Asteria Elita Resort
Ranked #176 of 334 Hotels in Manavgat
Reviewed August 22, 2013

I've just returned from Asteria Elita Resort where i spent a 7 days holiday (with my wife and 13 yo child). The location is great and huge (650.000 sqm), mostly an awesome park, but the rooms and the management (except food chapter) not worth 5 star.
My opinions :
1. The food = super. Incredible quality and numerous dishes, with an extra-point for the deserts. So, food worth 5 stars.
2. The rooms = small (18 sqm). I had a family room (28 sqm).
Main building (P+5) and 7 colonial bungalows (P+2). Better stay in bungalow Olive.
Air condition very good. Anyway not worth more than 4 stars.
3. The beach = stony, good sunbeds and beach facilities.
4. Pools = very, very poor. Water is not clean and stinks, as is not recirculated and full of chlorine (in the evening you can see how they pour huge quantity of chlorine in the water).
The slides (3) are very small and are working only between 10-12 and 14-17, hours which are not proper for children to stay in the sun. Pools worth not more than 3 stars.
5. Beverages = not quality. Some kind are fakes. Don't expect good quality espresso. Turkish coffee is good.
6. Animation = good.
As conclusion, an astonishing location with super quality food, good animation, but with bad beverages and very bad pools. I cannot imagine why management don't fix that !

This being our first visit to Turkey I went with a little apprehension, how quickly that feeling went.
Private transfer was well worth the extra money as it cut the time from 2 hours to just over an hour from Antalya. As soon as we got to reception we were given our wristbands and told to go straight to dinner as it was late and come back to finish checking in, this was greatly appreciated as we were all hungry.
We was in the nearest villa to the main building in a two bed family room. It was great, clean, spacious and the air conditioning worked 24/7!(each bedroom had its own unit and control). Maid cleaned and changed towels daily and the minibar was replenished daily. Two balconies and tv's,plenty of wardrobes and drawers for all 5 of us, even space for all the empty suitcases. We had as problem with our electrics which was dealt with within the hour.
Pool was kept spotless and although hotel was very busy always seemed to have enough space to swim. Sunbeds are an issue but we tended to stay in the garden area as they were packed like sardines around the pool. The water slides kept our 7 year old amused for hours, they were opend 10;00 till 12;00 then 2;00 till 5;00 with 2 lifeguards. Our two girls (15&17) enjoyed the main pool music and entertainment. Pool bar was good, especially the Mojitos, lunch was excellent and ice creams were free all day until 6! There was waffles at Beach restaurant at 5 and candy floss at pool bar, popcorn in evening.
All food was to a high standard, from main restaurant to beach bar, plenty of varied local and international dishes to choose from, thankfully they do not try to re- produce British dishes which I think is why it is a success.
We were however one of two British families in the hotel. this was not an issue and quite refreshing, a mixed bag of countries no one being the majority.
Our only gripe is dinner is between 7;30 -9;30 which is not long enough to seat and serve the whole hotel.
98%of tables were for 4 people leaving a battle for the larger tables of 6.It became rather embarrassing when my parents joined us for our last week trying to seat all 7 of us. On several occasions we had to leave and go back as there were no tables. We ended up going to dinner as late as possible once the Mini Disco had started as the restaurant cleared then but this only left us 45 minutes to eat.
The management team are always visible and clearly have a hands on approach they can be seen around the hotel day and night.
My only request and negative comment is that the main restaurants seating is organised and they adopt a "restaurant greeter" at the entrance to show you to a table, this would then stop 2 people sitting on a large 6 seater table and have more larger tables for bigger families. It would also keep a bit of control over the whole evening.
This is clean, friendly, great food/service hotel run by a dedicated team, it gives all the Spanish AI Hotels a run for there money!

Room Tip: Ask for a villa near the main building, its along walk in the heat!

I'll cut straight to the chase to save you reading on.
If you are travelling as a family, particularly with 1 child, and you are relying on your kids making friends with other British kids then ,sadly, this hotel is not for you. I say 'sadly' because otherwise this is an excellent hotel.
We travelled on 21st July 2013 and reckon the hotel was at about 75% occupancy which would equate to circa 2000 guests. We soon established that there was only 1 other British family in the entire hotel. They, like us, had travelled with a single child albeit she was 17 and our daughter is 13. 5 days into our hol they went home so it was just us left.

On to the hotel itself. The hotel consists of a main block and 7 3 storey villas each of which is centred around a pretty courtyard garden. I reckon each villa has about 30 rooms and it was in one of these we stayed. Our room was spotlessly clean although the 3rd bed that was squeezed in did make it a tad cramped. Daily maid service with fresh towels daily. The villas were set amongst beautifully maintained gardens.

Asteria hotels have a very good website which gives u a pretty good idea as to how the hotel is laid out so might be worth googling it.

