Reviewed August 19, 2012

We went there for one week holiday and stayed at the bungalow. 5 star hotel?! Not so much, at least not at the bungalows and dining areas good to better as well. The room was spacious and kept clean, therefore overall it was nice. Unfortunately bed was so hard that we put extra blankets on it to make it softer. Unfortunately the outside noise was so well heard inside and it woke me every morning. We had cleaning staffs' room nearby and they started every day at 7 AM very loudly. The food was good, lots of variety. At dinner time was difficult to find clean table with cutleries after 8 PM. Also it was a struggle to find any waiter to get drinks. Some of the waiters looked so tired and were not friendly at all. The pool areas were very over crowded, after 11AM it was impossible to find free places. Luckily the beach was nearby and there was always free space. The staff spoke fluently russian and they assumed everybody to be russian as well. Only at the reception we could find english speaking staff. This was a major problem for us. On the good side I would put the territory of the hotel. It is looked after very nicely and as the territory is really big we walked around a lot. Very nice atmosphere! Also beautiful waterfalls and fountains can be found. Every night there were events and they were proffessional shows. We enjoyed the holiday and some nice memories. However next time when I'm going to spend that kind of money I will consider more european destination where I probably will get 5 star service as expected.

Stayed at Starlight Convention Centre Thalasso & Spa for our annual holiday in June with my significant other. The place is pretty amazing. It is a huge hotel but it never feels overcrowded there are many places you can go to for some peace and quiet. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with all the mood cons you need for your holiday. There are however a few draw backs to this amazing place namely the staff. We found them not very helpful at all. Despite us putting the do not disturb sign on the door the domestic staff was very noisy and disrespectful of guests needs. The staff in the main restaurant were also very bad. you had to wait ages to find a table to sit at hey totally ignored you. I am not sure whether it's the fact that they was communication breakdown as very little English was spoken in the resort??? On the plus side the food was really nice and a varied choice was on offer. There are plenty other restaurants on the resort to try even though we didn't eat in any of those. There is so much for the kids to do including games room and even a balling alley and a disco. Several boutiques and others shops are on site as well. There are up to 5 swimming pools so sun lounges are plenty and enough for everybody. The beach is pretty good as well. You will have to put up with families of sometimes noisy kids. Otherwise this is a wonderful place to enjoy a break and facilities are just on the grand scale. I highly recommend the place despite a few set backs.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the families as it can be very noisy

We liked everything: lots of pools, one with 6 slides, 2 pools with bars inside of it, ancient-like amphitheater. Cleaning room was great, very good service. Some food was so-so, but some was very tasty - the big choice. Russians were about 25%, Britans about 20%, Italians 17%, Germans 15% and some other. There was free cinema, night club. I was in Turkey previously, but this hotel was really great.

In April I made a work trip at this hotel. The resort World of Sunrise has two hotels: Starlight Convention Center and Sunrise Park Resort. I stayed in the main building Starlight Convention Center, 5th floor (top floor of the building), and we had partial view sea. Only those ho are staying in the main building (rooms are more expensive) can eat in "a la carte" restaurants for free.
Advantages:
- Enormous room;
- Huge dressing room with safe;
- Facilities to make coffee, tea
- Fridge with everything you need (juice, water, mineral water, beer)
- Air conditioning
- WiFi, to connect I used as user name the room number and as the password passport number.
- Very clean rooms and bathroom
- Very good and diversified food. Turkish coffee is the best.

Disadvantages: only one. The beach is sandy, but close to water are stones. Proper shoes it's
useful. The water is deep close to shore.
We made trips to Aspendos, Perge, Antalya Museum.

Room Tip: Higher floors for beter view, sea side view, in main building

We took a large group of line dancers,approx 106 people to this hotel in late April for 2-weeks. Before going we had a look on trip-adviser and after reading a couple of reviews we got quite worried with all remarks about rude staff and horrible Russians. We arrived a few days ahead of our group in order to arrange our dance area and iron out any problems we may encounter. During these few days we frequented the disco and various bars which was mostly occupied by these awful Russians we had read about only to find that all we had read was a complete load of rubbish. Both the Russians and staff were friendly and charming, all the Russians want to do is drink and dance and always try to get you to join in with them. ALL the staff behaved respectful and pampered to our every whim. I do not normally write on these sites but felt I needed to give my opinion on my holiday and found the hotel to be amazing ,the staff so warm and friendly (as Turkish people always are) and Russians to be really nice people if you just communicate with them. Our group have expressed a wish to return to this hotel again and we agree that we should try to do so.

