“Not for Brits!!!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2013

Just got back from an 8 night stay at the hotel with my husband and 2 year old. Weather was lovely but was let down by the hotel. The hotel was very clean and the family room was ideal. Very big! The beach is about 10 min walk so not too bad. That is all the positives....

We arrived at 9pm and was told the room was not ready! At breakfast the following morning we realised that the majority of guests were German or Russian. Every meal time was a fight! Guests pushing in front of you to get to the food first. My daughter was pushed over on several occasions and no apology was given. There was no food options for children so my daughter spent most of the time eating bread and ham that we took from the breakfast buffet!

The evening entertainment was German so my daughter didn't really get involved as she didn't understand. The same with the kids club in the day time.

Most German and Russian guests refused to share or hold a lift if they knew you were British.

The majority of the staff did not speak English and only had time for other nationalities. At times they could be quite rude.

We only saw the Thomas Cook rep at the welcome meeting when she tried to sell us trips but there was no further sightings of her for the rest of our stay.

I do personally feel that Thomas Cook should advise customers that the hotel cater for Germans/Russians. if you are aware then you can make the decision as to whether you are happy to pay to stay there and not have the surprise when you arrive.

This is not the best hotel in Antalya but it is far from being the worst ( as earlier reviews might suggest). I went by myself for a weeks r&r. I have stayed elsewhere in the area before. The hotel was clean, bright, good sized room. Food was good, and a reasonable selection. Staff generally very pleasant and helpful - note negative comments from other reviewers but suspect that part of the problem has been cultural, if you make an effort with them, they will with you. I saw some waiting staff treated quite rudely by other guests, so hardly surprising that they can be a little abrupt when they are not treated with the respect they deserve. Some reviewers suggest the hotel is very orientated towards German guests, that was not my experience. There was a wide range of European nationalities there last week and the staff made an effort with everyone, with many of them having sufficient grasp of 3, 4 or 5 languages to enable good service and basic conversation. As far as I am concerned the Seher delivered what I expected, which was a good standard of accommodation, reasonably good food, good service and. 7 days of superb sunshine. The more negative reviewers might find what they seem to be looking for in the area if they are prepared to pay twice as much and tip regularly and generously.

I myself and an assistant, I´m using a walker, stayed three nights in this hotel on a group travel with a company where you never know in advance where you will get the accomodation. The main entrance has long steps and no handrails so I had to walk to an opening for cars. Coming up to the hotel there was a steep ramp for wheelchairs and walkers, but no rails ! Freightening. We got a room on the entrance floor with a big room and a double bed, before there was a small space with two single beds, hard as stone. I had the impression we had got the room as they thought we were homosexuals. Talking with our guide he declared that all rooms were laid out in the same way. Both rooms had effecient heat-pumps and flat TV-sets, most german stations. There were no free water and soft drinks in the fridge. Cleaning and new towels every day.We had only the breakfast that was a mix of european and turkish cold plates, fresh bread, fried eggs. No fresh squized orange juice. Reception and public rooms were big but guests in the bar had to leave with their drinks or wine at 11 pm when the bar closed. Enourmous surface around a mediun size pool, not heated.

We visited Turkey in October half term 2012. It was my first my holiday in many years and my teenage son's very first time abroad. The flight and transfers there and back went very well...We did meet a rude passport official at Antalya airport who was only interested in taking the £10 entry into the country. After an hours coach ride we arrived in the early hours of the morning and the reception staff were helpful and polite, however they didn't speak much English.
The 4 star hotel (but classed as a 5 star in Turkey) was extremely clean and spacious, our rooms were lovely, air con (didn't work) but wasn't hot enough really to need it, we had a nice balcony, we didn't have the best view but had adjacent rooms next to our friends. The shower was powerful too, there was a hairdryer and good wardobe/cupboard space..
The pool was lovely and clean but very, very cold..We found English to be a real issue at the hotel, the staff were very attentive to the German and Russians, especially at the bar when getting anything to drink,we actually found the bar staff abrubt and somewhat rude to us, however we were told by the Rep not to take it personally!.
There was a games room and spa yet these were NOT included in the 'all inclusive' price, however we did use the gym free of charge..There was no evening entertainment except a disco on a couple of nights, which was empty, so we didn't bother, all this could have been due to it being the end of the season...
You also had to pay for the pool towels, but it was only a very small amount and we only used the poolside twice as there was so much else to do and see away from the hotel. There was a very good choice of food in the restaurants, we tended to stick to what we liked but you could be very adventurous with the choice, however, a small detail, they did tend to not have milk available every day and when asking for it the waiting staff didn't seem bothered to find any. One chef was very polite and smiled alot, making conversation..I felt that if you were not 'tipping' some of the the staff as a rule, they didn't want to know you.
The staff worked extremely hard with long shifts but didn't tend to make any conversation, maybe this was due to the language barrier..
We did manage to meet a few English speaking families at the hotel, who also seemed to share our views..

The local beach was 15 minutes from the hotel, it was clean and there were plenty of sun beds and shade if you needed it. Again, sadly the staff at the beach cafe and bar were abrubt, rude and very unhelpful.
We did not let this spoil our holiday as we were having a lovely time..
We visited the very old Side town, travelling by local mini bus, again communication was an issue but we got there in the end..There was a lovely harbour in Side, boat trips, many places to eat and many, many shops to buy from in which you could get some very good bargains, very cheaply..Some of the locals can be very pushy so you have to be firm but polite if you are not interested.

We ate at the Aphrodite restaurant, (recommended) the staff were excellent, nuthing was too much for them, the food was lovely and one of the co owners was so welcoming, spoke various languages and thankfully fluent English..There are many dogs cats around Turkey and they do tend to come close to you when eating, however we were not bothered by it.
We paid just £30 pound each for a trip to the Manavgat river and beach, then visited the local markets, with a meal on the boat included, the villages and old towns can be a little bit of an eye opener but we had a great time. You must be prepared to embrace the Turkish culture and get the best from it and we did meet some lovely people out there...
When leaving the hotel for the airport we were helped with our bags by a very polite member of staff, who also took photos for us as a group..
We would return to Turkey again, maybe not the same hotel..

Room Tip: A room over looking the road was a little noisy in the mornings with deliveries, but even with a poo...

the hotel rooms were good, spacious and modern, the food is quite good but repetitive and the queues are ridiculous. the place is overrun by germans and most of the staff speak fluent german but struggle to understand english. the location of the hotel is good as it is a three minute walk to the beach and the bus stops outside to take you to the town, we went during the school holidays at the end of the season and i would hate to think what the queues for the bar and restaurant would be like at the height of summer as staffing was definately an issue and the night time entertainment was non-existant, drink at the bar or go out elsewhere.
my son was also quite dissapointed as twenty seven tv channels in german but nbc news was the only channel in english.

Room Tip: the family rooms are good as you get seperate rooms with seperate tvs and all rooms airconditioned
