First of all I would say we spent a wonderful holiday with my wife in Fidanka houses. View, embraced by the nature, calmness impressed us so much. For many years, a holiday for the first time we felt rested.Service and food were wonderful. We stayed very pleased with the hospitality. We felt at home in ourselves and never missed.

We know very well where to spend vacationing with my wife next time.

Thank you for everything Fidanka...

It's an amazing place. Foods and service is excellent . When you're in one of those timber rooms , you can feel yourself peacefull. I've never been so close to the stars before. Fidanka is one of my favorites. I'm thinking to go there this summer again.

Located on far side of Kalkan heading towards Kas, we arrived at night time later than anticipated (around 8:30pm). A little tricky to find, but head towards Patara Prince hotel and you won't go far wrong. I knew we were at the right place but on arrival owner seemed confused despite us producing our confirmation email! We were eventually shown to our room (awkward in the dark as lighting is limited so watch your step) and quickly put everything away so we could eat before it got too late. All the restaurant seating is outside around the pool area. Food was a little slow arriving but it was tasty and exactly what we needed after our journey. The owner is an odd character. He was friendly enough most of the time but we sometimes felt like a burden, he seemed disinterested. Partly because of this and partly because we like trying as many different places as we can, we ate out in Kalkan most nights. All rooms were full (Brits, Spanish and Americans) but most people went off and did their own thing during the day. The pool was lovely and the view wonderful. I loved the quirkiness of the hotel, lots of wood, mirrors, plants, flowers and childhood bric a brac but lots of room for improvement regarding customer service. Also, we couldn't lock our room door and no attempt was made to fix it. We travel a lot and never take valuables but even so, not good enough.

Room Tip: Rooms on ground floor have a hammock or beds to lounge on outside their doors. Rooms on other floors...

We went here on the recommendation of a friend who said the location was stunning and the construction of the hotel fascinating as it is made almost entirely of recycled timber and tiles etc. We were warned that the service wasn't 5* but, hey, we don't need that.
But what an understatement! The service was appalling. Three people do everything from carry luggage, serve at the bar, lay out the buffet breakfast, make the beds - everything. And their heart is clearly not in it - in fact the main guy told us he was leaving at the end of this season.
The day we arrived it was unseasonally cold and blowing a very strong wind. Surprised therefore to find at breakfast that guests were to be sat on the terrace around the pool while all three staff sat inside huddled around a three-bar electric heater!
Other sloppy signs were: breakfast plates dirty; no saucers available; no spoons available; bread not fresh every day; ice machine broken; DIY kettle for tea or coffee either empty or broken.
The redeeming feature was the proximity of Bob's cafe/restaurant over the road. A fantastic host, fine food, pleasant and helpful staff. If you stay at the Fidanka you HAVE to eat at Bob's.
All in all, a very attractive hotel, badly let down by the attitudes of the staff and management. Oh, and it is possible to walk into Kalkan - we did the return trip twice and took only about 40 minutes each time.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a timber terrace room or suite - only they are high enough to see the splendid vie...

We were really keen to stay at Fidanka as we knew it would be quirky and off the beaten track. Spot on on both points. Much wood, interesting bric a brac and beautiful plants and flowers sprinkling an all together interesting set up. It has a lot going for it but the staff are a bit bemused and not quite on top of things. Breakfast was always different by being the same except that every day something would be forgotten. Efficiency was an alien concept which could be frustrating but you had to see the funny side. The rooms are all different but each with fab views over Kalkan bay. Pity you can't really walk into the centre and a car, even for a few days, is advisable. Much check out Mahal Beach Club which is just down the hill - and Bob's deserves a mention for drinks, lunch or dinner which is just across the road. A few improvements and raised service levels could make this a lovely venue.

Room Tip: Seems that Simply Travel (Thompson) doesn't have the best rooms - more like Tapestry and other m...

beautifully set, nice rooms but strangely disinterested staff and cleaning ladies (and boys) have a very special approach to removing (or not removing) dust and dirt. Towels not changed daily, actually twice during our one week stay. Toilet paper allocated sparingly. WiFi unreliable. Restaurant OK, but there is so much better in town. We'll stay elsewhere next time.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Fidanka, with its fauna, trees, beautiful gardens and antique furnishings, is a Mediterranean fairytale brought to life by a family from İstanbul who loves nature, art, gourmet food and locales with soul. Fidanka means female sapling in Bulgarian, and grows even more beautiful year after year with our love and the happiness of our guests. We have collected hundreds of objects and fauna throughout the years all over Turkey and the world, not because we think of them as decorations, but because we couldn’t bear to be without them. Toys from our childhood, mementos from our families, wooden ceilings, timber doors, window frames - some from nearby villages, some from the other side of the world, all combine to make Fidanka what it is. Fidanka offers five types of beautiful rooms each with immense terraces opening to breathtaking sea views. We used antique furnishings in all rooms, especially in the Timber Rooms. ... more   less
