The Best Hotel where I was up to this moment

We ( me and my wife) enjoyed everything: the Sea, the service, the food, the Animation team, Retro Disco, Ramadan.
Special thanks to Ismet, the Restaurant server, he did a real good job.

This is my first review on Tripadvisor, and it will be a long one.

I was looking for a holiday for myself, my wife and our almost 3 year old daughter, and I spent probably 4-5 weeks comparing offers with hotel ratings on tripadvisor. It was very frustrating at times as our budget (1300 EURO including flight, taxes) didnt seem to match any hotel of our liking until our travel agency (Perfect Tour, Bucharest) recommended the Akka Alinda hotel.

Due to reviews and the reccomendation from our travel agency we actually made the descision to book a 7 day holiday at this hotel, and boy, did we enjoy it!

Upon arriving at Antalya airport -after 1,5 hour flight- we were transported in a mini bus, which after one stop, delivered us at the main entrance of the Akka Alinda Hotel.we went to the reception desk and "checked in" , meaning that as we arrived at 10:00 our room would be available at 14:00. The reception guy was friendly, but seemed to be a bit over worked (which is understandable during the high season). We were directed to the main restaurant which still had a late breakfast going on until 11:00 (standard morning breakfast starts at 7:00 until 10:00)

The restaurant area is breathtaking and looks very classy with all the wood finishing, nice chairs and tables and we felt right at home. There was an enourmous amount of different food available: lots of salads, a great variety of breads, a coffee /tea/drink sections, all kinds of salami, ham, cheese, hard boiled eggs, scramble eggs, yogurts, cereals, fruits, etc etc. You name it; they got it.Also next to the fresh juice section there is an LCD display which shows you video feeds from the kitchen, which shows the hotel is confident about their health/hygene standards!

After our excellent breakfast we walked around the hotel complex. The hotel has an excellent, clean and beautiful swimming pool and the average water temperature was round 29-30 degrees, and it was never too busy.

We received 3 cards to get our 3 free towels (and you exchange the towels daily as much as you want), and it was obvious that by 11:00 all sun beds were taken at the swimming pool (aproximately only 10-15% were still reserved with towels!). We headed to the beach instead. We easily found 2 sunbeds and instead of sand, the beach was covered in fine little stones. Once you would walk to the water you'd be walking on some bigger pebbles until you get into the water where it's very fine stoned. The water temperature was excellent (29-30 degrees) and I actually preferred (being the first time for me) a pebbled beach over a sand beach. Mind you, we didnt use any special shoes to get into the water, as you'd easily could walk on the pebbles. It was lovely!

The beach itself was very clean and the hotel made sure that besides each umbrella they had a terracotta "bin" where you could dispose of your bottles (free unlimited drinks were available directly from the beach or from the beach bar in case one would prefer a beer). Officially one is not allowed to smoke on the beach, but many do anyhow, which did not create any discomfort. On the beach you can get some refreshments, but for food you will need to walk back 50 meters to get to the "beach bar"

After 14:00 we got to our room ,which was in the adjoined building. Our travel agency did not inform us about the more classy rooms in the main building (which are 20 euro per night more expensive) but we really can't fault the hotel as our room was spacious with a matrimonial bed, a tv set where all channels worked, but we never watched too much tv anyhow. The room had a little seating area (2 chairs + table) and they brought an extra, adult sized, bed for our daughter of 3 free of charge. The bathroom was super clean, and there was a fast variety of bathing oils/shampoos and clean towels. During our holiday they cleaned the room daily, al though our own mess (haha) remained mostly where it was. The minibar is free of charge and is stocked daily with a fanta, coca cola, a tuborg beer, two fruit juice packs and a liter of water. If you want to consumer more than that, you will need to pay extra - but we never even managed to empty half of the minibar on a daily basis as anywhere in the hotel you could get your drinks as well for free.

There is also a save in the room, for which you need a magnetic stick from the reception desk to activate it. Just type in a 6 digit code and it's locked. The save is big enough to even fit in your iPad (if you happen to own one). Needless to say, no extra charge for using the save.

