Ada / Island is a very genuine little restaurant. Started by father now dead and worked by mother and son, Mustafa. As with all fish restaurants as to see the fish and firmly establish what you will be charged.
We chose a 1 kg. sea bream for 75 Turkish Lira and had fries a big salad, bread and 2 EFES beers. The bill came up and it was 79 Turkish Lira. the equivalent of £26.33p. My wife couldn't finish her half of the fish but I helped her out.
There was someone complaining but I think he mistook the price for 1 fish as the price for 2.
Its in a great location with some antiquities behind and a rocky walk down to the shore.

Word of advice when you eat here..make sure you know the menu prices before you order something.
We got a shocker when we saw the bill for our order for 2 fishes and beer.I won't comment on the food as everyone has different tastes.We could have had a day boat trip for two including lunch and dinner at a harbour restaurant with desert and spare change to buy a hat with what the guy there charged us. Lost our custom for sure.

We came here because of the great reviews on Tripadvisor.
The owner is very nice, and the service is excellent.
The simple fact is : its over priced.
The food is just Ok.
Neither of us would come back.
We both felt ripped off, and there are far better places to go in Kalkan.

We’d popped into this place for a drink on our last visit to Kalkan in 2011 so thought we’d revisit specifically to see whether the owner had indeed carried out his grand plans. He hadn’t but it was the same welcoming place it was back then with the same fantastic views. This isn’t in Kalkan but isn’t too far away. It’s located on a right-hand corner just after Kaputas Plaji and on the way to Kas. Don’t be put off by the appearance (part shack, part home) as this is a welcoming place with great food. So we popped in for some liquid refreshment after bathing at Kaputas Plaji in the morning. We chose an Efes and glass of rose. Before too long we decided to have a bite to eat. No menu, just ask the owner what’s on offer. Fish! His brother is a fisherman and so the fish is as fresh as can be! The owner brings out a long bowl with fish available. He had at least 6 types – rock fish (a flat fish), sea bream, sea bass and others. We chose a good-sized sea bass to share with chips, salad and bread. The portions were huge, fresh and tasty. No frozen chips here, just the fresh homemade type. With another round of drinks the bill came to around 90 TRY, dearer than I expected (the fish is by weight) BUT it was delicious and a lovely end to a mornings sunbathing. Recommended.

Ada restaurant itself is a very simple place, part family home, part, well, shack – it looks as if you're pulling into an old petrol station on the seashore when the lift they arrange arrives. Do persist, though, because, as you enter, you won't fail to be struck by the amazing view out across the sea; and, in due course, the amazing view of the fish from which you'll be selecting your meal! Lovely, humble, atmospheric venue, our fellow-diners consisting of an English family on what they said was a regular "must do" part of their Kalkan holidays, along with a table full of Turkish people. I want to say Ada is "all about the food," of course – which it is; but the atmosphere is unique as well.

As for that food... well, this is freshly caught ocean fish, prepared by those who know it better than anyone else, the people who went out and caught it; and cooked to absolute, simple perfection by this very hospitable family, mama herself at the grill. Out on the pebbly shore, you can watch the chickens climbing up to roost in their brilliantly improved "nest": a tree bent horizontally and anchored so that the birds can stroll into the formerly upper branches and snuggle into an extremely comfy bed – all this against a sublime sunset if you time it right. Indeed, the words "simple," "brilliant," "family" and "perfect" are all very relevant terms as you embark on your "fish supper": which I can confidently predict will be the finest you've ever eaten!

First, choose your drinks: either an excellent dry white or, even better, some raki. Then choose your fish from the catch that will be brought for inspection, along with recommendations I highly recommend you take (we chose bream, mackerel, ventured to include a garfish – which turned out to be exquisite – plus what I think was a "lamp-fish" (possibly "lamb-fish") suggested by our host and probably the best of an already best-in-class assortment).

Sit back, enjoy the unique vibe – and await that food... To begin with, the calamari starter is, utterly and absolutely, the best anywhere. Lightly textured squid in the crispest, melt-in-the-mouth batter – wonderful! Then you'll be brought a scrumptious salad, bread; along with a plate of the hottest, tastiest chips imaginable. And then – and then... the fish arrives! Almost indescribably beautiful food, cooked to perfection and speaking for itself, no sauces or embellishments other than fresh lemon to squeeze. The best ingredients imaginable, cooked with the expertise of generations. Superlative in every way.

Two quick notes. Bear in mind that you'll pay for the fish by weight – just like you would in a great market (if you could find one that did the produce this fresh); only they'll cook it for you, too, and better than you or anyone else ever could. So don't expect a "cheap" meal in that sense. But, please, do the math – if you talk "value for money" in relation to the experience, the flavours – well, this is (if you'll pardon the pun) off the scale in those terms. More than a fair deal for the chance to eat this way.

Also, don't confuse this with Adam's restaurant, on the same road a bit nearer to Kalkan. That looks like a more refined venue and I'm sure the food is good, too. But carry on past Adams and you will find this place – which all of our party of four have no hesitation in declaring the source of the best fish any of us have ever eaten. Chok guzel!
