“October 2012 visit”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

The one thing about this hotel that nobody mentions is that it is on a main road.
The noise from cars, scooters and feral dogs is incessant 24 hours per day.
Do not have a room at the front of the hotel.
Sitting on the balcony is not pleasant despite the views.

Room Tip: choose room at new back section for less noise

We stayed for a week at the Oasis, we decided to upgrade to a deluxe room which was at the back of the hotel and glad we did as it was very spacious and had a very large balcony with table & Chairs and we could sit out and look over the sea (The view was slightly Obscured by the block in front). We did debate to upgrade further to the room with a private pool but on arrival we are glad we didn't as our balcony bent round the side of the hotel and overlooked the 'private' pool below. Our room was clean and the bath room was a decent size. We had breakfast on the terraced by the outside pool, there was plenty of options for breakfast (both hot and cold) and all of it tasted lovely. The hotel itself is a short walk from the town centre and about a ten minute walk down to the harbour (uphill on the way back but you can get a cab up the hill if need be), we didn't have any issue with the noise from the road outside but we were in the block at the back. We ate in the hotel restaurant once, the food was amazing and worth a visit but like other reviews the restaurant did lack ambience, it does have potential but seems to lack interest from the management. There is a lovely area to lounge around on during the day (with very comfortable sunbeds!) with a pool side bar, this wasn't really used - again the potential is there. We also had a turkish bath at the hotel which was good and worth a try if you have time. We did not leave until 6pm on the last day, check out is at noon and we did enquire about a late check out but this would cost 80 TL, instead they offered for us to store our bags in reception and use of the spa facilities (shower, hair dryers etc) which we did without any problems.

Room Tip: try to get a room at the back of the hotel. You could be overlooked (when you are on your outside a...

Have just returned from two super weeks at the Oasis. Isa made us most welcome on arrival and showed us all round the hotel. Unfortunately he left the next day. The hotel is in an excellent location within a 5 minute walk of the main town. The new roof top restaurant is fantastic but as mentioned by other members does rather lack atmosphere. It has a spectacular view and the food was excellent. We actually ate there three times and would say it beat all other restaurants -this including Sade our second favorite.
We spent many happy days at the Yali Beach Club which is also part of the same group and therefore free to residents.
Breakfast amongst the olive trees with a wonderful view in the warm sunshine was memorable and we would certainly return to the Oasis again.
Perhaps the only observation is that whilst the staff are all very friendly and helpful there seems to be a lack of managerial control which showed in several areas.

First vsit to this hotel .With experience of the Asfiya and Lykia - both in the same group and top notch - expectations were high following refurbishment and extention to what is still a fairly new hotel.
We stayed at the front of the hotel on the third floor. De luxe suite, smallish but super views and not troubled by noise.Enjoyed a pre prandial G&T on the balcony most evennings. Just about big enough but lacked a table to put the drinks on. .

The staff were always a delight. Breakfast a veritable feast, surpassed only by the food and sevice in the rooftop resturant. Honorable mention here to Mendaries brought down from the Asfiya who clearly had raised standards and was always on hand to help. The same praise is due to Louise from Discerning Collection and this company overall.

Four stars is about right, even generous in total. Disapointing in that it should and could have been five. The much praised resturant scored 10 plus for food but unless full had as much atmosphere as a works canteen. The bar - usually a gathering point for guests before heading into town or dare I say dining in the resturant - was six floors, two elivator rides and a short walk from reception. Therefore pooly attended. Frequently it was lacking a barman ( sorry, person). There was a small poolside bar during the day but usually closed in the evenings. As a selfsufficient sort of bloke I secured two G&T's most evennings. Most guests seemed to go staight into Kallkan.

Super delux inhouse Spar, great. Only not great. Always seemed deserted and on two visits discarded towells, empty water bottles and general bits and pieces were clearly there from the previous day. Or maybe the day before that. One guest said they had been to the Lykia Spar because " this one doesn't seem to be working"

The location is great, the staff are brilliant and this hotel should be at least as good as the others in this group. Unfortunately it isn't .We will come back, definitely. Next year this could easily be a 5 star hotel. Fingers crossed.

Room Tip: New part which includes Bar and Resturant is of a high standard. Unfortunately lower rooms have view...

We stayed at the Oasis for 2 nights in September after visiting Kas and before heading to Dalyan. We were in the refurbished building to the front of the property with great views over the sea. There was some road noise but as we live in Edinburgh, didn't bother us at all.

Breakfast was fantastic. Great choice of fresh fruits with yoghurt, honey, scrambled eggs, cereal. Always something hot and they will cook specific type of egg at no extra charge.

Receptionist who greeted us very helpful. We arrived earlier than check-in and she made sure the cleaners did our room quickly and we were given a welcome drink at the pool/breakfast area while the room was being cleaned. Great pool area.

We usually stay in the Samira in the centre so not much further away. We do prefer smaller hotels so the Oasis was ideal. We tend to visit Kalkan quite often so next time we will go back to the Oasis with no hesitation.

This hotel has been refurbished since some of the older reviews and there is a new 'annexe' with a rooftop restaurant. It is part of the same group as the Asfiya and the Likya
THE GOOD:
Location - situated between Kalkan centre with its restaurants, bars, harbour etc and the Yali beach club (free to hotel guests)
Breakfasts - good selection of food from yogurts and fruit to eggs cooked to order, though I would have like the option of freshly pressed orange and turkish bread
Food at the rooftop restaurant - quality and presentation were terrific and not more expensive than less sophisticated options in other restaurants. Great view too.
THE BAD
Street noise - the hotel is on a busy road. Double glazing means it is not a problem in the rooms but it is quite noticeable in the outdoor areas
Ambiance. The hotel in general lacked ambiance and this was particularly the case in the rooftop restaurant. As mentioned above the food was outstanding, but decor, music, lighting etc could have added so much more
THE UGLY
My room (suite) 101 was described by the holiday company as 'overlooking adjoining buildings' Fair enough i booked late and it was the last room left. However it didn't 'overlook' anything - it just faced a blank wall. If I went out onto the balcony and looked to the side between the buildings, I could see part of the town and the mountain beyond. The only sun it got was at midday - which at 32 degrees was not the time to be sitting out.

So overall, it depends what you are looking for. if you want a hotel as a base for enjoying Kalkan, excursions etc, then it is worth considering. My room was spacious, clean and air conditioned. But if you want to enjoy hotel facilities and spend a lot of time there then there are better places

Ten years ago my wife and I stayed at the Asifa Hotel in Kalkan, this time (Sept '12) we stayed at the Oasis. The Oasis is 'Boutique' with only 20 something rooms but even though the Hotel was full, it didn't seem crowded. The Staff were exceptionally good, very friendly and helpful.

The Hotel is split into two buildings and has a new side (only opened in 2012) and a slightly older side. We stayed in the original building and the room and building as a whole was clean and well maintained. There idea of a suite and mine may vary a little but the room was comfortable. Nice bathroom, good bed and air con (needed in the Kalkan heat)

Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of fruit, cereal and hot food on the buffet and other choices cooked freshly to order such as omelette and pancakes etc. The roof terrace restaurant looks lovely but suffers from being empty as most people walk down to the main town. By all accounts the food there is of a high standard as well.

I would definitely stay here again if I returned to Kalkan.

The Hotel also has a Hamman onsite, two pools and free access to the Yali beach club.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have good views, if a little more road noise.