The room is airconditioned (almost 24/7) as only during some hours at the end of the night they tended to switch it off (which for me was not a problem). Our room -as well as the whole hotel- had wifi as well, which was great. The speed wasnt really that fast, but for websurfing, checking Facebook or Twitter worked well. Once you select the "Akka" wireless network it will send you to a separate login page where you fill in your passport number as your login, and your room number as the password and you're ready to go. Unfortunately my phone would not automatically logon to the network prompting me instead to input my credentials again. What I did find a bit annoying was the fact that a wifi connection can be made on only ONE device. For instance my iPhone would have wifi, but I could not get my iPad on the same connection. After talking to someone from the hotel they comfirmed that its one connection per passport number. So, for my iPhone I used my details and for the iPad my wife's passport credentials. Internet speeds (midday) were at 7.5 Mbps up and 5.0 Mbps down, but were much slower during the evening. This was simply due to so many people using their smartphones and tablets and/or laptops. Perhaps the hotel can increase the overall speed during the high season.... Outside the hotel one tended to loose the wifi connection, and I suggested management to install an amplifier in order to extend the wifi range to the pool area (and I am assuming they appreciated my advice).

Well, what about Russians?

The hotel was probably booked to it's capacity (1000 people?) and around 75% were Russians. But let me tell you something: they absolutey did not cause any problems at all as you would read in other reviews about russian guests. All russians that I saw were behaving extremely nicely, e.g. not trying to get in front of a que, not taking 6-7 plates of food and then only eat 10% of it, and even if the vodka was flowing as water, they never got annoying. One of the reasons that in this hotel the russians were really nice, is that most of them were families with children. Therefore, if you worry about russians, don't worry about going to the Akka Alinda Hotel!

The hotel almost every night tried to organise a special themed dinner evening. The most remarkeble was the "Turkish Evening" with fresh shoarma meat, special turkish meatballs which were all cooked outside on the barbeque. But really, the food in this hotel was more than excellent. They had such a large variety of food, that sometimes you couldnt choose what to eat as there was so much. Yes, they don't serve pork, but they do serve a lot of chicken, fish and veal. The latter being prepared in various ways. I didnt mind that they didnt serve pork, as the meat they offered was more than excellent. All food was extremely well prepaired, and very nicely presented. I loved the salad bar. Also the bread area was excellent. One might say that the food was a bit repetetive, but I would disagree as there was so much on offer, that you could not even sample all of it in a week's time. Also my sincere compliments for the chefs in the kitchen, as the food was consistently excellent and never cold or luke warm and extremely nicely seasoned. The fact that they seasoned the food, made me conclude that this hotel really cares about its guests. I also saw a misterious man walking around the dining area constantly ... I figured out quickly, that he used this temperature-stick (or whatever you call that thing) to constantly meassure the temperature of the food to see if it was up to standards. I really want to compliment the hotel imposing such a high standard, as you don't see that very often elsewhere! What about queing? Well, even during the high season, and going to dinner at 19:30 (when everyone gets to the dining area) my longest wait was 1-2 minutes. The restaurant area is so huge, that queing for food hardly ever happens!

I also have to give sincere praise to the staff as well for perfectly organising breakfast, lunch and dinner. They never ever faulted (and mind you, they were serving hundreds and hundreds of people). The place was spottless at all times, and never ever ever were they running out of food. If some food was about to run out, they would imediately act and put more food. Ok, not all the time we had a waiter at our table (al though most of the time we had), but I didnt find it a problem to get myself the odd glass of water in case they were busy).

Talking about drinks: as mentioned, in the whole hotel you could get your beverages from the bars, or from the separate fridges down at the beach or at the swimming pool. They served LARGE cups of drinks, and all the wine came from the bottle (red, white, rose) and was served throughout the hotel including lunch & dinner. What struck me as well, as that the hotel has decided not to cut corners on the quality of the drinks: they served real Coca Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Schweppes, Tuborg beer, Stolinchkaya-Absolut-Smirnoff Vodka, Campari, Johnny Walker etc etc. As I am not fond of spirits myself, I did not really indulge in this and had the odd couple of glasses of wine and a few beers.

Entertainment was great. During the day they had lots of activities (darting, jeu-de-boules, volleyball on the beach, aqua gym in the pool), while in the evening at 21:00 they would start the "Mini Disco" for kids. Yes, the music at the mini disco was repetetive, but it's logical as the crew was trying to teach the kids all the moves, and you dont learn that overnight. I didnt sample much of the other entertainment (acrobats, fire show) as mostly after 21:30 I would be in the main lobby bar relaxing myself having a few glasses of wine and a talk with some fellow Dutch hotel guests.

