My first package holiday (never been a herd animal!) didn't like the long transfer journey but were kept supplied with cold bottled water. Nice welcome at the hotel, quick check in. Air con unit in our room was a bit noisy and water was not as hot as would have liked. Spotlessly clean pool and gardens area. Enjoyed atmosphere at pool bar for evening pre dinner drinkies. Didn't take any evening meals at the hotel but daytime snacks were fine.
Drinks prices average for area.

  • Liked — Poolside shaded sitting area, bar.
  • Disliked — Being on top of a big hill, a kiler in the sun and not much better after a night on the town. Taxi charges went up each time we used them.

We've just returned from a wonderful two week holiday at the Asfiya hotel. I could not fault any aspect of the hotel at all. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was a suite (not one with a jacuzzi) and it was large ande comfortable, however the balcony, (although big enough to sit and admire the lovely view of the bay) was a bit on the small side compared to other balconies I've had.
There was an excellent choice of fruit, cheese, eggs & cold meats etc for breakfast and if you wanted something different (an omelette for example) the chef was only too happy to cook it for you.
During the day there are three pools to choose from, including the adult only roof pool, along with some pretty sheltered garden areas to loung in. We spent the first week lounging in the garden area, however, because there were more children the second week we opted to use the adult pool in the second week, it was great to have that flexibility.

As for eating out in Kalkan, what a choice!! There are over 60 restaurants to choose from and we did not have a bad meal in any of those we chose, the lamb and fillet steaks are particularly good.

We stayed at the Asfiya for the first two weeks of July. It is a relatively small hotel, commonly called a boutique hotel these days.

The rooms are large, ours had a jacuzzi, with a very strong air conditioning unit. Sheets and towels are changed daily and there is a reasonable amount of storage space for your holiday clothes.

Breakfast is served between 8 and 10 with an excellent choice including a an omelette chef at your service. The breakfast tables are situated around the pool area and in the shade and provides a marvellous start to your lazy day.

The major pool is large and very clean. The hotel is not really a "family" hotel so the number of children should be low and we certainly didn't feel the need to use the "adult only" pool on the roof.

The staff are truly excellent; providing an excellent level of service with a wonderful sense of humour. One sour note for us was that Billy the bar manager left after about 10 days into our holiday, due to the sacking of his brother who also worked at the Asfiya. Billy was the life and soul of the hotel and things went a wee bit flat when he left.

The bars and restaurants are a 10 minute walk down a relatively steep road. Indeed Kalkan is all downhill in the early evening which inevitably means it's all uphill at the end of your night. A taxi back to the hotel is essential unless you are a great deal fitter and younger than me.

There are a great number of superb restaurants in Kalkan; our personal favourite was the Marina right on the front. But I'm positive you could find 14 great places to eat with great ease. Prices are more expensive that you would find in Marmaris, but you certainly get what you pay for.

All in all both the hotel and the resort were top class, and I am sure we will be returning soon.
