“Lovely holiday at garden resort.”
Reviewed August 12, 2013 via mobile

Two families of 7 people, we have just spent 2 weeks at this lovely hotel.

On our arrival, we unfortunately didn't get our requests of 2 rooms together, and couldn't have been further away from each other, but this didn't turn out to be a major issue. The room was clean, functional, with excellent air con and a drain odour in the bathroom was dealt with quickly. We were slightly disappointed with the small bed in the room for our daughter, but she soon got used to it, and as very little time is spent in the room, on reflection, again is not an issue.

The pool area can be quite noisy during pool games, but the entertainment team never pressure you into taking part, and we spent hours relaxing under the shade of the orange trees which was far cooler in the 45c + heat every day than being under a parasol.

One of the nicest aspects of the hotel is that there is plenty of outdoor seating for the restaurant. This makes a pleasant atmosphere without the canteen feel you find in some AI hotels, and more evenings than not, there would be some outdoor cooking such as pasta, kebabs and fish being served. The food was very enjoyable and we could always find something tasty each meal, mostly the wonderful selection of salad. Whereas pervious reviews say that the food is aimed towards the Russians, I think it was more turkish cuisine!!

The service of the staff in this hotel was by far the best we have experienced from previous holidays. Yes, I think there is a strong managerial influence across the food and bar services, but no one seemed unhappy and we were always greeted with a smile and friendly chat. As always, the staff were grateful to be treated with the respect of a please and Thankyou which didn't seem to happen too often with some nationalities!

In the surrounding area, it is a 30 min walk thru the shopping area to get to moonlight beach. This isn't the hotel beach, but a fine sandy, stunning cove which was the highlight of our holiday. The water is crystal clear and we used the sunbeds owned by dakapo beach bar. As long as you buy any drinks or food from the bar, which is superb waiter service, then you/ they are happy and you will be well looked after. They also run a free shuttle 24 hours and we were collected and returned to our hotel to save the walk in the heat.

We chose to book a boat trip through one of the excursion companies in the town which was excellent value at £10 per person including transfers from the hotel,a substantial lunch and hours out at sea with several stop off points for swimming in stunning clear water. Yes, you do buy your drinks, but these were no more expensive than anywhere else.

My tip would be to take lira with you rather than euros. Even if the item is priced in euro, just ask for the lira price, and with the poor euro exchange rate for us at the moment, it often worked at financially better with lira.

All in all, a fantastic, memorable holiday and would recommend this area and hotel to anyone. It was certainly good value for money, and will hopefully one day return.

The overall vacation was excellent. The Garden Resort is placed somewhere at the beginning of the town of Kemer and the best thing about this hotel is that it is placed close to the main road but the impression of the hotel complex is that you are somewhere in the mountain resort far away from busy streets. Service is very good, all of the personnel are very friendly and are there to help you and make your stay enjoyable. Although some of the staff does not speak perfect English you will always find the way to communicate your needs.
Food is excellent and there are different menus every-day for about whole week. If you have compliments or any suggestions Master Chef is easily reachable for he is always supervising the restaurant being available to you.
Pool and the beach are very clean and you are always available to find some shade if you wish to keep away from all UV rays.
Entertainment team is there for people of all age. From gym, water exercises, water polo to different fun pool games.
All in all, it was very enjoyable trip. If you pay all-inclusive you will feel no need to leave hotel premises because you will have your day filled with different activities and the staff will never leave you bored or hungry.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the entrance of the hotel are on a shady side meaning it will be easier to cool them do...

Just got back from turkey this week, hotel lovely, yes there are more impressive ones on the outside in kemer, but i looked into the cost of these before we went, and were nearly half again what we paid. Garden resort probably gave you bit more of a personal service, all the staff got to know you, as this may not be the case in the larger hotels, as they did seem very big.
Food lovely always plenty, ample salads and plenty of choice, yes a lot of chicken and turkey, but always tasty and nice. Our room was specious and clean and very quiet, staff work very hard and were very friendly, no problem with russians, didnt experiance any of them pushing in. Went with my two teenage boys, who become good friends with some russian lads and ladies, all went out together to local clubs had a great time, they are still listening to dj smash at home!
met some lovely families from other countries some did not speak any english, but we all managed to have a great time! Would recommend hotel as was everything you would expect from holiday hotel.
Tips= if there is no sun beds available, just ask pool man and he will get you some, always plenty available in the afternoon. Try the alcarte restaurant while you are there as part of the all inclusive, just pay for alcoholic drinks if required.
If there was anything negative to say, would be, basic ice creams would be nice a couple of hours a day. Entertainment was good but on some nights was separate to bar area, resulting in less people attending, making it hard for the animation team to get people involved.
All in all, hotel tries hard to please, and i can say it was very much appreciated by us all.

