“Beautiful & Helpful !”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

Me and my family have just recently returned from a 8 night holiday in Side. There was me, my boyfriend, mum, dad and 3 sisters. When we first arrived we did have a bad day at first, our transfer driver had no idea where he was going (fortunately there was a rep waiting outside the hotel for us - amazing) and the first two apartments we were given were not very nice (my families one being way to small for the 5 of them) and my and the boyfriends room literally falling apart. However as we did not arrive until 4am in the morning we were unable to see the manager until 8am (in which Idris arrived earlier then usual just to help us out - in the mean time the two receptionist guys were amazing and very helpful)

Once we were settled into our new apartments with no fuss what so ever from Idris (who is lovely and the new apartments were amazing, 3 balconies and pool view LOVELY) The food was lovely (albeit the breakfast a little repetitive) at dinner there was always a selection, freshly cooking food in front of us, turkey, freshly cut tuna and beautiful chicken kebab. Just remember you wont find much pork in turkey!

The guys who worked on site were very very helpful, always making sure we were okay. The hotel also offered currency exchange (although the rate not as high as the local banks and post offices - very helpful once those had closed) For example my father had his wallet stolen and the reception allowed him to make the calls necessary to cancel all his cards !

The pools are beautiful - they are cleaned every night. Open from 8am til 8pm so days by the pool are epic and necessary. The first pool is by the bar so it is rather loud as they are always playing music (mostly being modern pop music) and the second pool is considered the quiet pool, either way they are fun. There are the 1.4m pools for the adults and confident children who swim, then you got the 0.4m pools for the toddlers. Only bad aspect is there is never a life guard so keep an eye on the children.

The bar is amazing, you can get as many drinks as you want throughout the day - however there is extra charge for imported drinks and cocktails. Although they are value for money, we paid 20 TL for a fishbowl which is about £8 and it took four of us to finish it ! The entertainment is mostly for the children but is fun to watch.

The local area is very good, local supermarket and souvenir shops and they don't pester you, the trips are amazing, we managed to get a day boat trip for the seven of us and quad biking for 4 of us for around £180. The boat trip was from 9 until 5 with pick up and drop off, this included two stops at an island where we could swim, plus another stop where people were invited to jump of the boat! Plus lunch which was beautiful. The quad biking was very good, this included pick up and drop off and included 2 hours of driving. If you were unable to drive yourself you were given a guide to drive the bike so you could still experience the fun.

As a mention if you are going to eat out i would highly recommend The Crown which is 2 minutes from site and Sultan Blue which is 5 minutes from site. Both are lovely restaurants and both cost me and my boyfriend 50-60 TL !! Which is about £20 for the meals, drinks and extra's !!

I would love to say a massive thank you to all those that work at Sunlight Gardens thank you for making our holiday amazing :)

My wife and I went here from the 6th to the 20th June 2013.
The staff here certainly do try their very best to make your holiday.
We arrived at 2045 and were told to leave our cases in reception and go straight into dinner which finished at 2100. Billy met us, and from that time on every time we went into the restaurant he looked after us, along with Raheesh who cleared up after us..
Only grumble with the food is that its on a 1 week cycle. So we knew what was coming on the 2nd week, AND there is NO ice cream in the restaurant. Having said that we always found something to eat, and it was always freshly prepared.
We always used the "quiet" pool. No shortage of sunbeds either.
We had a Turkish bath together while we were there, and I would recommend package number 1. We paid 60 Turkish Lira, but we could have paid 25euros if we had wanted. This included a steam room, followed by an ex-foliating scrub, Rinse, Foam Massage, rinse, then into a cool room for a face mask, and finally an oil massage. Took about an hour and fifteen minutes in total, and we were together all the way through. Have it early in your stay though as it can scrub away your tan.
Our "room"(V-014) would have slept 8, and there were only 2 of us. We had a downstair shower and toilet, living space, sink, fridge, double sofa-bed, and balcony with chairs and table. Then you went upstairs to 1/ double bedroom with air-con and balcony, 2/ single with a cot, 3/ two singles with a balcony and an upstair toilet and shower room. There was another set of stairs but the door at the top was locked. On arrival there was a bottle of water in the fridge, very useful.
We could see the mosque from our balcony. This did have its disadvantage in that we were woken every morning before sunrise by the call to prayer, so be warned. I am sure everyone in Side could hear that as well though.
As for drinks, well this is a muslim country, but I still wasn't prepared for the whisky and brandy to come out of the same bottle????. It was a spirit and did taste in-between both so what the heck I'm on holiday. Sharif, Yusuf (I refused to call him Joseph) and Mehmet worked very hard and always had a smile. Beer is Perge and very drinkable as is the Turkish tea (Chai). If you drink gin and tonic get it in a small glass otherwise its like drinking tonic water.
Entertainment also is on a 1week cycle so again you know whats coming 2nd week.
Having said that I did enjoy the Turkish nights on Wednesdays. All the hotel is Turkish that night. The sunbeds are removed and a market set up, food is kebab etc. and entertainment is typical turkish dancing plus the obligatory belly dancer (have some paper money ready for her).

Would I go here again, YES but only for a week.

Had such a great time at sunlight gardens! The Turkish have a real sense of good english crack! Great range of food and good special evenings when markets attend and camel rides are available! Good both adult and kid entertainment..! Morning and evening dances for kids and fun to watch parents get trailed into the fun of it!
Great shops close by and great business around the corner for day trips from a man called Alex. Got really good deals, went quadding water rafting and to an aqua park all for 60euro.

