We stayed at Hotel last year and despite the reviews over room size we decided to book. BAD DECISION! I have only ever done one review before but have to about this one. All the photos we saw with the normal rooms have been 'photoshoped'. They have all been stretched by about 40%. I could lay in bed and touch the floor on both sides with my hands. If my wife was sat doing her hair or make up I had to climb over the bed! The shower cubicle was 700mm square so I couldn't even was under my arms as I couldn't lift them!
After two days we were resigned to staying there and making the most of it but while waiting for a shuttle into town the manager overheard my wife saying to another resident that she was going to write on Tripadvisor he called her into his office and told her to leave immediately!!! He gave us 30 minutes to leave the room. He the most abusive, arrogant and ignorant man we have met. I was not going get into an argument with him as he had threatened to call the Police and, as I know what they are like there, decided to keep quiet or realised we would experience severe difficulties. We packed and he wanted to know where we were going so he could ' warn all the hotels in Kalkan so we wouldn't have anywhere to stay'. A vicious horrible man.
We decided to walk some distance before flagging down a taxi so he wouldn't know where we were going

On no account book this hotel, it could be the best hotel in Kalkan but it's soulless, heartless and poorly run. The breakfast balcony is stunning, the beach club is lovely but the rooms in small, shabby and like prison cells. Please don't book. There are hotels much closer to the centre of Kalkan ( the Kalamar is a 30 minute walk over the hill) where the staff a friendly helpfull and welcoming. The pool is minute, out of the sun for most of the day, unheated and freezing

My wife and I are professional people both being directors of companies and both in the service industry. We know how to treat our customers. The Kalamar is experience almost ruining or first trip to Kalkan, fortunately we found a wonderful hotel after being sat on the streets of Kalkan for a few hours with our cases. We loved it so much we are booking again this week.

Go to Kalkan it's perfect... NOT THE KALAMAR !

We had 11 nights of pure bliss at the kalamar hotel. Nothing was to much trouble, everyone friendly and welcome you as family. Breakfast is as you would expect, continental but far more than you can eat setting you up for the day. I recommend the duplex rooms with lounge and bathroom and a spiral staircase to the bedroom. All modern and of a very high standard. Views of the med and weather fantastic. Great pool and everything you could want. Best yet it is far enough from town to be nice and quite, but close enough that you can walk into town. You should try it, we will be going back. They even have a private beach club with free transport down the hill and back.

We stayed at The Kalamar hotel with friends during the last week of July, and having read previous reviews, we both opted for the suites. These are not much more expensive and were well worth the extra. The rooms are quite simple, but tastefully decorated, with a fridge and a well equipped bathroom - the walk in shower was really powerful and unusually, (one for the girls) the hair dryer had a blow drying snozzle. There was also plenty of storage space, but I always take extra hangers and we definately needed them - although of course they will supply more if you ask.

The real beauty of the suite are their our terraces, which are private and really well furnished - we had two beds, two umbrellas, a two seater settee and single 'armchair'. I really couldn't fault it and add to this, superb views and the evening sun - what better way to enjoy the odd gin and tonic before heading for town.(The bar man was also very happy to provide a container of ice). I think our friends possibly had the better terrace of the two, it was more open, and therefore less private, but got a breeze, which, in temperatures of 45 degrees was very welcome. I think it was room 3101.

Breakfast seems to get a bit of bad press in previous reviews, but we found it to be more than adequate and the bread is fantastic; the chef also provides two hot dishes. Strangely, we also found the coffee ok, but have to agree about the orange juice - it's not brilliant. The views are great though, and the service attentive. The Guest Relations' Manager also has a high profile at breakfast, and he's fantastic - really helpful and speaks good English.

The Kalymar Beach Club is free to guests and is a fairly steep walk down the steps (past the tennis court) to the club. Towels are not provided, so you will need to bring your own, but the beds are comfortable and there are plenty of umbrellas and shady areas. If you like snorkelling, then I suggest you go to the right hand side, where the Kalkan Dive Centre is based, as they feed the fish here, and there's therefore plenty to see. You can also do a padi course here, or have your photo taken feeding the fish - I really wish I had taken the course now, but there's always another time. Lunches were great and the waiters were lovely - they get to know you very quickly by name, as you settle your bill at the end of the day and just give your first name for the tab. A shuttle returns to the hotel on the hour and quite honestly, I wouldn't even bother trying to walk back in the heat of late July.

