“Magical experience”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

We are currently on our last day of a very amazing and memorable week and are very sad to be leaving this beautiful place tomorrow. We were greeted at the airport by luxury transfers which were exactly that and much needed as its a bit of a drive. Everything on arrival exceeded our expectations and our room (Topaz) is a dream.
The team here are second to none, the staff are friendly and accommodating, the skills of Eren the barman in making some beautifully skilled cocktails are impressive and we have been greeted by nothing but amazing hospitality. Salman one of the waiters here has really gone above and beyond to make our experience extra special and no request has been too much.
Despite being one of the waiting team he has taken time to check in how things are for us and help us with everything. For example, on noticing bites on my leg he sent for my bed to be changed and provided me with insect repellant, when I commented that our tap was faulty he had this fixed before we returned to our room. My Fiancé also arranged a romantic evening in for me which Salman made a reality for him including all of the flowers and small details. I have seen some people write negative reviews, which I am really disappointed about as I know that the staff here take a great pride in their work and some the comments are quite personal. I would any urge any prospective visitors to disregard comments centred on the nationality of the guests as these are frankly ludicrous and clearly outside the remit of the hotel to influence.
It is clear that some people's expectations are unrealistic and they may not appreciate or like the friendly approach of the team but speaking on behalf of ourselves and after speaking to other guests here I have heard nothing but praise for this hotel and the amazing team particularly Salman. I would say that the food and services are expensive but I knew this before we came. We would without hesitation (if we could afford a round two!) be visiting here again!

We just finished a weeks stay at the peninsula gardens, and thought the location and the cleanliness of the hotel was fantastic.

The lack of hospitality the staff provides, and the weird clientele give the whole experience a surprising twist.

Before we arrived, we had really high expectations based on the other reviews made on this website.

First of all, it takes over 2 hours to arrive at the hotel from the Dalaman airport -insider tip DO NOT USE the hotel recommended transfers...far too expensive and you can find other options by simply looking online. We payed half of what the hotel quoted.

Upon arrival we were well greeted, and our room called the ivory was average, based on the cheep quality of furniture (most from Ikea) and our bed was actually two twin beds pushed together...kind of uncomfortable. However, the view from the terrace was amazing!
Honestly, furniture from Ikea is not a problem, but when you're paying 1400 euros for a week you expect the quality of the rooms and all the details such as room decoration to be of finer quality.

Positives: free shuttle to the city center (if not the walk to the city center takes 1 hour 30 minutes...we tested), the two secluded lounge chairs on the lower deck with an amazing view of the sea, and the breakfast.

Negatives:
1.The staff!!!!! The front desk staff were pleasant, but you could feel their hospitality was a little forced (fake).

2.The wait staff...really, really, really, bad. I hate to say this, but its true. They never smiled, said hello, and you could tell by their looks we were always being judged. Solomon who was a waiter by the bar and for breakfast was nice, but his over the top personality was way too much. He would be much better working in a vacation club type atmosphere. Solomon, even confronted me when I accidentally forgot to tip a waiter who brought room service (one time). The only member of the wait staff that was close to being nice was the woman who often worked the breakfast service.

3.The room cleaning staff-not well staffed, but efficient, and don't even bother for a smile or a hello on their behalf.

4.The prices of the food, the private beach cabanas, and the excursions. The food prices were really elevated compared to what you can find in the city center. We recommend a restaurant in the city called Deniz-EXCELLENT authentic Turkish cuisine at very good prices, Cafe 7 for a little snack-very nice staff, and Cafe 11 for amazing happy hour (6pm-11pm) cocktails-buy one get one free. The beach cabanas were 75 British Pounds, and were nothing special...they do not even have direct access to the pool or sea. Finally, the excursions offered seemed nice, but they cost around 80 British Pounds per person.

5. BIG NEGATIVE- the clientele. 99 percent British, and not friendly. If you're looking for an international experience with people you can at least say hello to in the morning...do not stay at the Peninsula Gardens.

This hotel has a lot of potential all in all, but I thought some of the reviews were biased on this website. I hope my review can hep the travellers like us who travel to many high quality hotels (Soho House, St. Regis, W, and luxury boutique hotels) and who need honest reviews.

Room Tip: Our room was the Ivory, on the very last floor (but with two different elevators to take) was quite...