I went with a large group of people to the starlight from late april to 13thmay. I have read the review from littlemiss clark and think she must have gone to a different hotel to me. Yes there does not usually seem to be many english there but as we were a large group we didnt feel this quite the same as they obviously did. We stayed in the bungalows which were quite good after all you only use them to shower, change and sleep most of the time. The gardens in which they were set were lovely and whilst we were there they began replanting with summer flowers, I felt the gardens were well tended especially considering they was so much to maintain and there were some lovely fragrant trees.
The bungalows are set in between the sister hotels of the starlight and the sunrise which is a lower star rating and although may not look as outstandiing as the starlight we found that the food and ammenities over there were very good. The bungalows were cleaned every day and the bedding and towels changed every day. There was also handwash, showergel and shampoo available in the bathroom and the rooms were nicely furnished.
If you want an active holiday with loads of nightlife then this would not be the place for you as there was not a great deal to do in the evenings possibly Marmaris would be a better choice of destination as generally the hotels in the Belek/Side area are quieter. We created our own entertainment as we had linedance evenings on the balcony of one of the bars every other evening but we did find that on the nights we had nothing planned we did find there was not much to do except go to the see the singers in the cave section where there was also a disco after 11pm.or play cards and sit and chat.
The ice ring is no longer there as it has been taken away so this does need to altered in the brochure as we had not been informed of this. The pools in both hotels were excellent and very clean so too were the toilets by the pools. The beds around the pool were very comfortable and in good condition plus there were plenty for everyone also quite a few umbrellas. If you were to go in July and august when it is very hot there were also plenty of areas that you could go to cool off or sit in the shade. The hotel had created an underground area we called the cave, this was lovely and the shops were situated n this area as well as the mediteranean restaurant, the disco and other entertainment.
The food was also good and there is something for everyone. I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly and the service they provided was good although you may not have instant service if you go at very busy periods as it could get quite full but the staff worked hard and did their best and were very apologetic if you had to wait for service. There was a large choice at all meal times, breakfast did include salad, chips, cheeses, cold meats etc but we should remember that they need to cater for all cultures and all needs, I felt they did an excellent job. There was always boiled eggs either 3minute or 5minute, scrambled eggs, sausage, tomatoes with cheese. omelettes, pancakes, crepes plus a selection of bread, cakes and sweet breads as well as yogurt, fruit, jams plus the toasting machine oh and if you didnt like runny eggs you just asked the chef to flip these over for you and he always seemed happy to do this. lunchtime I usually went to either the waterfall restaurant or went to the sunrise snack bar for a kebab. The food was really good and only once did I find the chicken was undercooked but this was a one off generally the food was well cooked. In the evening there was usually a stirfry cooked fresh outside most evenings also fresh fish including salmon, trout and sea bass, but inside there was a good selection of food again catering for all guests tastes and diets. The food was always displayed lovely and whilst there may not have been a great selection of sweets and most were too syrupy for me I did notice that most of our crowd had several on their plates each mealtime.
The hotel also had free wifi which could be accessed from the lobby and around the poolside. I could also get this on occasions when sat on the balcony outside my room but not inside still you cant have everything and it was not hardship to sit on the balcony. If I was to have one moan it was that when we arrived we were informed that only VIP's were allowed to use the infinity pool and only guests in the hotel itself were classed as VIP so some other facilities were also out of bounds for us such as the al acarte restaurants other than the mediteranean and the turkish which you could book once only again you could only go to these if you were VIP. This I did feel was not stressed in the brochure as the infinity pool sounded as all starlight guests could access this and only the sunrise guests were not allowed and it did not say you were not allowed to use the restaurants.
This did not spoil our holiday as they other pools were really good and the jetty by the sunrise was wonderful for sunbathing and going into the sea as the beaches were stoney and went deep very quickly. I personally would go there again but would possible stay in the sunrise as this would be cheaper and you can go to all the places we were allowed in the starlight except the lobby bar in the starlight hotel. The sunrise was more family orientated with a very good water park with slides ect. although this was only open from 10-12 and 2-4 but the slides were good and fun.
All in all I had a fabulous holiday and I know people often have negative comments about Russian and German holiday makers but generally we found them to be fine if you spoke to them they spoke to you. You will always find some that dont but we British can also be the same as we have found on previous holidays.
I know that many in our group would be very happy to return there next year even though it is quite a way to side on the bus. There are some shops nearby but other than that there is not a lot to do outside of the hotel but then we were happy to stay in the complex most of the time as they catered for most needs the fridge in the room was well stocked with soft drinks which was replenished daily and it was 24 hour all inclusive what more could you ask for? Definately a good holiday and not as negative as some of the comments I have read.

Read the reviews and went with an open mind October 2011. First impressions were WOW. Right on beach, amazing lobby and beautiful room with wine and fruit on arrival. Unfortunately that was it. There were 200 or so Russian women at a cosmetics conference, if you were one of them you were treated like royalty, the rest of us didn't much seem to matter. The food was cold and repetitive, dinner was usually left over lunch. The Russians piled their plates with fruit and deserts, before even getting their main course, so there was never much left for anyone else. Had to help yourself if you wanted wine with your meal. We tried really hard to be friendly and curtious but to no avail. Beautiful hotel and surrounds but no customer service definately only a 3* at the most.

Room Tip: Try to make sure you're in the main hotel at least then you can use the infinity pool.
