We had our first and last nights meals here as our first meal was soooo good. Chicken Satay for starter was delicious, Marble steak my husband had comes where they sear it on a hot marble, flambe it with brandy and leave you to cook it yourself on the hot marble, came with 4 different sauces and said it was the best steak he had ever had and had to have it on our second visit too! Steaks are always good in Kalkan but this was exceptional. I had the steak with mushroom sauce and was also excellent. Really nice atmosphere as you are high up on a roof top terrace overlooking all the other restaurants and the busy streets below, very romantic feel as we had balcony table. The guy that makes your reservation is also very friendly and not pushy at all.

My husband and friends have just returned from our 2nd holiday in Kalkan and ended up going back to Gourmet 3 times. I think what we enjoyed was good service and the fact that they remembered our names when we returned, extremely tasty traditional meals the Persian chicken being my favourite. I just wish I could find a recipe to duplicate it at home. We have never ordered a starter as the chef always sends out a vegetarian sushi beautifully presented but perhaps could be more traditional. I would also suggest that compared to other restaurants they would benefit from offering something at the end. But we were unable to fault the quality and presentation of the meals - looking forward to next year.

Went back to Kalkan with a group of friends and took them to Gourmet and they were all blown away by the quality of the food - would reccommend the White fish in lime & coriander

Naming something 'Gourmet' is asking for trouble, particularly if you're of an age with fond memories of watching the Fawlty Towers gourmet evening episode. Thankfully trifle masquerading as duck didn't figure on the menu and the chef seemed to be in a relatively good mood although keen to leave after serving just us, the single table occupied for the lunchtime service. In fact, last time we stayed in Kalkan, Gourmet was actually known as Coast which seems to have kept its name but moved to the waterfront. Curiously, the menu has remained largely the same, with a mix of unusual 'Persian' dishes (e.g. pomegranate and walnuts with meat) and more mainstream mediterranean food. We shared starters of a mixed mezze and grilled halloumi with beetroot on rocket and other green leaves. Portion sizes were small but the mezze dishes were superb and also ingeniously presented in large, individual spoons on a wooden board. Desserts of chocolate 'avalanche' (almost a chocolate fondant but not quite) and a 'very berry mess' (which made the mistake of substituting defrosted strawberries for fresh raspberries) weren't quite as good but the presentation was again top-notch. The best table for lunch is on a small balcony overlooking the street; otherwise it seems that sitting on the terrace with the sun glaring down is the only option, which may explain why it's so quiet at lunchtime.

Just returned from Kalkan and ate twice at the Gourmet Terrace. As always the food was excellent and the service exemplary. The standards of retaurants here is so high that every year these guys seem to raise their game. I can thoroughly recommend the balsamic steak - amazing !
