A friend who had been going to Fidanka faithfully for years had been urging me not to miss this gem; so off I went this summer.  It is such a unique place with its own charms and character. They have many different-styled rooms; all more beautiful than the other, so trust your potluck. I stayed in one of the Terrace Timber Rooms, a very spacious room with an amazing view and a big balcony with sofas. The staff are all very helpful and welcoming. The food is delicious -  we stayed there for five nights and we chose todine there in three of them. Honestly I felt at home and in nature there – check out the spot right in the ceiling of the lobby where apparently the same swallow family has been nesting for many years now…

Having recently spent a fantastic 10 nights at Fidanka we can verify that the hotel is fully justified in the accolades it is receiving both in the UK & Turkish travel press - and believe me, I have a 'Hotel Inspector' style wife! Owners went the extra mile in welcoming us, driving us into town for the market and boat trips given we didn't have car hire. Breakfast and evening meal were of an excellent quality and far superior to meals we ate at the well-marketed, more expensive locations in town.
Rooms were indeed 'quirky', but immaculate and with stunning views that will live long in the memory. 'Quirky but not worth the money' ensured we all heard their 'issues' upon Checking-out; if it's a flat location with cool temps and English dialogue you're after look elsewhere. Enough said.

Wonderful hotel, lovely polite people & great weather.

For 130 euros per night savvy travellers have certain expectations, and these were not met.
The positives: great views and great breakfast.
The negatives: Shoddy decor, no maid service, broken refrigerator, no black out curtains so you wake up at sunrise.
The 300 meter walk to the beach the advertise is 300 VERTICAL meters:
you have to walk on a curvy road in terrible condition under the blazing sunshine for almost one kilometer.
The staff don't speak english, don't smile, have no interest in serving you and make you feel unwelcome. We ordered two lemonades and caught the bartender sipping from one of them. When confronted he alleged that one lemonade was for himself! Even if this were true, paying customers should be served first. There is no information about all the wonderful things to do in and around Kalkan. You are far from the center of town so there is little choice but to stay in the hotel for dinner unless you hike down the mountain and take a boat into town and back. Meals at the hotel are ok although there are far better options in town. There is a very capable young woman who runs the dinner service very efficiently, with a smile and a kind word for everyone.
There is a kettle in the room but can't have tea or coffee in the room because none is provided, not even a bottle of water. The owner who is the only one who speaks english, is hardly ever present. When an issue is raised, the staff look at you with a blank stare, as no one understands. There are many options in Kalkan town, at better prices and certainly much better service. As I read the other reviews, I wonder if we stayed in the same place!

My partner and I just spent a quick 2 nights in Kalkan and throughly enjoyed this amazing hotel.
It has everthing you could imagine .. charm, intimacy, location, wonderful staff ... what more can I say .. wish we could have stayed longer.
I will definitely be returning when my family come to visit in a few months.

My partner and I stayed at Hotel Fidanka for a week in July 2012 and it was fantastic. We stayed in an Upper Suite room, which was more than big enough for the two of us with a living room, changing room, bathroom and bedroom, as well as two balconies overlooking Kalkan bay. The decor was lovely - traditional and comfortable, with lots of handmade touches by Cüneyt's mother-in-law, which made it really special, a home from home.

It wasn't just our suite that was stunning - the whole hotel is an eclectic mix of handmade crafts, natural oak construction and gardens that were bursting with beautiful colours and scents. The staff were great too - friendly, efficient and keen to share they're knowledge of the local area. If you're looking for the privacy and luxuary of a hotel, but the personality and friendliness of a B&B - you'll find it at Fidanka!

The hotel is in Kisla, which is a 25 min walk, 5 min taxi ride or 10 min boat journey from Kalkan - still on the coast, but in a residential rather than town centre location. We liked this, as it was quiet and relaxing - plus we chilled out by the hotel pool or at the Kalkan Beach Club most days, which is also in Kisla and has a small pebble beach, which most of the other beach clubs don't. The Kalkan Beach Club also runs a shuttle boat from the beach at Kisla to Kalkan harbour, with the last one at about 8pm each night. This was much more cost-effective than getting a taxi into town.

We thoroughly recommend this hotel - particularly for couples looking for a romantic and relaxing getaway. We're definately planning to return. Thank you Cüneyt and team.
