Stayed here for 2 weeks in Sept 2009.
Excellent standard - spotlessly clean, although one or two carpets outside some of the 2nd floor bedrooms look as though they are ready to be replaced.
We arrived after the restaurant had closed for dinner but we didn't have long to wait until they opened again at midnight for a set meal for incoming guests. We later discovered that we could have requested room service between midnight and 6.00 am at no extra charge - at other times you have to pay.
All meals were of excellent quality and staff very attentive and friendly. The main restaurant has two small outside dining areas but they soon get filled up. Some nights it was like the Whacky Races watching people queue up and race through to get the outside tables, but there is plenty of room inside, so no rush needed. Indeed if you leave it a bit later you would probably get seated outside if you wished. We did quite a few times in the area overlooking the pool, which is very nice.
You also have a choice of eating at specialist Italian, Turkish, Chinese or fish restaurants which are all good. You can choose to dine there 4 nights in any 7 as part of the all inclusive. The Turkish one also offers a musical trio and a belly dancer. You have to book for these restaurants and not all of them are open every night so best to plan ahead.
No shortage of loungers at the pool area. There is also an extensive stretch of exclusive beach right outside. Again no shortage of loungers but the ones at the front tend to get reserved early in the day. Whilst at the beach you will probably choose lunch at the beach restaurant which again is of a high standard with freshly cooked food. Look out for a waiter called Adil - he's good fun and speaks good English, but he supports Manchester United. Well nobody's perfect!
The hotel also offers a spa and physio but if you do want treatment you can get it a lot cheaper along the beach. The beach itself is good hard sand and it's a pleasant 40 minute walk into Side town, where you will find a good range of shops, restaurants and bars.
Don't bother taking Turkish Lira - all the shops take and prefer Euros.
It's not necessary to tip at the hotel but it is appreciated if you do, and there are tip boxes at the bar and in the restaurants. People tip in all sorts of currencies and you may well be asked at some stage if you can change coins into notes as the banks won't accept coins.
The evening entertainment is on the whole acceptable especially when outside groups come in. On other evenings the animation team do their best but let's just say that their enthusiasm cannot be faulted, and although most of the animation team could speak many languages their tendency was to present mainly in German.
We had a game of boules at the beach one day organised by a member of the animation team. He spoke in English to encourage us to play but after that it was German only for the other guests, more or less completely ignoring us apart from a couple of misplaced rude gestures, no doubt his idea of fun. However in true British fashion we said nothing in order not to spoil it for others, but we didn't join in on subsequent days.
This was the only real negative about the whole place, apart from the pounds gained with all the food - but that's our fault!
Would we go again? Most certainly!
