“Positive experience”
Reviewed August 3, 2011

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks from 13 th to 27th of July. The weather was extremely hot, but despite of this, we enjoyed our stay. We agree with all the positive reviews that has been written in June and July, and we will certainly recommend the hotel to our friends.

We found the service in the restaurants and bars very good, and the young waiters - who were working long days (12 - 15 hours) - had a smile and a polite word to all the guests. The problem was that their English knowledge was limited. We recommend all new guests to be prepared to give them some Euros, their wage is very, very low!

We experienced that the white wine and the rosé wine were acceptable, the red wine was not of the same quality.

Having signalled a very positive attitude to our stay, we would point on some minuses which should have the full attention of the management:

1. Minibank.
As others have pointed out before, the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. If you need cash for paying taxis, excursions, etc. there is no possibilities to get the cash if you do not take a taxi to find a minibank. The hotel should definitively have a minibank service!

2. SPA
To many customers the SPA staff denied to accept payment by card and instead drove the customer to a minibank in order to take out cash to pay the SPA treatment. I denied to be treated in this way, and it turned out that the barbershop (a part of the SPA department) had card machine availible and was working. Strange!!!

3. Walking paths
We are used to have some kilometres of morning or evening walk . It was not possible to have a walk along the road, the beach was not favorable to walk along, so we had to make 2-3 tiresome rounds on the internal path.

3. Entertainment
Our first week, Nick was the entertainment manager. He was very experienced and took the lead when it was necessary. His substitute, Harry had not the same experience and as his dialect was difficult for non-English to understand, we felt that the standard of the evening entertainment the second week was below expectation (except for the belly dancers and the Turkish dancing group).

This was our first visit to Turkey, and it was our first stay at an all-inclusive hotel. We can surely recommend this way of vacation to others!

You can argue that they don't speak perfectly English. You can also argue that not all waiters know that women are served first and that plates should not be removed before all people at the table have finished their meals. BUT they make so much up for it in hospitality, awareness and service. Examples: We arrived around midnight very hungry. They kept the restaurant open for us. I needed a tooth pick.. The waiter almost ran to get me one... At midnight..
It was hot - Very hot.. They came around the pool to serve us fruit, veggies and drinks.
the hotel manager came up in the bus to say goodbye when we left.
Dedicated and friendly staff!
If I put on my most negative glasses on I can only come up with this: The bed could have been slightly softer. And I would have hoped for a beach with less rocks.
To the negative reviews: Your own approach reflects the treatment you receive. I saw some rather rude British couples complaining and to be honest, I would personally never have accepted this kind of manner had I been the hotel staff. SHAME ON YOU!!! You expect the moon and complain about not getting your English breakfast. Seriously, isn't part of the reason to travel to experience new cultures and food? Def recommend Turkey and Flora Garden Beach Club.

Room Tip: Deluxe room with beach view - Lovely

Please be aware that this hotel is nowhere near 5 star standard.

Pros:- Peaceful, lovely sunset, turtles hatching, food nice, entertainment ok.

Cons:- had a deluxe sea view room, clean, spacious, but had the same bedding on for our full stay (1 week) did request fresh bedding (twice)but it never came. The fridge is next to useless, did report it as not working but didn't see an improvement.
Magnolia restaurant: The service was very poor, especially at breakfast we decided after waiting 15 minutes, to find our own drinks. (this was a regular occurrence even though the restaurant was quiet) we seemed to be invisible. The food was ok, we found a nice meal each evening. The glasses and cutlery were not very clean on a couple of occassions, just changed them.
The fish restaurant: Service very good but, the chef spoilt things for us when we saw him picking his nose a couple of times in between cooking (yuk!)
This is not somewhere we will return to as we felt we were more of a nuiscance than a guest at times. It's a real shame because we love Turkey and the hotel does have (some) really great staff and the ability to be much better. I was so ready for home at the end of my week, we are usually teary, not this time. So glad we didn't book 2 weeks as we normally do.

Room Tip: Sea View Duluxe

Spent 1 week at Flora Garden and we really enjoyed it.. The delux room with sea view was excellent comfortable - well worth the upgrade, the beach is lovely literally on the doorstep of out room. Hotel facilities are varied and cater for all, with small wine bar a pool bar even a small friendly disco. Food was good standard with plenty of options.Staff are attentive and helpful. Its a great place for a chilled out beach holiday for couples or friends... but not suitable if you are looking for much of a nightlife or a wild party holiday! Defo recommend and i would definately return to flora garden.

Just returned from Flora Garden after two weeks. We have thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, room wonderful (deluxe pool sea view) definitely worth the upgrade. Fantastic swimming pools, excellent food, staff helpful, not many spoke English but then I couldn't speak their language! Quite isolated but plenty of walkways within the hotel grounds for an evening stroll. Beaches were gritty sand and shingle but purchase a pair of beach shoes and this is not a problem. Beach is a blue flag and the water was crystal clear, lots of fish. Lucky enough to see a Loggerhead turtle lay her eggs and return to the water, wonderful sight. Take a torch if you want to see turtles at night.
We met a great lot of people and spent many hours enjoying good company. Only made one trip out to the Mangavat falls and river cruise. We enjoyed this but did not intend to spend our time sight seeing. This was a chill and relax holiday and that is exactly what we got. The temperatures were extremely hot and when we return to Flora Garden in the future we will go when temps not so high. First couples holiday we have experienced and it won't be the last.

Just got back from a 7 day stay at the Flora Garden Hotel. Really enjoyed our stay although we have to agree with a lot of the other comments that it is a little remote. However, there is a daily bus to a shopping centre - we did not use this so cannot comment on what it was like. Twice weekly there is a huge market in Manavagat which is a 20-25 minute dolmus ride away. The dolmus takes you in to the bus station and you then pick up the bus which takes you in to the market. Alanya is about an hour away by dolmus. Side is a couple of dolmus rides away via Manavagat.

We went on a boat trip around Alanya which was OK but had we known what it was like we would not have gone having been used to the smaller gulet type yachts at other Turkish resorts such as Bodrum. The boats in Alanya tend to be large and very commercially orientated - geared more towards families rather than couples!

Our deluxe room was very nice overlooking the sea. However, the air conditioning was not cold enough! With temperatures up to 40 degrees during the day and not much less in the evening the hotel need to look at this!

The food in the buffet style restaurant was absolutely fantastic with a range of choices for all the many nationalities who stay at the hotel. Thomson offer you two options for the a la carte fish & steak restaurants but to be honest we felt that the buffet was far superior.

We would definitely recommend this hotel for a relaxing break!

Room Tip: We heard quite a few people saying their rooms were not good. Try to book a deluxe room if you can...

We stayed for a two week summer holiday. The combination of warm weather, good food, relaxing surroundings and opportunities for activities is unbeatable!

We had a Deluxe room with a fantastic ocean view, we highly recommend! Our room was very clean and spacious. The staff was very professional and friendly. Quiet and comfortable surroundings. :) We recommend the hotel for all couples in every ages!