Elixir H, Manager at Peninsula Gardens Hotel, responded to this review, July 14, 2013
Very Special Place to Stay – Peninsula Gardens Hotel - Kas

We appreciate when reviews are actually accurate and well informed. N and C appear to constantly contradict themselves. They said that they were well greeted when they arrived but that the staff was not hospitable. If these lovely employees were not Turkish we could understand this comment but everyone without exception who’s been to Turkey comment on the warm, friendly hospitality of local staff. N and C gave such a low level score for the location only three yet they comment that however, the view from the terrace was amazing!

We do not understand why they class our British clients as weird? We find that our guests are usually remarkably astute and intelligent. Many who leave the positive reviews for the Peninsula Gardens Hotel are often well-heeled world travellers that are great at discerning the quality of this well organised and designed hotel.

The Peninsula Gardens Hotel has been open for over three seasons and Ikea was nowhere on the scene then (maybe just in the past five to six months). The beds are huge so even the tallest or largest person can be accommodated comfortably. The furniture is just designed along clean likes with a minimalist edge to each piece but set off by the local stone, onyx with the lighting behind under the floors as well as some areas of the walls, which brings out the strong vein and naturalistic element of this semiprecious beauty.

Elixir Holidays’ Transfers are legendary in Turkey with our distinctive service and attention to detail. With refreshment and beverages, stops organised at clients’ requests, uniformed drivers who deal with the guests with courtesy and helpfulness and just the sheer relaxation after arriving off a tiring flight into custom leather seats make travellers sit up and take notice of these sleek and stylish transfer vehicles.

Having increased the awareness of customer comfort, we constantly improve our service delivery to ensure that we are market leaders

The ultimate transfer – our fleet of long wheelbase Mercedes Sprinter minibuses (sleeperettes) feature four comfortable seats, plus two airliner-style seats in the rear that extend flat out to make full beds.

We agree that there are cheaper transfers from the airport than Elixir Transfers and many times we are contacted by one of these cheaper options in order to give directions to one of the resorts which we amusingly take on the chin. The good thing about our goods and services is that we do not treat our guests as captives – they are free to experiment with the local fare, taxis or entertainment – in fact we even encourage guests explore and enjoy the local flavour. This is quite possibly why this journey took over two hours.

We do have free shuttle to the city centre and when these guests missed one of theirs, our ground staff sent for a private air-conditioned luxury vehicle to collect them. Many do the walk in about 50 minutes when they are fit but others may take a little longer.

There have never been complaints that the service of the staff was fake or forced – our guests have always gone to look for a great relaxing holiday and nine out of ten times, that is what they find. Solomon obviously tried to cheer these two guests up but they still complained that he had an over the top personality.

We do understand that these guests had a problem with normal prices as our dedicated concierges for the Peninsula Gardens Hotel had to make a list of the most inexpensive budget places for food and drink without which local knowledge, these guests would not have done so well. The good thing about the resort of Kas, is that they do cater to all price bands, it is beautifully balanced for those seeking dedicated boutiques to small trinkets for those wishing to give gifts of a few Pounds.

Our British guests are lovely, friendly people who go on holiday to relax and enjoy themselves. They cannot be expected to laugh and chat constantly given they are usually very busy high flying professionals with very stressful lives. This analysis of the British is unfair and is not a great way to enhance the knowledge of those travelling to experience the pleasure and have an educational experience.

Even if the reviews on the website, disagree with N and C does not mean that they are biased, they do not try to stir up race hatred, disparage others and try to discourage meeting individuals because they are not of a particular race.

Room Tip: only 18 rooms, spectacular views even for the entry level rooms where these guests stayed, many with private plunge pools and several junior suites. The beds are vast and no Ikea furniture in sight more Bo Concept...

Travel Tip: Take Elixir’s legendary transfers leading to a relaxing start and end to your holiday.

Having just returned from The Peninsula Gardens in Kas Turkey, I wanted to say what an amazing holiday both my partner and I had. From the moment we were greeted at the airport by the Elixir rep and shown to our amazing transfer vehicle, air con, leather seats, mini fridge with ice cold water and DVD players (not your usual transfer I must say) things only got better. Reaching the hotel we were greeted by lovely friendly staff, shown to our room with our luggage being brought up for us. We had booked a superior room as all the Deluxe rooms were taken that week and it was not disappointing. Emerald room, top floor, was beautiful, double aspect windows, one leading to the plunge pool, the other onto our balcony with an amazing view out over the pool and bay. The room had everything you could need from to mini bar, ironing board, flat screen tv, DVD player, iPod docking station, etc. We ate at the hotel on 3 nights, the food was amazing, beautifully presented and each time the chef came out to see if everything was okay, nothing was any problem to these guys, lunch was also lovely, we ate there every day. The hotel provide a shuttle service into Kas 3 times a day, very efficient and comfortable with a really nice friendly driver. From the "maids" to the bar staff, nothing was too much trouble, everyone always had a smile for you, the whole hotel was beautifully clean, staff always exceptionally presented. I didn't really want to write a review because I would love to keep this little gem all to myself but these guys deserve to be praised.
I will defiantly be back, hopefully this year, but definitely next.
Thank you for an amazing week, peaceful, chilled and relaxing.