Well the hotel is clean and tidy, on arrival the bell boy took all our cases to our room, it was difficult getting information from reception as they hardly understood any english, but seemed to understand the Russian guests with no problems, the maids came in every day and cleaned, a basic quick clean, but the beds were allways made and looked lovely.
Our room was on the second floor and a lovely view of the mountains which was peacefull and lovely, the other side of the corridor over looked the pool and night time drinking area and would be a lot of noise so we were glad we were on the side we were.
Food was ok, but the same things every day for two weeks got a bit much, ended up going out a lot as we got fed up with the lack of choice at the hotel, breakfast time they did pancakes and omlettes but the extractor was never on and the smoke filled the room and you ended up stinking of the fat so best to wear old clothes if going down for breakfast and then change!
Drinks were ok, tended to serve half measures so tended to have to get double drinks in one go, the beer was lovely, I enjoyed this a lot, pot luck with cocktails, they were different everytime, sometimes lovely next horrible, but stick to beer or cola and you will be allright.
The little supermarket on -1 floor was good, friendly man who helped us, prices about the same as anywhere else, good sellection of bits you might need, and if you miss the bar last orders at 12pm you can grab a can or beer from him and drink it outside, so lovely, although opening hours varied a lot.
Air-conditioning in reception was hardly ever on so it was very hot in there, at night it was off alltogether so really sweaty hot then, which was a shame as you could not relax in there and they had cosy seating but it was hot, Air-con in our room worked fine once I cleaned the severly clogged air filters out, then it had air flow and worked!
The entertainment was aimed at the Russians who seem to take over the place, they were rude and have no ideas when it comes to cueing, they push in and seem to get served first even if you have been standing at the bar waiting for ages, The so called animation team were terrible, the comedy was a joke, we tried to put up with it but everythinng was aimed at the russian guests and not towards the British guests, The live singer on the wednesday night was terrible and could not sing to save her life, we ended up going for a walk to the Mariner most nights, enjoying other places. It is our opinion that that hotel is geared to the Russian guests, staff seem to speak to them no problems, getting through to them in English is a battle.
Sun beds were impossible to find, it seemed that by breakfast all beds were taken, and no extras around, Grass was full as well, and this made using the pools very difficult, the pools were clean apart from the plastic grilles they were breaking and snapping when people stood on them leaving dangerous gaps all around, they were very clean and nice to swim in, but it was very busy and it was difficult to enjoy yourself, we got the shuttle bus which took us to the private beach, this was nice, plenty of sun beds, nice bar area, nice gardens and generally great fun, a stoney beach with a cordoned off sea area to swim in, very nice place, the shuttle bus gets packed and has no air conditioning so is very very hot.
The games room was small and only had a couple of porr condition games in it, they charges a lot of money to have just 30mins on the xbox, and really it was a poor excuse of a games arcade!
Wifi in reception was so slow, and connection dropped a lot and it was a mission to reconnect, and then log back in, I had to use it around midnight to get any decent service at all, so beware if you are a person who wants to use the wifi a lot as it is very frustrating.
Candy floss was for sale at the pool side and it was expensive.
The adult only relax pool was really nice, we thought let our son go to kids club so we can go there, great they said come back at 12 to pick him up, well we got back around 11.45 to find they had locked up and gone to lunch and our son aged 7 was standing alone outside, how dare they just go to lunch and leave a young child on their own, so we never bothered again, and our son was scared to go in case the same thing happened again.
All in all the hotel was ok, but not excellent, the 4x rating I think was wrong, it should be lower, I would not go back again, but if you go you will Im sure have a good time, watch out for the camel people on the main street, before you know it they will have your child on the back of the camel and they will be off incouraging you to take photos, we got back they demanded 135Learer for the ride, we argued with them and they got 10TL instead, they charge per photo and remember the photos are being taken with your own camera!