Another thing I really admire the hotel for, is the care for their guests. The 2nd day we arrived a guy from the Customer Client Care department approached various guests including us to ask for our opinion about the hotel (positive and/or negative). He would write it all down, and I can only assume that this information is being further analised by management. At the end of the week we were asked to complete a survey, which we did, giving the hotel lots of praise for a perfect holiday experience.

The staff itself was very friendly and spoke very well English most of the time. Of course the hotel caters for russians mostly, but that doesnt mean they ignore other people (as I am originally from Holland). And during those moments that they would not understand a particular word, I would use the Google Translate app on my iPhone and show them the meaning (which made them smile)

The hotel also had a special kids swimming pool in the back of the hotel. Next to it, they had a special kids club, which organised all kinds of events for kids starting at the age of 4. Our daughter being younger had to be supervised by at least one parent (which was ok for us), and the kids-club people were very nice and kids seemed to love it. Also here they had a kids playground which my daughter loved.

We stayed almost all the time in the resort, and I cant give you any information about sight-seeing trips. Outside the hotel though, were many little shops where you could buy clothing, cigarettes, beach toys (for our daughter) and I negociated some prices down with 30-40% without any problem. ATM machines were also very close buy -in case one needed cash- as a Finansbank ATM was within 3 minutes walking distance. ATM's, I found out, in Turkey can dispense Turkish Lire, USD and EURO banknotes.

The fact that we loved this hotel as a family, does of course not mean that young(er) people can't go here. As a matter of fact there were a lot of young couples as well, and they seemed to enjoy it as much as we did.

On our last day, we woke up early, had some food, and we were picked up exactly at 5:30 (yep, that was early). We were driven straight to the airport, having made one stop to the other Akka hotel nearby, and flew back home.

I hope this review will give anyone the confidence to book a holiday in this more than excellent 5 star ultra-all-inclusive hotel. This hotel deserved my hard earned money, as they left us with an unforgettable relaxing holiday. In case anyone has any specific other questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Was there between 21-30.06 this year, couple, 35-40 old. Hotel is clean, beach can be better as we find it. Voleyball field full of pebbles, not only sand. Also on the beach between the sunbeds are small pebbles not only sand as we expected. Entering the sea and under watter was rocky, water shoes needed to feel confy. Entertainement teem OK during the day, at the pools, also in the evening. Front desk was smiley but very cold. English language can work, but not at everybody from the stuff, german less then english. If you know russian you will feel at home, also the 99% from the stuff kows russian. 80% of guests from ex-russian federation, but not so rude as we expected. Spa and hammam was nice and good. Food, same as (I think) in majority of the turkish resorts, this was our third travel to Antalya. If you prefer english or german then try Belek, Side or Alanya, few years ago there we were.

Room Tip: we prefered the land view, there you can see the sunset over the mountains, not the pool view, maybe...

Rooms clean and comfortable, excellent staff. Food was much better than expected. Nice pool and (pebbly) beach,.. but all the beaches are like that between Antalya and Kalkan. It has a beach at least. Separate pools for the kids is at the opposite side of the hotel so the only screaming you hear is from adults participating in the amusement program. Amusement program at night is okay... Just outside the hotel you can book tours to Olympos ruins, eternal fires (chimara), Ulupinar (fishing and eating in/between the waterfalls). Also tours to Phaselis (old ruins + great sandy bay... bring your own drinks and foods) but I suggest you go by taxi or rent a car... can easily spend a day on the beach there (8tl entrance)... with a tour it's just an hour... Would definetly recommend when staying in Kemer.

everything was fine there. the only thing i can't stand is that they served only chiken and fish. NO pork at all. only one dinner was with lamb.
we had a extra all inclusive week there. the staff and the resort were very very good. the facilities for childs were outstanding.
coca cola products and tuborg beer free every where in the hotel.
in every evening there was an entertaining programme with plays and jokes. after it (10.30pm) you could dance by the sea at an disco bar.
the pool was huge and very clean. the beach is rocky, you can't enter the sea without shoes. along the hotel there are lots of shops where you can buy anything (fake) at very low prices.
i don't know the distance from the airport but the bus made 1 hour and 40 minutes to the hotel (with lot's of stops).
all the staff spoke russian, and 85% of the guests were russians. english is the second language in all the kemer area.

Room Tip: if you have a kid, you could ask for a room near the kids pool, but is more noise there all day long
