we moved on to somewhere else. We didn't see any of the shows which take place at the beach bar as it's not really our thing. The lobby bar near reception is open 24 hours too.

What we liked was that everything was all inclusive. We had our first experience of all inclusive in Fuerteventura April and thought it was good however it was not a patch on the Hemera. Here, everything is all inclusive. The safe in your room is free, Wi-Fi is free and works everywhere, beach towels are free etc.

Side town centre is about a 30 minute walk along the prom with a number of places to stop off for a drink on the way - a bar called Lime was really good. Opposite the entrance of the hotel on the main road are several shops all selling the same things plus a few chemists, restaurants and a cash machine. You can catch the Dolmus into Side and Manavgat straight outside the hotel - 2 lira to Side, 3 to Manavgat one way.

We had a brilliant time at the Hemera and from now on, I think we will always compare any other hotels to this one. It was our first visit to Turkey and we really enjoyed the area, visiting several places by bus. We found the local people to be very friendly and honest and will definitely be returning to the country in the future.

Room Tip: We booked a seaview room and stayed in 2304 on the third floor. Great view over the grounds and out...

We stayed here as a family for two weeks in July. The hotel is lovely it caters very well for families.
My biggest thing I loved the most was the kids club, Jasmine who works there is amazing with the children and really made my daughters hoilday a special time. They do so many lovely activities with the children. And the mini disco they have in the evening is brilliant. My daughter cried when we left because she loved jasmine so much and still talks about her every day. We hope to come back next yr and I hope she will be there next summer.

The Hemera is a lovely well-established hotel with nice grounds and should be worthy of 5 stars. It lacks a couple of things that I would expect, in particular waiter service at the bars in the evening and something, although relatively insignificant but never the less particularly annoying, coasters for the drinks. Condensation from the glasses was forever dripping over me when I took a drink.

The welcome on arrival at about half past midnight was excellent and we were rushed through so that we could get something to eat before the restaurant closed at one.
Overall the food was reasonable, plenty of choice, and I particularly liked the Turkish dishes. The food is more geared to the German and Russian guests, but personally I like to try different dishes when on holiday (though maybe not the Brussel sprouts that seemed to be in abundance!). We tried two of the al-a-carte restaurants with favourable results but could not get the Olive restaurant even though we tried the automatic booking system just after midnight when it supposed to give you the option of booking three days in advance.

Sunbeds were available at all times (even for a group of 5), so no need to be up at the crack of dawn to reserve one. That’s a big bonus in my opinion.

Two of my party wanted to swim with dolphins. The holiday rep wanted stupid money for it. Reception organised the trip for us, arranged for a car and driver to take them there, wait for them and bring them back (without the ‘unscheduled’ stops to the gold factory etc) for a very reasonable price. It saved about €60.

The evening entertainment needs re-thinking. Three different acrobat shows in a short period is a bit much (even though they were excellent) and after the second dance show, we were nearly killed in the stampede of guests leaving after the second number! Perhaps a bit more variety for next season is in order. However that is just me. I’m sure others enjoyed it. Going back to the acrobats, one of them, the Moscow Circus was predominantly children - the star being only 5 years old. I know that they are born into the circus lifestyle but I thought it rather sad that their childhood is spent working.

So why have I given this review only 2 stars? Well for one reason and that is because my wife was constantly complaining about being ignored at the bars. On one occasion she went to the bar with no one else waiting. Other people then arrived, were served and she was still left waiting. Another time she went to get a coffee. After several minutes I then went to the bar, got the coffee myself and called her back to the table to drink it. This is totally unacceptable. She is a paying guest like everyone else and is entitled to equal service. I know that she is not alone as it is mentioned elsewhere in other reviews. Of course the management have replied that they welcome the feedback and will be educating the bar staff. Well it’s made no difference. Either management is weak or some of the bar staff just don’t care. If you have already booked your holiday and you encounter the same results I suggest that you make a stand otherwise it’ll continue to happen. It didn’t spoil our holiday but it did put a dampener on it.

We would have been more than happy to return to the Hemera otherwise, but we won’t. There are an abundance of 5 star hotels in Turkey and I’m sure others will provide the service that comes with the stars.

Our very first experience to Turkey as a family holiday and we were very impressed with the quality of this hotel. All the staff were very helpful and attentive ,the food was of a very high standard and even the fussy eater can rest assured here. The pool areas were huge and the gardens nice and pretty, beach side was well organised and plenty of loungers and umbrellas for everyone. The cleaning staff are award winning as the whole place is absolutely spotless. We did try the turkish spa which was fabulous and my partner had 2x wet shaves at the barbers , he loved it so much, a must in Turkey and only a couple of euros.Enjoyed our week and with 2x teens all very happy.Bonus !!!!!

Room Tip: We had a Deluxe room it was ground floor onto the gardens , very nice.

This is one of the best all inclusive hotels we have visited. The food is excellent with five al la carte restaurants. The only area of concern is the customer service at reception but don't let this put you off.The reception staff are most unhelpful usually about 5 strong some on their mobile phones they are distinctly unhelpful. On arrival we were not provided a map of the resort or any introduction about facilities. When you asked questions they made no effort to answer your query. The customer relations desk are similar. The hotel has a computerised booking system for restaurants and the staff watch you struggle on their booking system and only assist if you specifically ask despite seeing us have difficulties. However, the facilities are superb with plenty of room to either sunbath or swim.I recommend the quiet pool where sun beds are plentiful and you have a swimming pool to yourself on occasions. The rooms are a good size with the mattresses being top quality and give you excellent comfort. The restaurants are a good quality I recommend the Olive restaurant for lunch and dinner. The fish and Turkish restaurant for dinner. The entertainment team do a good job.A majority of the shows are outside groups. They are varying quality with the Sea of Love show being the best.I was uncomfortable with the Moscow Circus Act using very young children who were thrown around putting extreme pressure on their young bodies.Overall, this was an excellent holiday just the reception staff need to realise they are at the front desk to help guests not to chat with their colleagues.

We returned from a week at Barut Hemera on 29 June and this was a first class hotel! The food was excellent with an enormous selection and presentation was amazing including the 5 alacarte resestaurants. The accommodation was very clean, air conditioned rooms and very comfortable, the main pool was huge (there are 3) and perfectly kept as were the beautiful grounds, the entertainment at the beach bar which was a very short walk from the main hotel was very good and the beach itself pristine. There was never a shortage of sun loungers both at the pool and the beach. This was an all round thoroughly enjoyable experience of the highest standard and quality. Would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again!
