“Our Perfect Wedding in Kalkan”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

In September 2012 Alan and I had our wedding held at the Meldi with 19 of our family. During the past 12 months the Meldi have been amazing helping to organise all the details along with our wedding planner Kalkan Concierge. It is not easy when you are thousands of miles away and the Meldi were fantastic, nothing was to much trouble for them and the day was just brilliant.

All our guests arrived on mass over the Monday and Tuesday and we had the best week ever, our family loved the Meldi, Fahti, Suleman, Ali, Serdar and all the other guys and I know I can speak for everyone in saying that they loved the holiday and will be back,

Our wedding day was perfect, the staff had been busy helping set everything up with the wedding planner and it looked fabulous. The surprise fireworks beautiful and the beautiful food and top class service just couldn’t be found here.
The whole day was brilliant from start to finish and we just wish we could do it all over again.

To anyone considering getting married in Kalkan I wouldn’t look past booking the Meldi, they are amazing hosts, the day was just fantastic, relaxing, laid back, hilarious, the perfect day.

Cant wait to see you guys next September and if lucky maybe a sneaky week in May.

Love you all

Sarah and Alan xxxx

we returned to the meldi for our fourth visit and once again were greeted as long lost friends. Halil on reception is a great guy nothing is too much trouble for him and always smiling.Fatih and his team were also on the ball seeing to everyones needs and i can say they are quite some needs from some of the guests. it was also nice to see quite a few guests we have come to know over our return visits. many thanks to shalap for his kindness and generosity.
heres to next years visit.

Just returned from another great week at the Meldi. A couple of new members of staff present this time but we found them to be just as nice and friendly as the old school. This was our third stay at the Meldi and whilst we fully understand why people keep coming back one criticism we have is not with the hotel but the large groups of guests which at times can number up to 10 persons. What these guests forget is that not everyone staying there wants to hear the noisy babble such a large group can make plus of course the amount of tables or sun beds they require. Whilst it may be considered nice for friends or family members to holiday together they should have due respect for other guests. Another disappointing habit we found this year is people coming down to the pool and putting towels on certain sun beds and then returning to their room. I think that is more acceptable to come down put your things on a sun bed and then at least have breakfast and then go to the pool. Despite these negative points we have booked for next year. Did hear that it seems a lot of people booked rooms this year and then did not use them. Deposits may be on their way.

just returned after 14 nights, yes the curtains are a little narrow but they do cover the window, yes lots of people return year after year but that's because the hotel is so nice. Yes the rooms are fairly basic, but the are really clean and contain everything you need, after all you only need them to change and sleep in. Sheets changed every 2 days ,yes the corner showers are a little tight but if you don't look for issue you don't find them. The staff are brilliant and look after you every need. The restauraurant has some super food and absolutely stunning views.Lovely pool and great prices even including the pick up and return to Dalaman for over 10 night holidays.
Overall a lovely 3 star hotel and 5 star service

Returned last week from 12 nights at the Meldi. Kalkan is a fabulous place but the Meldi is not. My visit started badly when as one of only one guest arriving that night, the night watchman was not expecting me!!
Although the rooms are basic, they are relatively clean. However, it would also have been nice to have curtains that fitted and covered the windows, a shower that one can actually wash in (limited hot water, very limited pressure and as a corner cubicle, very limited space), lights that worked and an air conditioner that cooled the room. Being 6'1" meant that I could not shave or brush my hair without stooping as the mirrors are set so low.
Breakfast was adequate, although after 3 days of the same it became rather boring.
Beach towels are provided but if after 2 or 3 days of use you want a clean one, be prepared to pay for it!! There are also charges for the 'complimentary' tea & coffee sachets left in the room.
This hotel has been going for over 20 years and the owner seems to rely on repeat business from many years ago rather than trying to ensure that every guest is welcomed and encouraged to become another repeat customer.
Although this was a poor experience, Kalkan is lovely, Patara Beach is stunning and the many restaurants in Kalkan will ensure that you eat well. Just find another hotel!!

Room Tip: Find another hotel.

This is a lovely little 3 star hotel, a great budget find in the wonderful resort town of Kalkan. Rooms are small and basic, but have everything you need and are spotlessly clean and come with lovely little balconies. There is no tv in the room, but there is a safe box and a kettle. The hotel is within walking distance to all the best restaurants and at least two beaches.
Most of the guests there are loyal repeat customers, mostly British.
The breakfast is basic, but offers eggs made to order. It is a shame they don’t add more fresh fruit as the healthy options are really limited. Presentation of the buffet could easily be improved, as well as the quality of the food provided, perhaps with some fresh baked bread and cake. The hotel does not allow guests to bring food or drink into the room.
Also, the hotel should do a better job of informing customers that, while beach towels are provided for free, every time you ask to change the beach towels for clean ones there is a fee that is tacked onto your bill. Furthermore, the tea, coffee and bottle of water that is provided daily in your room are NOT complimentary. This was never made clear to us from the beginning and lead to an awkward moment when the bill was presented.
The front desk staff, Ozge and Halil are exceptional and can’t do enough for you.

We spent 4 nights at the Meldi in Mid Aug , what a wonderful hotel , its a 3 star hotel with 5 star service , we wished we could have stayed longer . A traditional hotel with excellent family values , the staff are exceptional and could not do enough to make our stay more comfortable .
The rooms are traditional style and clean , not modern (this is not the Hyatt) but charming .
Good food , breakfast was good and the pool bar snacks served all day are great and excellent value.
We will definately return when we get the chance , can highly recommend this hotel if you want a to sample great Turkish hospitality .
