Owner description: The best-known attraction among the ruins of Aspendos is the great theater, an amazingly well preserved vestige of Roman architecture that may be as impressive as Rome's own Colosseum.

Went on a Thomas Cook trip and would recommend. Just astounding the work involved and it is best preserved Roman theatre. Would have loved to have gone to a production here because great venue.

Even if your not an history enthusiast, you will be amazed and facinated by this attraction. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the Alanya area, or there abouts. If you are a history buff, you will soak in the atmosphere and imagine what a site it must have been in it's original state.

Amazing theatre, steep climb to the top, but amazing views from there! Our guide told us the theatre is still used now in the summer time!

What I especially like about Aspendos, which does indeed have one of the best preserved Roman theaters of ancient times, is that you can explore the entire structure from the bottom to the top. The entire complex is huge and includes other ruins and an aqueduct. Well worth a visit for history fans.

The drive from Antalya proper, if you choose to drive, is not difficult. Around 45 minutes.

Would recommend planning half a day if you want to wander around the entire site.

In Aspendose two grandiose ancient constructions – an amphitheater and an aqueduct have well remained. Theater Aspendosa has left very pleasant memoirs, especially because we have got on an opera "Aida". Theater Aspendosa has been constructed in II AD by the Greek architect Zenon. In diameter it more than 90 meters also contain about 10000 spectators. Annually in the middle of June passes opera and ballet Festival. In the Festival program take part both Turkish, and the Russian and foreign actors. I in general very much like to visit the Roman Collosseo and amphitheaters (Collosseo in Rome, Amphitheather of El Jem, Tunesien and Aspendos Theater the most delightful). Acoustic possibilities of ancient Roman theater allow actors to act without microphones and amplifiers. In hotel it is better to take with yourself a small pillow from an armchair if you go on an opera or ballet during festival. In an interval it is very pleasant to take a walk on an amphitheater. Steps high and abrupt, be very accurate, when will go down.