We didn't walk into Kalkan at night, as it was just too hot, but we shared a taxi which was 16 lire (£5.50 ish) to the taxi rank - the hotel will call one for you. On the way back however, we often stopped off at The Elixir for a night cap, so at least got a bit of exercise at the end of the night!

This hotel isn't five star, and it doesn't sell itself as such, but it does represent superb value for money and has much to recommend it. We loved it and it was certainly a place where you could unwind, although a week was about right for us. After that, when we were on our own, we moved onto the Lykia, for an entirely different part of the holiday.

Room Tip: Choose a suite - it's well worth the extra!

We visted Kalkan 7 years ago and were not sure waht to expect going back after such a break, The Kalamer however was fantastic with views over the bay second to none. we had a suite with a private balcony which made a lot of difference as peeking into other rooms many of them looked quite small, but couldn't fault the one we had. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly, breakfast is a bit basic, and we would have like tea/coffee facilities in the room, but minor niggles really. The Beach Club is fantastic and again the staff are friendly and helpful. Don't over do the lunch menu though, smaller portions would have left more room for the restaurants in the evenings!

Lovely hotel, really clean, brilliant views of Kalamar bay, great beach club, friendly staff, particularly Simon the Manager. View from the roof top terrace where breakfast is erved each morning is stunning, Ideal location as you have the tranquility of Kalamar Bay but easy access into Kalkan. We just had the standard room but would definately upgrade to a suite or duplex next time, although the standard room had verything you need it was a bit small. The walk into Kalkan genuinely does only take 25mins and its a pleasant walk as the majority of the walk is down hill. We only ever walked back once and to be honest it wasnt that bad but a cab back from Kalkan only cost appx 16lire. There is also a curtesy bus from the hotel into Kalkan every evening so if you dont want to walk you can use the bus. The hotel is very quite, Lots of steps withn the hotel and down to the beach club so not ideal for small children or anyone with mobility issues. I personally dont think the beach club would be ideal for children under 5, but great fun for everyone else. You have to climb down ladders to get into the water (or of course jump in) but you soon get used to it after a couple of days. There are some concrete steps where you can walk in at the end of the patio area behind the dive centre kiosk. Brilliant service in the beach bar, lovely food served, nice iced glasses for that much needed glass of beer. Curtesy bus does run from the hotel in the morning and again in the afternoon to take you back to the hotel. We would definately go back to this hotel. Thanks all for a great time

Had a 10 night stay at this hotel through agents "Travel Republic", booking and help , very good but beware when you book the transfers as when we arrived at Dalaman airport we went straight through arrivals and thought we were going straight to the resort , but had to wait a further 90 mins to accommodate another couple from a different flight from Luton airport.

The hotel and Kalkan were great , stunning views from the hotel very friendly and helpful staff, I must mention Simon the manager of the hotel, a wonderful guy who was on hand at all times to assist and help with your plans for the day,he would be an asset to any hotel.
Would definitely return for another holiday............

We have never returned to the same resort, nor the same hotel, but we were so impressed with the Kalamar Hotel and the resort of Kalkan that we did just that and were not disappointed in either.
Staff were just as friendly at the Kalamar and the views from the breakfast terrace were just as stunning as we remembered from our first visit. Standards were just as high and the grounds extremely well kept. We upgraded our room to a duplex and weren't disappointed as the extra space was very welcome.

Salkan, the new guest relations manager was very attentive making a point of enquiring each day of checking that all was well and we were enjoying our stay. The beach club is the perfect place to relax and lunch in the restaurant was great. It is difficult to single out staff as they are all extremely committed to ensuring you have a good time, but not in an obtrusive way.

Points that could be improved; better quality juice and butter at breakfast. Better quality towels in the bedrooms.

Thanks all for such a great time!

Room Tip: Standard rooms are fine but a little on the small side. I would choose either a duplex or a suite
