Kuru's Place is a family-owned and run restaurant set in a garden with overhanging grape vines and a lovely view. The food is delicious and authentic - they use all fresh ingredients - and the family who cook and serve you are incredibly friendly and helpful. We loved going there, will definitely go back and would recommend it to anyone. There are hundreds of restaurants in Kalkan but Kurus is our favourite!

Kuru and family operate a delightful porch-style restaurant under the cool protection of ripening grapes and swirling vines. Seated at cheerful tables on comfy pillowed chairs or cross- legged on tapestry- draped divan tables, any meal is enhanced!!! The refreshing breezes blow away any heated stress of the day as one peruses the generous menu. As the sun begins to set and the mosaic lamps begin to glow below the burgeoning clusters of grapes, discuss the locally sourced offerings on Kuru's wine list. Turkish mezes are fresh and delicious as are the variety of village breads and salads. You won't go wrong or home hungry with anything offered, but the Turkish MANTİ just can't be beat. An Anatolian specialty reminiscent of mini- tortellinis, consisting of delicately crimped pasta packages generally filled with some form of a savory meat sauté. Hugged in the pale arms of a garlicky yogurt sauce, this dish is truly one for an angel!!
Be sure to look Kuru's flowered pavilion up when in "greater metro"Kalkan. You must turn AWAY from the shield- shaped town clinging to the mountainside, keeping the entrance to Patara Prince on your right, continue up the road to this culinary oasis whose lights you'll see ahead on your left. Kuru also offers 2-hour Turkish cooking classes in his ample kitchen and is planning to extend the tantalizing offerings in near future.

This restaurant had been recommended to us but we didn't visit it till our last day because it was a little out of the tourist hotspots . We wish we had come earlier!
The food was freshly cooked . I had kofte in yoghurt , my daughter had the Turkish ravioli. We all had halva for pudding. The menu is deliberately kept simple to ensure the quality of the food and it was one of the best meals we have eaten in Turkey. The welcome was warm and genuine. The owner had been involved on a cooking class that morning and went out of his way to apologise for not having greeted us himself on arrival. Those who had been doing the cooking class looked v happy as well! Definitely worth a visit!

Our party of four adults stayed four nights in Kalkan and dined twice at Kuru's Place just outside of that city. We highly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere was very pleasant, the food excellent and the cost of it reasonable. It was traditional Turkish cuisine. We felt very welcomed by the owners. It IS a ~7-10 minute drive outside of town. We had a car but if you don't have one, this restaurant provides a free shuttle.
