Having visited Turkey on many occasions but never this area I can say that the standard of self catering accommodation in the Orange Garden is as good as anywhere I have previously been. Despite it being late in the season where establishments are clearly winding down my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The apartments are clean and spacious with basic but good facilities in a great/quiet location in Kemer. (2 mins walk to the centre of town)
We were in Room 306 and could not fault it, excellently positioned with a large balcony and a great outlook.
I cannot comment upon the bar and restaurant facilities as due to the lateness in season these were closed (other than for breakfast) however this was not a problem as there are many good options within a short distance. Credit to Sinan, Aynur and staff, they run an excellent establishment.
Kemer itself is clearly used to catering for Russian and Scandinavian visitors and does not have the English style Sky Sports bars/pubs you find in abundance in places like Marmaris/Icmeler. In fact there is a distinct lack of bars (not even the obligatory Irish Bar!)
Live Premiership football is available if that’s what you want but don’t necessarily expect English commentary!
At first it took us a little while to get our bearings and discover the best of what the resort has to offer but after a couple of days we did so and were not disappointed.
The highlight is Moonlight Beach (15 mins walk from the Orange Garden) or a free shuttle arranged by Sinan where sunbeds are free and available around the Aksu Bar.
The resort is also a shopper’s delight if that takes your fancy with loads of outlets within 2 minutes of the apartments.
Our favourite restaurants were Monte Kemer, Leon, Merhaba Garden and Brothers where the food and service was first class (if not dissimilar) however there were no Indian/Chinese establishments that we could find.
The price for food is still reasonable (£10-£12 for a fillet steak) however like the rest of Turkey expect to pay 7.5-9TL for a beer or 10TL for wine or sprit, its not like it used to be!!
In short despite initial reservations I would happily return to Kemer if the price was right and would not hesitate to recommend the Orange Garden, great value for money and no complaints from us.
