Wow - this is by far the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in and my nicest ever beach holiday. A small, friendly, quirky, pretty little bohemian place with idyllic views, friendly staff, WONDERFUL food and an all round chilled and happy atmosphere. We stayed in the deluxe timber room - Mimosa - which has so much personality and absolutely panoramic views - perfect for honeymooners and absolutely worth an upgrade for anyone looking for an unforgettable trip. PLEASE book this room, you won't regret it. The location was perfect for us too, close enough to the centre of Kalkan which had a huge choice of lovely restaurants (not one bad meal) but didn't feel too over-run with Brits, and at the same time, the hotel itself felt fairly secluded. On some days we even had the pool and small timber bar entirely to ourselves with what felt like private service. Kalkan is a pretty little town and if you want culture, history, sights and beaches, this place is for you. If you're looking for somewhere lively and want entertainment, it's not. It's pleasantly bustling with atmosphere but not spoiled. The near-by Kaputas beach is one of the nicest I've ever seen (10 min drive) and even the little man-made beaches a short walk from the hotel are beautiful, with clear waters and dramatic scenery. There was just so much wonderful stuff to do. We went in late September and virtually had the ancient ruins we visited all to ourselves - breathtaking! If you're just looking for a restaurant in Kalkan, then it may be worth making the trip to this side of town for Fidanka too, it's very different to what's being offered elsewhere, small, isolated, quiet and romantic with the nicest food we tried all week and great music and ambiance. I really can't recommend Fidanka House highly enough. I'm amazed it isn't ranked number 1 on Trip Adviser and I don't even think the pictures do it justice. It felt like home. I didn't ever want to leave and will now recommend it to everyone I know.... although a part of me wishes I could keep this place our little secret.

Room Tip: The deluxe timber rooms are exquisite, worth every penny. Mimosa is the best room ever.

Like many others we have returned to Fidanka and found it even better than last year. The staff so much more friendly, same fabulous views and a genuine warm between guests.
Rooms are spacious and quirky and although look like something belonging more to Scandinavia remained cool. Most things have been covered and said, but I'd highly recommand this small but very attractive hotel.

Room Tip: Book direct and subject to budget go for the top rooms.

Second year here. At one point we were a big party taking over 7 rooms and ordering dinner for 21. Nothing is a problem. Rooms are spacious and the views are amazing, especially the top suites. The owner as a sweet retired dentist who desgined the hotel and collected all the old wood which is over 100 years old. She said she likes to think of the place as a museum and we felt like part of the family staying in her house, rather than being in a hotel. Interesting to read the negative comments, guess " everyone likes different things ". However having spent a great deal of time travelling with business in Hilton, Marriot, Sheridan, etc this hotel is cute and quirky.

Room Tip: If you are a couple go got the top suites

Fidanka Houses stand a head above the many similar establishments offering holiday rooms in Kalkan. The location, in a newly developed section to the East of the town, is less than perfect. But the layout of the property is very pleasant, with 11 spacious rooms hugging a beautiful swimming pool. The interiors are decorated elegantly, in part with valuable antiques. The garden is a riot of flowers. It is the handiwork of Nükhet Hanım, a charming lady from Istanbul who owns and runs the place with her two daughters and their families.

The hotel creates a estimate of exquisite culture and modern convinience to insure you a memorable stay.
A 300-metre walk down the hill is the beach, where you can dive from rock platforms into the fabulously clear and deep sea.
Also there is a small restaurant that you can find palatable things to eat.(An a-la-carte restaurant serving mediterrenean cuisine daily)
The best season is the end of August. İnt he rooms at he top of the otel they have jacuzzi inside. So you have a chance to drink your white wine inside your jacuzzi with your partner in company with a great view.

I have read so many good things abaout Fidanka before I went. But nothing is enough to describe it. It has something different, it’s not only a boutique hotel, it’s a real place which just have it’s own soul. The objects, the flowers, the rooms, the breakfast, the food, the pool, the sea, the view and the owners. It’s just like a little match box of a perfect world. According to me no where in the world looks like Fidanka. Should see before die !

Thanks to owners that they have created such a extraordinary architecture giving us taste of Mediterranean! Great welcoming, warm service, wonderfull location! In Kalkan you cant find a hotel on sea side but Fidanka has quickest access to the sea, which is a advantage in Kalkan!
I can easily understand that you can not decorate Fidanka's within few months or years! when we talked to owner learnt that they collected the decoration pieces within 30years or long! Yes they have put all their life time collection in to lovely Fidanka, which gives a living spirit to the hotel!
By the way they have great view, lovely sunset and perfect breakfast!

A friend who had been going to Fidanka faithfully for years had been urging me not to miss this gem; so off I went this summer.  It is such a unique place with its own charms and character. They have many different-styled rooms; all more beautiful than the other, so trust your potluck. I stayed in one of the Terrace Timber Rooms, a very spacious room with an amazing view and a big balcony with sofas. The staff are all very helpful and welcoming. The food is delicious -  we stayed there for five nights and we chose todine there in three of them. Honestly I felt at home and in nature there – check out the spot right in the ceiling of the lobby where apparently the same swallow family has been nesting for many years now…

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Fidanka, with its fauna, trees, beautiful gardens and antique furnishings, is a Mediterranean fairytale brought to life by a family from İstanbul who loves nature, art, gourmet food and locales with soul. Fidanka means female sapling in Bulgarian, and grows even more beautiful year after year with our love and the happiness of our guests. We have collected hundreds of objects and fauna throughout the years all over Turkey and the world, not because we think of them as decorations, but because we couldn’t bear to be without them. Toys from our childhood, mementos from our families, wooden ceilings, timber doors, window frames - some from nearby villages, some from the other side of the world, all combine to make Fidanka what it is. Fidanka offers five types of beautiful rooms each with immense terraces opening to breathtaking sea views. We used antique furnishings in all rooms, especially in the Timber Rooms. ... more   less