From the moment you set foot outside Dalaman airport, the luxury starts. Elixir don`t mess about. A leather seated, air conditioned, dvd player and cold drinks fridge are all part of the transfer to Kas. The transfer takes just over 2 hours on Turkey`s bumpy roads. Arriving at the hotel is an experience in itself. You are driven down an almost vertical slope with the rich blue sea in front of you. You enter the hotel main entrance, and it feels like you are entering into a cave as the hotel is built into the peninsula rocks.
Nothing can prepare you for the experience of opening your room door for the first time. A bright spacious room with incredible sea views (all rooms have sea views). The rooms are all named after precious stones and metals, all 18 of them. Our room was Emerald, absolutely stunning with its own plunge pool (all rooms except sea view rooms have their own plunge pools). Simply open the sliding door and step straight into the pool, unbelievable
The staff could not do enough for you, they are all extremely friendly and virtually all of them speak perfect English. The food is yet another example of the quality that this hotel boasts. The chef, apparently known as the "crazy masterchef" will delight you with amazing dishes and also some weird and wonderful serving suggestions, try it and you will see what I mean, maybe this is where the "crazy" comes from. A basic pizza from the lunchtime menu to a full blown evening dinner, you will not be disappointed
The hotel is situated on the peninsula approx 5 miles from the centre of Kas. You can walk into Kas if you like, but once again the hotel has a solution to this if you don`t fancy a trek in the heat. Minibuses are available for a free transfer into Kas, three times a day, two 2 hour round trips during the day and a three hour trip in the evening. Kas is very quiet by day, but at night the place comes alive. Every restaurant, cafe is trying to extract the Lira from your wallet, most dishes are especially cooked for you, if you see what I mean! Everyone in Kas is very friendly and once again they all speak perfect English
The hotel offers various trips out and about, just in case you get bored of lazing about in the sun.
Elixir holidays is an experience you really cannot afford to miss. It says on the side of their vehicles "Sleek and Stylish", I can think of a few more "Superb, Splendid, Sophisticated, " It may be a little more expensive than your mainstream tour opertator, but when you look back over the years, virtually all the holidays you have experienced with these mainstream companies will fade and be forgotten, your holiday with Elixir, and the Peninsula Gardens will stay fresh in your memory for many years to come. Splash out and spoil yourself, you will NOT be disappointed.

Room Tip: Emerald, this is a fantastic room with its own plunge pool,, and is not overlooked.

We initially booked Likya Gardens in Kalkan but by the time the Internet booking went through the last room had gone and we were called within 24 hours and offered the Peninsular Gardens Hotel instead, Platinum Suite. First impressions were 'rock star' type luxury minibus transfer from the airport with free chilled water. Location of hotel, stunning and Platinum Room, the best in the hotel, fabulous pool, terrace and facilities. Very large bed, not so sure about the mirrors on the ceilings (maybe 20 years ago!!!). Molton Brown toiletries replenished every day and mini bar replenished every day although chargeable. Although we loved the room, it was basic in terms of quality of furniture, decoration and finishing around socket areas, decorative mouldings not fully painted, but the bed was comfortable, the rain shower with the onyx inlay was fab and there was plenty of cupboards and drawers.

The staff were superb. From Melik in reception through to the outstanding and humorous Salmon who brings fantastic humour to the hotel as well as a work ethic second to none. All the staff were extremely attentive and could not be faulted. The food in the hotel is not cheap, it is beautifully presented but could be better. The first meal we had was very good but the barbecue evening was disappointing. The meat was dry and there were no sauces to accompany the meat which would have made it more palatable. No chicken skewers with onion or peppers which seems to be served in all restaurants, just plain meat and fish overcooked. The wine and spirits are expensive and wine can only be purchased by the bottle. The staff tried so hard all the time but this was the one area that slightly let the hotel down.

