“Small restaurant with some amazing signature dishes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

It`s pointless to reiterate whatever people before me have said, but I`ll do it anyway.

Whatever you chose from the menu will be above average.

Do try the milk-fish. (i found it to be too much for 1 person).
The fried fish is really good.
Anything oven-baked will be fantastic.

“MILK FISH. Best fish I have ever eaten. Fantastic place. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2013

This is by far the most delicious food I have eaten in a long time. Best fish ever. I thought, looking at people's reviews.. Milk fish?! EW. But actually it was phenomenally succulent and tasty.

I ordered the swordfish, which came on a skewer and had a lovely tomato and vegetable accompaniment but I just couldn't stop eating my partner's!

It is standard for most places to offer you mixed meze to begin with and to take your drinks order. The waiters here did it with a feeling of no pressure and I felt relaxed the whole time. It is quite rare to find somewhere which doesn't have someone breathing down your neck the whole time.

Basic rule... if there is someone outside, who, when you quickly glance at the menu runs over giving you a detailed account of their food. Avoid it. We made this mistake just a couple of places down from Ruhi Bey as we couldn't get in one night as it was full. We booked for the Saturday- You will probably have to book in advance too.
The place is attached to a rug shop and was awful.

The meze at Ruhi Bey was delicious. We had a bottle of white wine which was also lovely and fresh.
Service was perfect. Left enough time to chat in between and enjoy the atmosphere.

Ooh. We did spoil it a little by finishing with a Raki. OOF! Not like the raki we had in Crete in previous years. Very much like strong sambucca. Give it a try but at your peril (and I can drink).

Thanks guys for a lovely evening. Made our time in the town very special.

“Authentic backstreet food, but true restaurant atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013 via mobile

Probably the best possible mix of "back street style" authentic local cuisine, and proper "restaurant style atmosphere", set on one of the main restaurant strips in Kas.

Often to get "the real deal" of local food, you need to suss out a little corner bistro. Great food is to be had, but the seating, and the obviously lacking "fine dinner service" makes such small corner treasure troves an unlikely candidate for a "nice dinner" so to speak.

But what if you take a kitchen like one of these, and plonked it in the middle of the main restaurant strip, gave it proper seating, and insert an unlikely team of waiters... Ruhi Bey!

Great, and I mean really great local food, cooked in a tiny open kitchen (in fact the only building on the property is the kitchen, and a small WC) with a large formal open garden seating area. Nice tables and chairs, good cutlery and crockery, delightful relaxed table service (just like the whole Kas community really).

A potential "Best Restaurant" here.

PS - try the milked fish !

“Fantastic! Would go again!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013 via mobile

We had a wonderful dinner last night at Ruhi Bey! The food was excellent - and very turkish! The Mezze are on display inside the restaurant and you walk in and let them now, which ones you want. They were delicious. With bread I didn't need anything else. The mains were almost all fish and seafood. There was one chicken and a meat ball dish. We shared the "milked fish" as it was recommended here on Tripadvisor - and we loved it! Although we don't usually like fish a lot. Staff were very friendly, although very busy. Not all of them speak English though. All in all, we would definitely go back there.

“Not a "majority" review”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013 via mobile

Ok, so I went to this restaurant because of the high rating in TripAdvisor. I've been to Kas at least 8 times before. This restaurant has been open only 3 months, so maybe the issues are just new-business kinks to work out. But fyi-- bcs that's really what TripAdvisor is supposed to be about--an "alternative" POV. Server didn't know the menu. Barely a man, the teen who served us couldn't fields basic questions presented in Turkish. The adult servers were more capable but were reserved for tables with people they already knew-- so if you haven't been there before, you'll probably be "relegated". Unlike other restaurants in Kas, here the deboned fish came full of bones-- in Kas, fish people know how to debone. The bill was wrong-- way over-- just be careful and check the math. Our 2 menus had very different prices for wine and entrées. Food was fine, just not at all the place it was written up to be on TripAdvisor.
