“Do not expect superb breakfast!”

We as a group of eight have been to this place in August 2013. I am a great fan of village breakfast (koy kahvaltisi) but this place offers very standard Turkish breakfast. To say that this place offers a superb breakfast you must have some other connection with this restaurant.

I've been to hundreds of other restaurants in Turkey who offer village breakfast and I could say this has one of the least number of varieties. We decided to visit this place for breakfast after a brief search on the web. Their website advertises 30 varieties but our table had only 15 varieties, all of are ordinary that you can buy at a market (not any single special such as cheese with herbs, or any kind of village style mixture). The pictures on the website are misleading. The website also advertises 15TL per person but it is actually 17.50TL per person. Eight of us ordered 2 extra plates of cheese and one extra fried egg, we paid 180 TL (eqv. to 22.50 TL per person) This is because they also charge for bottles of waters they bring to the tables (most restaurants do not charge for water) and some other hidden charges). Do not expect 30 varieties or 15 Lira per person. (When we inquired about the difference in what is advertised on their website they advised us that the website has not been updated for 3 years)

On the other hand, the location is superb, you get to eat on-the-water tables in a forest-like environment. You can easily spend here nice 3-4 hours if you eat slowly.

Service was slow compared to UK and Turkey standards and I agree with other reviews who did not find the personnel friendly.

I believe there are 4 or 5 similar restaurants almost next to each other. Before you leave your hotel I suggest you speak to some locals -instead of your tour rep- for a better breakfast option. We were told the oldest place has the best breakfast option and is less tourist place (unfortunately, I do not remember the name of the place suggested by locals but it is definitely not Botanic which is just next to Tropic).

I stopped here on the way to Kas with a mixed Turkish/British group of 22 people. The organiser had pre-booked Turkish breakfast and we ate it on a long table in the cool shade of pine trees, with the river splashing past next to us. Some other customers had just caught trout.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious and dishes just seemed to keep coming. Chai and coffee were included, the service was fine, and the loos very clean. I would definitely stop here again on a trip down the coast and recommend it to others, at least for breakfast, which at 15 TL is such good value.

We went here at the suggestion of our travel book (Fodor's Turkey), which was a big mistake (as was that book). The hors d'oeuvre plate had a tasty eggplant thing, but the roasted eggplant entree was disgusting.

We also ordered fried mussels that never arrived. Instead they tried to give us grilled meatballs, which we didn't order (as we're pescetarian).

Everything was super expensive and terrible. Also, the servers were not friendly, and we argued for a while.

Randomly, they washed our car while we ate.

If you arrive before dark you can hire a rod and catch some fish, the river is full of them. As it gets dark relax in your wooden booth on floor cushions over the river and enjoy the meal. We had a full meze and a special fish to share. Fresh pitta bread kept appearing on the table fresh and hot from the oven! The service was great, we felt like special guests.