They need to sort a few things out, treat the English like they do the Russians, and maybe it could become a really nice place.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor room 206, nice and quiet with a lovely view of the mountains

Dear Mr Richard,

It is always our aim to improve our services and we really wish to meet the perceptions of all our estimated customers from about 16 different countries.
To understand better the expectations of our guests we use questionnaires and we read every customer review carefully. The hotel reception and the guest relation manager are advised to treat every customer request with absolute care.
Certainly your review has important hints, for which we would like to express our thanks to you. We will try to make amendments wherever possible.
We are very sorry that we could not satisfy your expectations of our hotel in all points, but we would also like to mention that those are also always based upon personal experience, needs and imagination. There are many different points of view, a fact which is reflected in the comments about the same event as Life Music for instance.
Definitely we would have preferred to make your holiday more satisfying for you and your family.

We have just returned from a 10 day stay and reflecting on our stay. Food and drink - everything you expect from a 4* clean, ample choice, plentiful and waiters not pushing for tips. Restaurant and snack bar not busy and we always found a table outside. No pushing and shoving and relaxing. There are bookable theme nights above the restaurant - a simple Italian theme evening which is free and available to book once a week - book early - and a Steak night which is charged at approx £10 per person (they take euros, pounds or lira). Personally, we wished we hadn't bothered with the steak night as the staff were a little offish and concentrating on a larger table. Bars clean and tidy, and the staff will always support you, with a grin on their faces, if you politely remind male guests from russian countries how to queue. Two cocktails, usual spirits, soft drinks and teas/coffees.
Indoor pool for fitness swimmers and spa offering guests usual charged treatments. Photographer and hairdresser - no one pushed these services.
Hotel had two good theme evenings - one Turkish night with dancers and drummers and one band playing your usual English pub night music and music for the other nationalities. Sociable terrace.
Mini club was popular and seemed to have two main sessions a day plus the mini disco. Two female and one male who appeared to be liked by the children.
Fruit juice stall, sweetcorn vender and popcorn machine charged.
Beach towels provided without deposit and changed daily by the pool. The smiling towel man also walked around with cold flannels.
Safe in the room costs approx £1 per day.
Two supermarkets, with well priced goods including turkish delight etc, and frequented by locals approx 10 min walk away along an easy route by orange/pomegrante orchards. You can see the local mosque here and the weekly fruit and veg market. You can turn left here and then walk back to the hotel and find shops selling the genuine fakes. Basically, this is a walk around the block. There are more shops further on into the town which are easily reached and some quests walked to the marina and another weekly market selling more genuine fakes - they came back with all the usual handbags and sports kit. A taxi costs approx £5 anywhere in and around the town one way. Bus stops, taxis, dolmus and chemist all nearby. Doctor and Thomas Cook rep on site daily if needed.
The beach is approx 5 min ride away on the half hourly shuttle bus. We didn't spend much time here but there is a refreshment bar and basic facilities. It is clean and tidy - usual Turkey beach.
Pool areas - one averagly sized pool, one baby pool with a canopy to protect the toddlers, one pool with two slides and one adult relax pool area through the orange trees (this is peaceful and the place to recharge your batteries. Clean, tidy, safe because parents can sit by their selected pools to watch the children - no lifeguard. The staff gladly fetched more sunbeds/umbrellas out of storage and carried them for guests upon request. If you want the pick of the sunbeds you need to be playing the towel game between 7 and 8am - by 9am the sunbeds are taken.
Reception helpful and the Guest relations lady came to see us twice and asked if we were having a good time.
Hotel staff are smiling and helpful but keep one step back - management obviously rule with an iron rod - they do not make you feel uncomfortable and are politely reserved unless you ask them for some help to carry drinks.
We tipped the bell boy approx £1 in lira upon arrival and £1 in lira when leaving for carrying the bags and the room maid £1.70 in lira a day (the room up keep was of an average standard).
There are two hotel cats floating around but these only approach if you encourage them. You wouldn't see them unless you entice them.
Temperatures 37 - 40 degrees.
Guest list included Swedish, Swiss, Dutch, French, Russians, German and English people. We made holiday friends with some English and Dutch families. The only time I felt the need to huff and puff was at bar when a muscular Russian gentleman sporting speedos thought that a shoulder in my face would give him the right to jump the drinks queue - unfortunately, I was queuing patiently for a much needed gin and tonic and my stiff upper lip and English rose persona temporarily failed me and he fled to the back of the line clutching his plastic cup - last seen covering up his speedos, muttering and hiding behind his wife.
Animation team - poor. It all seemed like too much effort for them. There was a greek chap who circulated and laughed and joked with the teenagers. The animation team walked around calling out about the activity but didn't actually promote the activities. Very often they walked around calling out the name of the activity and not stopping to smile at people or make eye contact so the activity would not go ahead - if it did happen, you felt as you were putting them out. The exception to this was the water polo which the chap visibly enjoyed putting on. When the pool game went ahead the DJ would come out of his box and the team joined in with him.
My teenager did go to the late night disco with friends but they were the only ones there - again, it just wasn't promoted by the animation team so guests probably don't even know about it.
The animation team did put on a fun evening pool party - the DJ came out of his box and this involved disco, pool games and a beauty contest - not sure why there was only a Miss Bikini and not a Mr Swimwear but the team did come round and encourage people to join in. My personal thoughts are that if the DJ (the boss) or the animation team were visible to the management they were full on.
Wireless was frustrating. Sometimes you could get on immediately and other times it took at least an hour of repeated attempts. It was just one of those things that became a talking point.
So in a nutshell:
Hotel - 9 out of 10.
Clean and tidy - 9 out of 10.
Staff - 9 out of 10.
Animation team - needs looking at by management.
Room - 9 out of 10 (ask for a room overlooking mountains and quiet).
Food - 9 out of 10.
Towel man - 10 out of 10 for always smiling.
Would we return? - Yes.