You get what your paying for! Rooms arent 5 star but thats not what it is advertised as. Comfy beds and nice living area then 2 metres from the pool. What else do you need?

The beach 500m away has such soft sands and a wide range of water sports. I'LL DEFINATELY BE BACK!

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from a weeks holiday at Sunlight Garden - and we are both very sad to have left!! On arrival they had left a couple of plates of food in our room (we didnt eat; but the thought counts!!). In honesty, the first impression of our room wasnt great. The apartment itself was huge; 2 double bedrooms, large bathroom, massive living/dining area and balcony. However it smelt rather musty and was in desperate need of a lick of paint!! the beds however were really comfy, and at the end of the day we were only in our room to sleep as most of the day we were by the pool etc so couldnt complain! We had a maid service everyday and change of sheets/towels etc.

The food was good; however was the same most days for breakfast and lunch (mainly consisting of rice and vegetable kebab (which was actually meat!!). Tea time was varied, having a chinese night/burger night/kebab etc. The bar and restaurant staff really made the holiday for us; very friendly and will bend over backwards to make it an enjoyable trip. we had a good laugh with them, and they were not only extremely hard working, but also very entertaining!! My boyfriend also got involved in most of the days activities consisting of darts, bowls & water polo so there was always something going on. I was happy just relaxing by the pool; we kept by the second pool towards the back of the hotel as a little quieter away from the bar (but not too far!).

I would also recommend having a Turkish Bath and Massage - we had ours on our first day and it was amazing. A few outside companies do trips for a massage, but I would recommend paying and having it on site - that way you can roll out of the parlour straight on to your sun bed!! I would very much recommend and we would certainly hope to go back and stay at the hotel again. We met lovely people at the hotel and also repeat guests - so the staff/hotel must be doing something right!!

We would also recommend if you go in to Side to go to a restaurant called "Aphrodite" right on the sea front - we made a reservation and they picked us up from the hotel to take us to the restaurant (free of charge, but we paid a tip).. the food was incredible - best fillet steak i've had in a long time and still half the price of what we would pay in the UK!!

can't wait to go back again! :)

We travelled as a couple on our first holiday abroad. We both came across this hotel as a bit of an accident when looking at holidays on Thomas Cook website, we decided that it looked like value for money and it sure enough was! Rooms were excellent and very spacious ideal if travelling as a family. Rooms were cleaned daily with sheets being made into different designs daily. Staff were all very very friendly and always on hand to help you with anything you needed. Both our first time in turkey and we loved every minute of it. Food at hotel was lovely although breakfast could have been improved. Both pool areas were spacious and plenty of sun beds were available. Hotel is in just the right location in Side. We used the free beach service a few times which was great as this meant you had a free ride down to the beach where again sun beds are allocated to each hotel and beach staff again are very friendly. Would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Antalya who wants value for money!

just got back from two weeks at the sunlight gardens and had a fantastic time. missed our first flight due to traffic but the thomas cook team were extremely helpful and got us on a thomson flight later that day. when we arrived at the hotel it was a nice touch to have a meal waiting for us in the room. the bar staff and waiting on staff were amazing and so friendly Musa was so friendly and funny all the time even though his english wasnt the best we managed to have a laugh with him everyday. the rooms were clean and big and cleaned daily, aircon could be better but it wasnt a major problem. both pool areas were lovely and we preferred the quiet pool to the back o the hotel.all inclusive drinks were fine but it was a bit of a pain that at 10.30pm you had to go individually to the bar for drinks.our apartment was at the back of the hotel and near the mosque we heard it the first night and wondered what the hell it was but it never woke us again an wasnt a problem. the food on the first week was good, breakfasts were adequate with lunch and dinner very good but on the second week we noticed that it was chicken saute most lunch times and at dinner some nights were a disappointment,as always with all inclusive its was chips chips chips but the jacket potatoes they did occasionally were amazing.the bar staff were very tolerant of certain awkward customers who liked to complain about just about anything, and it seemed the only problems were with parents who let 16 year olds get drunk nightly and on occasion made a spectical of themselves. location of the hotel was excellent and the crown pub on the corner of the road served excellent food if you fancied a change from the hotel.we made lots of friends as there were alot of english there which was a refreshing change to other hotels in side. would we go back again?? in a flash! an we will definitely be booking for next year.

Me and my boyfriend went to this hotel for our first holiday in 2010, it has been the best holiday by far so we decided to visit again this year as our main holiday. The bar staff recognised us straight away and gave us a very warm welcome. We had a very good room last time and where very happy to be put into another one that was exactly the same. It had 2 double rooms so we could put all our belongings in one to keep it tidy. 2 big balconies and a large living space. 2 pools and 2 sunbathing areas and just a 10 minute walk to the beach with all the bars and restaurants. We didn't venture far as the hotel is so good we did like to stay around the bar there. The staff look after you around the clock from the breakfast staff to the night bar staff they can't do enough for you. They only have to see you sit down for dinner to come rush over to get you a drink. I would be happy to pay 3 times as much for this holiday the value is amazing. We will be back here next year. We haven't found another place like it. I am 26 and my boyfriend is 22, the hotel has a mixture of ages and its appropriate for families, and couples of all ages as the entertainment ranges. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!!! Special thanks to Ahmet and his team of bar staff for making the time here so enjoyable!
