Myself and my partner stayed at the Nur Apartments: http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/turkeyb/TK383.htm as we were going to a wedding in Kalkan. Les was very helpful over email and arranged transfers etc. Fiona & Martyn who own the other apartments greeted us and were also very helpful when there.

The apartments themselves are very clean and well looked after. Had everything we needed. The pool (for the apartments) was lovely and as it was out of season there was only one other couple using the pool. The location was perfect and just a few minutes walk from the old town, but cafe's on the doorstep for lunch etc.

Couldnt have asked for anything better and would definately recomment.

Nur Hotel, Kalkan
We stayed at Nur Hotel just one night; the last night of our trip, which we spent near Kalkan but has no bus station for getting back conveniently towards Dalaman airport; whereas Nur Hotel is near Kalkan bus station and just a walk down to main Kalkan town etc (had stayed before for same reason).
We made the booking on an outing to Kalkan earlier in the week and confirmed by phone from our pension accom. We were surprised and pleased at the standard and spaciousness of the accommodation we were allocated for a very reasonable price. All nice and clean with unusual, interesting prints on walls, ‘Art Nouveau’ bedhead, and balconies.
Also the included breakfast, standard ‘Turkish breakfast’ omelette, cheese, cold meat, olives, bread ............was self-service and breakfast terrace had good view over Kalkan.
Main attraction for us was the pool – large enough to swim lengths and spend time in,( not just a goldfish bowl! )
The staff were smiley and helpful and chatted with guests; another couple at the pool said they now came just to this hotel for preference.
One thing tho – maybe relates to the pizza house / macdonalds -y external transformation in a previous review? - but the small poolside bar had framed adverts for beer, glass of wine, raki, showing TLs, and we decided to order 2 glasses of white wine. The bartenders produced a bottle of white wine from the fridge with very little left, and poured it into a glass which they put on the counter, while one bartender disappeared...after a few minutes we joked that he was going to the supermarket, and were answered smilingly that he was. It’s about 3/4 mins walk each way and you have to queue, so we asked for the glass on the counter to be put back in the fridge. The other bartender came back after a while with just one bottle, nice and lukewarm of course, and they filled another glass.
I tried to ask why they didn’t get more than one bottle? Since the fridge was stacked up with Efes beer. They said because nobody drank wine. I pointed out that we did, and they smilingly agreed, and we all left it at that.
So, on our way back from down the hill later on, we got wine from the supermarket to have by the pool (poured it into an empty water bottle for politeness). Cheaper and just as convenient for us anyway, and less profits for the pizza/macdonalds bunch. ... (didn’t buy any pizzas either, had no intention to )
Anyway, good hotel overall, enjoyed our stay, would go back, especially for the pool, the manager and his staff and the relaxed ambience they created.

In June 2012, we stayed at the privately owned apartments behind the Nur Hotel for the third time, and all that we love about the apartments still holds true - nice and airy, very good value for money, close to the village centre, great restaurants, supermarkets, banks, taxis etc, it is very quiet, and there is a lovely large pool with personal sunbeds. So we would return BUT the hotel itself has changed big style!!
The front of the hotel facing the road is now a pizza restaurant, which in itself is not a problem for the apartments behind. However, the new bar staff prioritise the pizza business. The evening gatherings of residents and apartment guests at the pool bar have stopped, as have the weekly music events (as the hotel lounge is now a pizza restaurant!). Baris no longer takes any interest in the apartment guests and he does not organise boat trips as before.
So, we still love Kalkan and we still love these apartments, but some of the other attractions relating to the hotel have gone......forever it seems.......

Room Tip: Search Kalkansbest.com or Kalkansecrets.com for apartment info and availabiltiy

Reviews for this hotel can be confusing. There is an hotel with an apartment complex behind it, which appears to be more modern and has decent facilities and its own pool. The hotel itself was built about 17 years ago, and shows its age. We were allocated a suite, which comprised 2 rooms with 2 ensuite bathrooms. The bathrooms were appalling, black mould everywhere, only half a shower door in one of the showers, light bulbs missing, water not draining away and just generally dirty. Floors dirty, threadbare rugs, one room full of an old dirty decrepit suite, broken light switch on balcony making it unusable at night. Bedlinen never changed, towels only once. Hotel located right on main road from Kalkan, so continuous noise until early in the morning. AC's cost extra £20 for week. TV non operational. Security abysmal with peoples passports and room keys left unattended in Reception, on desk. Pool was OK and fridge in room, the only redeeming features. Would certainly never consider staying here again, at any price.

Room Tip: Although the management claim that rooms have been renovated, their bathrooms have not. A coat of paint does not constitute renovation, the same mouldy bathrooms are still there!.