Room Tip: Ask for a room looking out on to the mountains (quiet and scenic). Book upon arrival for food theme...

Hotel location is OK - 15minutes to the center on the main street or 20 by the sea. Place is quiet and nice. Reception (traveling in middle of July) - looks bored from tourists, people are waiting for additional money for any kind of service (like changing room in a basement to a normal one) and are showing it quite open. this is not normal ant looks really bad for a 4* hotel. Rooms in the 0 floor are not worth the price from any point of view. Its better to stay in a tent than in such room. But rooms above are very good, air con are working, rooms clean and nice. Pool area is also quite good, not very big but OK, we were happy, children were happy, BUT - at 8 o'clock in the morning you wont be able to get a free sunbed, sometimes we just stayed on the grass (that is also not bad :) ), but this is also not 4* hotel... Entertainment - I'd say terrible. I was usually leaving to the seaside, so I did not need any animation, but these, that I have seen were so bored - people do not want to participate and that looks sad :), workers should think about their work, how to organize it in a more fun way, etc. Pools are nice, no chemical sense, quite crowdy, but still nice. Personally me - did not like the food. No sea food (except several fish dishes time to time), at the same evening i did not want to try same dish twice in 10 days and that is very rare experience. Drinks are OK. Still there were friends of mine that liked the food, so lets think that its a matter of taste :). Beach - if you compare it to any of center beaches - is perfect. small stones, no need of additional shoes, it was clean most of the days, enough sunbeds, poor snacks (but still enough for a beach) - in total - 8 of 10 for a beach. Bus is not a problem at all, it goes every half an hour.
Kemer in general - feels too bored of tourists, no quality in provided services, waits for aditional money (example, you take hamam for 15 bucks and during final massage people asks for additional 50bucks if you want to use honey and some special dirt or mask. If you say "no" - massage lasts 15minutes instead of an hour and they do not care).
Overall experience of Kemer is not bad, Holliday was nice, but hotel price is too high comparing to the service quality and it would never have 4* in Europe. 3* mostly.

Room Tip: Never take rooms 4** - they are on the ground floor and is terrible.

We stayed here at the end of June/beginning of July with our 3 daughters (8 & 6 yrs). After a gruelling night flight from Gatwick we were greeted at about 4:30 am by a very helpful bell boy who took our 5 large suitcases and wouldn't accept any help! Rooms were very clean and only problem was that our family room had bunk beds in one room and double and single in the other. The hotel and rooms were continuously cleaned, the pools and slides were excellent for the kids. The kids club and mini disco made the kids holiday, they loved it and Ahmet, Yasemin & Nazi did an outstanding job of keeping them entertained, so much that the kids got really sad when they left. The wireless was completely useless, but in a way it stopped us spending all our time on our smartphones! Marina is great as was boat trip along the coast, Stephanie the Thomas Cook rep was really helpful and went beyond the call of duty for us! Food was ok, and what I typically expect for an all inclusive. Not a huge British presence, largely Russians, but if you want British people then go to Spain!