The shuttle service to the town of Kas was faultless, always on time and if the main shuttle car was full, more cars arrived within minutes to ensure everyone was accommodated. Do not believe that it is a 50 minute walk to Kas, whoever did it in that time must have jogged the whole way!! It is not such a bad walk down to the town although long and hot but it is a challenging walk back of around 1 hour and 20 minutes, uphill!! Kas is a pretty bustling port which comes alive at night with local families and children all playing in the square which is a pleasure to see, not an iPhone or iPad in sight, just kids and sometimes a ball! If you want to stay out later than the 10.30 pm return transfer from the town to the hotel, there are lots of taxis and cost is only 20 lira. Turkey is not renowned for its food but we had good honest reasonably priced meals.

A MUST is the guillet lazy day cruise organised through the hotel. The food on this trip which starts from Kalkan was the best we had the whole week cooked by the captain. The boat was very good quality with his and hers toilets, and the scenery and bays we visited were very beautiful. It is on a route used by all the boats so you are never on your own in a bay but diving off the boat into the sea makes it all worthwhile. We enjoyed this so much we booked another guillet through Melik in the hotel, a private boat for 4 of us leaving from Kas with a lovely Turkish family who took us to some almost better bays with warm sea, one of which we were totally on our own in a lovely rocky cove. Sadly I didn't get the name of the boat but enquire to Melik who will know.

Overall a wonderful week, very comfortable hotel, superb staff. Very few people stayed at the hotel for dinner so this is an area that the hotel could look at in terms of appeal.

Room Tip: The pools are what they say plunge pools and no more except the silver, gold and platinum suites whe...

Peninsula Gardens is quite simply a beautiful relaxing retreat. A small hotel it offers first class service. Each member of staff is a credit to the hotel, they are warm, friendly, exceptionally helpful, nothing is too much trouble. There is no 'hard sell' about anything and they are genuinely happy to help. Each room is beautiful (we stayed in Pearl) and the private pools make the stay extra special. You can stay by your own pool, or lie in the shared terrace by the sea. I recommend you hire a cabana which makes the holiday 'extra special' but make sure you book it as soon as possible as there are only two and they are very popular. Also make sure you book in for a haman spa the day you arrive, the experience is amazing and you'll retain your tan for longer.

There is a complimentary shuttle bus that takes you into Kas town 3 times a day, make sure you go. There are numerous restaurants that are all a high standard, and the town is beautiful. We ate at 'The blue house' (Great views and beautiful house) and 'Tzatziki' both are great.

I'd also recommend a day trip, we went on the one that went to Salikent (your wading through a river gorge - so take, or get there jelly shoes - do not go in flip flops you'll regret it!) and Patara a beautiful protected turtle beach.

Finally make sure you get the private transfers, the vans are like private jets on wheels! Leather seats, plush carpeted floors and DVD players.Exilir has numerous and they are all amazing.

Room Tip: Personally I'd pay extra to take one with a private pool (we stayed in Pearl, it is high up and...

My Husband Matt and I have just returned from a week at the PG in the Topaz Room. Over the years we have travelled to many places both on and off the beaten track and now we are quite fussy about what we expect from our precious time away from work and the hum drum of everyday life, so we were not disappointed with the time spent here in this amazing resort.
Matt is far more outgoing then me on holiday and likes to make friends and speak to staff where as I shut down and keep a low profile as this is my time to relax, unwind and not rush about or make too much of an effort, this place suited us both 100%. I was worried as we approached the hotel with its steep hill and not yet finished road but as they say ‘never judge a book by its cover’ as this little gem started to show its self I was more than pleasantly surprised as the website does not do it justice and its amazing how quickly you feel comfortable and relaxed.
On our travels I’ve found it very rare that you manage to find a place that puts a tick in every box:
Great view, Great accommodation, Great food, Great staff and have become content with at least 3 of these things being ticked for my holiday to be amazing so again imagine my shock when the PG managed to tick all these boxes and so many more.
I could rave on about this place for at least several more paragraphs but I think you will just have to book some time here and experience it for yourselves to really see what I mean.
I will say a big thank you to all the staff who each in turn made our trip special – nothing seems to be too much, however I agree with the previous comments regards Salman the waiter who made dinner times that extra bit special and always left us smiling either with him or at him!! The House keeping ladies who despite the language barrier were always more than helpful, attentive and saved me from several insect emergencies! I thank them, But I think the biggest pat on the back must go to the Chef who has the most impressive and creative repertoire for someone of his age and I predict a very bright future ahead for him.
I’m only upset about 2 things:
First we had to leave so soon and second it won’t be long until many other people find this hidden gem and its wonderful experience, I just hope they don’t change it in any way.
