My partner and I have just returned, we arrived at the Dalaman hotel and as you exit the hotel, look in the car park for black Mercedes people carriers, and you can't go wrong, the transfer is around 2 hours, which after a nearly 4 hour trip, is just a pain, but when you arrive, the welcome by the staff more than takes the pain away.
We booked very last minute and had the Gulbahar suite, it is spacious, very comfortable, but we really wish we had had the pool attached, our pool was up the track about 200 metres away. It's lovely having your own pool, and there is a butler service ....... But it's not the same.
The Cabanas are very comfortable, daybed, sun loungers, fridge with lots of cold drinks, and a fan, we had incredible temperatures whilst we were there, so we really only used the pool area.
To get to the local village, there is a shuttle that leaves at 7pm and collects you at 10.30pm, taxis are only 12 tl (£4) so you can always stay later, I personally wouldn't walk the track from the village to the hotel, it wasn't a safety issue, it is very dusty and rocky and the lighting in places is non existent.
The shops are open late and there are approx 153 restaurants to choose from. There are steep hills, so ladies, seriously I recommend no heels or wedges, flats, flats, flats. Kalkan has lots of watch, bags and silver shops too.
My partner and I found a little gem of a restaurant, it's up the steep hill, the one that runs up from the middle of the harbour, just at the top on the right, it's called Kalkamaki, service, food, price, fabulous!!! I will return especially to eat there, the Liver starter was so delicious.
For the last 3 days of our holiday, we were transferred to the Likya Pavillion ........ See separate review.
If you can get one of the suites with he pool directly attached to your room, then I would do that, the breakfast is adequate, but could be improved.
