“Good hotel with a beautiful garden and pool”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2010

I spent several weeks doing my research before booking this hotel. I think that it was very good choice. The young man at the reception desk , Halil was excellent. Highly recommended. Nothing was too much trouble, he performed his role with courtesy and enthusiasm. The hotel is about a fifteen minute slow walk into Kalkan town, an ideal location. All of the guests staying at the same time as us in October were from Britain. Some of the older retired types had been visiting the same hotel for eight or nine years. All the staff knew the regulars, and the only (slight) downside was that all of the waiters and breakfast staff paid a little more attention to the regular clients than to us.
Despite of the above we had a good holiday. The breakfast consisted of bread, olives, tomatoes and thick yougurt. Fried eggs were available when the young lad who did the frying was there, which was quite frequent. The pool was clean, there were just enough sunbeds for everyone, although the practice of leaving towels for several hours on a bed whilst not using it was practiced here as well. The bar had most of the well known drink brands. The highlight of the holiday was the marvellous super friendly cleaning ladies who all stepped outside in a line to bide us farewell on our last day. They gave us an enormous hug and invited us to come back next year.

We stayed at the Meldi for one week last year, but that was not long enough so we went back this year in June for two weeks the owner Sahap and his wonderful staff made our holiday, nothing was too much trouble We are going back again this weekend for a week and cannot wait, we wouldnt dream of going anywhere else now. We only wish we had gone sooner when friends told us about the hotel. Not only are all the staff friendly but also the guests who go out of their way to say good morning and have a chat. The evening food menu is out of this world with my husband saying the "Meldi do the best steak in Kalkan" and you cannot fault their tuna salad at lunchtime. So if you are looking for a great hotel with good food and fantastic staff the Meldi is the hotel for you.

from the taxi transfer included in the price everything about the Meldi is excellent. Lovely pool and surrounding areas including a bar with the staff who do everything possible to please without ever being in your face. Breakfast is again a pleasure with a great choice of food hot and cold. super restraunt with view over Kalkan and great food if you want to stay in in the evening . Reception will arrange a taxi or book a trio out for you tosave having to go through the agent in town and are always on hand if you have a query. would have been 5 star on everything but it would be good if the room wallswere painted a different colour to green .

I have been staying at The Meldi every year for the last 10 years and would not consider any other hotel in the area. The size of the hotel makes it personal and there is a pleasant friendly buzz amongst guests whilst they also appreciate others privacy. The staff are excellent, usually the same year after year so they get to know the guests well. Nothing is too much trouble, they helped us out getting some tailoring done on this visit. The location is ideal for strolling into town in the evening but do try the restaurant at the hotel as it is excellent and not over priced. Most guests at the hotel have, like me, been visiting for many years and some come 2 or 3 times a year, this is surely the highest recommendation a hotel can receive. Best for adults as the atmosphere is generally quiet.

We stayed at Meldi Hotel for 1 week in June. From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming and worked tirelessly to ensure we had a relaxing and comfortable stay. Fahti and his team spoilt our 14 month old daughter from the moment we arrived. So much so, that she was rather disappointed when she was not met with the same enthusiasm by our fellow travellers on the return flight and people we met in the street back home... The rooms are fairly basic, but clean and comfortable. The hotel and grounds are well maintained and if there was a local gardening competiotion they would probably win it every year! The pool is clean and a good size. Sunbeds and parasols are never in short supply. During our stay we had a heat wave (max. 44C in the shade) and we did not venture down to the local beaches or further affield. We were given frozen towels and our little daughter was treated to her own fan to keep her cool during her afternoon nap in the shade. There is also a shaded sitting area next to the pool with kelim carpets and cushions. The weekly BBQ on Wednesday night was absolutely superb. Make sure not to miss it! The owner of the hotel Sahap is very hands on with the running of the hotel and has build up a real friendship with the returning guests (which make up 80% of all guests). The centre of Kalkan is within easy reach, but you will definitely break a sweat on the walk back up (alternatively there are plenty taxis). When we ate out we went to Iso's Kitchen, Akadeniz, Seaport Restaurant and The Ivy. They were all good (my personal favorite being Iso's Kitchen for the atmosphere). I think it is hard to find a bad restaurant in Kalkan. The market on Thursdays is also worth a visit, for bargain souvenirs, etc. We will definitely be going back! A big thank you to Sahap, Fahti, Ali, Isa, Sersar, Selahattin, Hakki, Halil and all the others who work tirelessly behind the scenes.

We liked everything about the Meldi - its hillside setting and views, pool and poolside bar, the grounds and interior decor, our quiet room with safe box, the breakfasts and service generally. The hotel is smoothly managed by Fatih. His staff was accommodating. Apparently there is an 85% return rate and it is not difficult to see why. During our 3 night stay in May all the other guests were from the U.K – a unique experience for two North Americans from Vancouver, B.C. My advice regarding the Meldi would be to book early. Highly recommended.

Genuine turkey. I've been going to kalkan for 7 years now and I returned to the meldi this year as I enjoyed it so much last year. The staff are unbelievable. They will serve with a cheeky smile and if u want anything even not on the menu they will get it for u. The chef is actually unbelievable. I feel he is underused by every one ording burgers/meatballs etc but we asked if he could do a salted seabass as special (not on menu) and it was unbelievable. The owner shohap even took s out on his boat for free with wine and food was an amazing day. I really can't see myself every going anywhere else in kalkan. Ali and Fatiha are like my new family!!!