The quality of the food could not be faulted. In the main restaurant there was a huge choice with lots being cooked freshly in the restaurant. During the day u could also eat at the pool bar, the beach bar(which also has a fresh fish BBQ) the relax pool bar(limited choice) and there was also a burger BBQ halfway down to the beach.
At night, as well as the main restaurant, there are 4 a la carte restaurants. Italian, Chinese, Turkish and fish which u have to book at 10am of the morning u wish to dine. Although we were told we could only book 1 of them during our stay, we chanced our arm and booked 3 on different days and they didn't say anything. The food was fantastic!

The 24 hour all inclusive works well. The nightclub shuts at 2am but the lobby bar stays open.

Kids can help themselves to ice creams and lollies all day and well into the evening.

The main pool, which is huge but very noisy, is fine but we spent most days by the relax pool as it was next to our villa and there was a nice little bar there.
Same old issue with sunbeds. To get a sunbed around the main pool u have to be up with the fairies but u could leave it a bit later at the relax pool.

Beach is nothing to write home about. Coarse sand and shingle but it was nice jumping off the jetty. U could, however, usually get a sunbed on the beach.

Entertainment in the eve ( in the amphitheatre) was pretty poor but that's not really our thing although there would be a live band playing in the pool bar most nights which was ok.

All in all this is a very good, very well maintained and run hotel. The staff were a credit to the hotel and we had a great time and it was nice to have some real quality time with our daughter( although she might not agree) !

As an aside, there was some sort of rebranding happening while we were there so the hotel might change its name to the Sunis Elita

We stayed in the hotel as part of a huge training camp with 90 participants, plus instructors and people arranging the stay. The whole group had all inclusive.

The hotel is nice, clean and efficient. Food in the main restaurant is nice and plentiful, but somewhat repetitive. The place is very big. We had our room in Villa Daphne, close to the relax pool, which was very nice. I'd recommend a villa room over a room in the main hotel building.

We were there the week they switched from low season to high season (May 1st) with a big difference in level of service and offerings (e.g. lunch in the beach restaurant). As we were part of a large group, we didn't have much to do with the hotel.

The all inclusive package offers one night in one of the other restaurants, which was nice, but with strict rules on when to book and pre-ordering the menu. Not what I'd wish for in an a la carte restaurant.

Please also be aware that they only offer local Turkish wine (and stronger stuff too) which is awful.

The SPA was very nice and fun with the Turkish Hamam, but be aware that they will explore you for ailments and places you hurt to sell you more treatments. You really have to bargain hard for good prices in the SPA.

Room Tip: Villa rooms close to the relax pool.

We got a really good deal on this hotel through low cost holidays so booked a late trip. Since our deal worked out at £36 each per day all inclusive we weren't expecting too much but we were pleasantly surprised. We booked a 5day child free long weekend to get some very much needed sun and vitamin D, we didn't want to go on day trips or eat in different restaurants every night. Main buffet restaurant was excellent with lots of healthy choices, lots of puddings, freshly cooked meat etc. could possibly have a bit more variety.

Hotel, rooms and grounds are all very clean and there are constantly people maintaining the gardens and cleaning the public areas.
Plenty of sun lounges and space although there was an influx of Dutch on day 2 when it got very busy - unsure how they would cope in high season.

Staff are excellent and the girls from the kids club are always out playing with the kids and trying to get them to join in games.

Not much in regards to evening entertainment but we were off season and the shows etc hadn't started yet.

Rooms were of a good size with nice balcony and got cleaned every day with new drinks put in fridge if your all inclusive (only go here if you are as food and drink is ridiculously expensive if not) Down side - walls are quite thin and we had a screaming baby next day, found it useful to shut the bathroom door as a lot of the noise was coming through the air vent. Plus even though the weather hit 33 degrees on our last day they only had the rom air conditioning on for one hour between 11pm and 12 am.

Over All excellent holiday, great food, friendly staff, clean hotel and a great price, will defiantly be back as we think our kids would love it but maybe not in July/August when it would be at its busiest and hottest

We stayed at this hotel for 11 nights over Easter for my birthday. The hotel was very clean with a maid service every day. The food in the main restaurant and the pool bar was varied and very nice, we had one meal in the Italian al a Carte restaurant which was made very special as the Chef brought out a cake for my birthday, the meal was lovely too. The pools were clean and the kids loved the waterslides as did we! I had a few spa treatments which were well worth it and very relaxing.
The entertainment staff were very friendly and worked very hard doing a fantastic job day and night, especially Fathi, Gokhan, Leo, Valeria, apologies to any one we have missed as they were all brilliant and kept our holiday entertaining especially the dancing! The bar staff were all friendly and one of them called Hakan taught us some Turkish phrases to help us. We were the only English people in the hotel but this did not bother us as we found everyone to be friendly. The management were very helpful too. We had never been to Turkey but we will definately be returning soon after such a lovely experience.
