“Nice Views if you are lucky!”
Reviewed September 26, 2011

We stayed here for two nights at the end of our walking holiday in Turkey covering some of the Lycian Way. It was much larger than the other hotels we stayed in and it lacked some of the personal touch of the others. We were supposed to be picked up in the centre of Kas but the Receptionist seemed to have lost our booking which was very disconcerting and got us off to a bad start.
Our room was very orange! Lots of orange curtains everywhere and orange organza piled up on the small table. Bath had a jacuzzi but had such high sides that I could have done with a step to climb in. Only a hand held shower in the bath too. We had a poor view with a balconey at the side of the hotel which was mostly filled with a air con unit.
Dinner was limited for me as a vegetarian - very little choice. Service a bit haphazard as having had starter and main course nobody came to see if we would like desert or coffee!
Breakfasts were better and there was plenty of choice. Lots of steps down to the sea and swimming there was very refreshing as the sea water pool was quite warm. Compliemntary shuttle service to Kas town was a bit limiting and too far to walk.
Probably would have preferred to stay nearer to Kas.

Room Tip: Ask for one with front sea view

villa tamara has enormous rooms (we had both a luxury suite and a honeymoon suite, which I recommend for the soberer décor) and very nice grounds. There are two swimming pools (one a sea water one) and a private access to the beach. Even when the hotel is full, you do not get the impression of being one on top of the other. There is a bar and a restaurant, with a breakfast buffet. Kas is not to be reached by foot (at least not in the heat of August) but it is quite easy to find a mini bus or you can always take a taxi. Staff spoke fluent English, which is not the common and they were extremely helpful with us when we forgot a piece of luggage. The view from the hotel is really very panoramic. The decoration of the luxury suite and the general organisation of the space in that room was quite absurd and there are a lot of stairs to climb up and down. The bathroom in the honeymoon suite was very very small (compared with the enormous room) and the bath leaked, but we still considered these very minor issues.

We would like to thank everybody in Villa Hotel Tamara for their hospitality. We accidentally found this marvelous hotel with a beautiful view and we never want to end our vacations. Hope to return next summer.

Room Tip: Rooms are big and you can choose the color of your room. Funny!

Terrible (NO) welcoming... No responsible person for welcoming, no one asks to help with carrying the bags when you are carrying hundreds of steps down and again back up by yourself even if you are a woman.
Payment "has" to be done on the 1st day?! So you don't have any chance to change your hotel during your stay.
We had to take shower with ice cold water for 4 days of our 6 days stay. Everyday we were complaining (guests of 2 different rooms ) about that but the manager was insisting that there was no problem with the water heat!? and didn't come with a solution.
Very poor breakfast... what we have ordered for breakfast was coming every day different. plates, cutlery, glasses are all different. very poor presentation.
No food service at the beach. when you try to order something to eat, the guy at the bar is asking to us to call the restaurant with our mobile in case not pay the phone bill by himself. since there is no connection between the restaurant up and the beach bar down...
Restaurant is very very expensive as much as 5 * hotel restaurant is.
Bathrooms are uncomfortable since there is no place to hang the water tap on the wall while you are taking shower.
Hotel is OVER VALUED...

Just returned from two weeks of total relaxation at the Tamara. The location on the peninsular is spectacular with views to die for, the setting ispeaceful and amazingly quiet with many secluded and private areas dotted in and around the hotel grounds .
We stayed in a standard room which was excellent - a good size, plenty of storage and amazing views extremely comfortable and quiet. The service was excellent throughout our stay - staff friendly, helpful but unobtrusive. The hotel has two excellent swimming pools again with amazing views and were quiet throughout our stay. Swimming direct from the beach platforms into the ocean is a wonderful experience as is watching the occasional boat sail by. Access into the hotel is very steep and the many levels throughout the building and grounds mean this hotel would not be suitable for anybody with walking difficulties - this will certainly not stop us from returning a.s.a.p.
A wonderful holiday!

Our third trip to Tamara and it just gets better. The rooms are so spacious and beautifully decorated and the bathrooms are a really good size, and everything is kept spotlessly clean. Thanks to the new chef, the food has gone from good to very good indeed, and the service was excellent. Sea access is easy, which is not the same all over the peninsula, and the pools are great places to relax, We could not have been made more welcome.

Room Tip: We had sea facing rooms, but all the rooms have sea views and are of the same high standard.

The location of the hotel, which has numerous terraces running down to the coast, is spectacular. The owner of the hotel is also its architect who has created a hotel with numerous and distinct spaces in which one can relax. The hotel also has direct access to the sea for swimming and the views are spectacular.

Service was excellent throughout our stay. We found all staff extremely helpful and willing to help. I note that a few reviews from last year have not been too good with regard to service, but any staffing issues there might have been have certainly been solved, so do not be put off by earlier negative reviews.

The hotel also has a people carrier that makes return visits to Kas three times daily. As an indication of how helpful the staff are, we missed the shuttle one afternoon and were offered a lift into town from one of the owners. I would say this generosity and willingness to help was typical throughout our week-long stay.
