Titanic Beach Lara Hotel
Ranked #18 of 230 Hotels in Antalya
Reviewed October 18, 2010

Just got back from 2 weeks at the Titanic (2 Adults + Child) having previously stayed at the Royal Wings, Delphin Palace and Delphin Diva hotels, all just a few hundred metres up the beach.

You will generally pay a little more for the Royal Wings and the Delphin Hotels and on arrival it’s somewhat difficult to see why. The Titanic is just as impressive visually, has modern clean rooms, an impressive reception/lobby area and wonderful spacious pools/grounds. However after two weeks it becomes fairly obvious why these other hotels can justify their price premium and why all three currently sit in the top five Lara Beach hotels according to Trip Advisor (at the time of writing Titanic is 14th).

Firstly the buffet restaurant…although the food is as good as the other hotels buffet offerings the room layout is extremely poor and makes the whole dining experience uncomfortable. You have a situation where guests line up outside the restaurant waiting for the 7pm opening time (way too late for those with young families but this is the norm in Turkey) and then almost run to get to the food first, often before securing a table, in order to avoid having to queue for 10-15 minutes as you food steadily goes cold. This problem could easily be rectified by a simple redesign of the restaurant. I would strongly suggest Titanic management take a look at how other hotels on the strip have got around this problem and make some urgent changes…currently not good and needs sorting.

The alternative is to pay a few extra £/€ and dine in one of the 3 a-la-cart restaurants which were vastly superior and well worth the extra minimal outlay … myself, partner and 4 year old son dined at the a-la-carts on four separate occasions and the total bill came to under £50! (under 6’s are free, other Children only €5). I would say that the Titanic’s a-la-cart restaurants were certainly equal in quality to those of the other hotels we’ve visited in Lara…its just a shame so few people were prepared to pay that little extra to experience them, mind you it was Scottish Half-Term when we visited (sorry…bad joke!)

When it comes to the pool area, this is where the Titanic scores a major own goal. It has the best design/layout of all the hotel pools/aqua parks on Lara Beach which we’ve visited. Unfortunately somebody has decided to save a few quid by turning the heating off so they are almost empty due to the cold. With a couple of days to go of our holiday there must have been so many complaints that management decided to start heating one of the smaller pools and this became extremely popular. There is a sign up by the towell hut saying the pool temperature had been checked on the 1st October and the temperature was 29deg…I can only assume on the 2nd October they turned the heating off! ….during our visit the sea temperature was 26deg (FACT) and was way way warmer than the pools. As a result most people headed to the sea if they fancied a swim. We visited the Royal Wings last year during the exact same 2 weeks in October and their pools were perfectly warm….come on Titanic….don’t be cheap…turn the heating up!

The other area where Titanic doesn’t compare well with the Delphin Hotels and Royal Wings is service and availability. On quite a few occasions drink/snack bars were closed when they should have been open…I think we tried the Patisserie on 5 or 6 occassions and every time it was closed (even though it should have been open). There was also one day when the beach bar didn’t open so if you wanted a drink you had to walk all the way back to the hotel…again not good. I know this sounds petty but if other hotels can do it why not Titanic?

Please don’t get me wrong…I know this review sounds really negative but if you’ve already booked the Titanic and have never visited other Lara Beach Hotels before (and therefore have nothing to compare with) then I’m sure you will have a fantastic time….even though its not the best hotel in the area The Titanic still blows away any other Medittaranean hotel I’ve stopped at outside Turkey. However if you’ve yet to book I would strongly recommend you pay that little bit extra and go for one of the Delphin hotels or perhaps the Royal Wings… it is no coincidence that these 3 hotels are near the top of the Trip Advisor ratings…. Ultimately YGWYPF (you get what you pay for).

we went on holiday 10/10/10 until 18/10/10 and it was our first time in turkley and did not know wot to expect. on arrival it was 4am and we were v tired. checked in and the staqff took our cases and put them onto a golf cart. no idea where we were going we got on. we went to the room which was at the side of the hotel as we had booked a family room and thought we would be in the main hotel...no. we were next to the main pool but to get to the restraunt we had to go round the pool and in that way. we asked for a pool view and a beach view got the pool not the beach but were not that bothered about that. the big issue we ahd was the large number of ferral cats going about even in the restraunt that is not hygienic. we complained but were told people feed them. I know in other hotels there are similar issues but signs up not to feed them but wen u r weatin ur dinner u do not want a cat u dont know around ur feet or 2 fighting under your table. dont get me wrong the staff were lovely and could do so much for you and the hotel was spotless. the entertainment was dire. with 2 teenagers the beach on hand was great but the entertainment was not suited for them suited more for younger families.

I dont think we will go back there but would if it were just us as a couple.

def have the turkish bath and the spa facilities were great

i stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks with my husband and 2 children aged 8 and 5.I found this hotel a really nice and firiendly hotel the staff were all friendly and couldnt do enough for you. the pools were always clean however very cold but that didnt bother my 2 children. The food was good plenty to choose from in the restaurant and the 3 snack bars, there was also a very good selection of drinks to choose from. The entertainment wasnt very good but it was coming to the end of the season but during the day there was always activities to do with the staff darts archery etc. I would only rate this hotel a 4 star not a 5 the beds werent very comfortable for a 5 star hotel. Dont be conned into the camel rides at the bazzar market when it visits the hotel they sat my husband and 5 year son on the camels for a photo and before they knew it they were gettin a ride when they got off they wanted 20 euros 10 each for the ride.Overall i enjoyed this holiday and would reccomend it for familys

my second trip to turkey , the 1st being long time ago , my thoughts then were id never return!!!
but now with family decided to give it another go, was drawn to the hotel titanic because of its facillities , rating and apeall for children (my daughter being 3).
i have to say we had i fantastic time , great hotel , good food with plenty of choice.
the queing in the main resteraunt was my only moan by the end of our time there. (NOT EVERY 1 QUES THOUGH!)
Entertainment was good and the childrens club very good. All the staff were very plesent and made real fuss of the children .

if your looking to get out now and again theres nothing really outside but for a few shops, though is a market in lara every sat, other than that you would have to get in a taxi to antalaya.

theres was always somthing goin on either volley ball , shooting, archary etc.
Best thing i can say my daughter loved it , and if shes happy im happy!!

i have noticed people moan about noise at nite , well all i can say is yr on hols it aint that bad really!!
and people from different countries, well again i didnt find this a problem , yes tere were some rude people but i think you get them where ever you go, english people aswell, so you just have to ignore them!!

sum it all up fantastic place fantastic hotel. just 1 more thing its not as cheap as people think because not in euro .
IM SURE YOU WILL LOVE IT TO!

We stayed for 10 days for our honeymoon, travelling with our 2 year old son. At time of booking we requested a lower floor room with a nice view. We were given a room very high up with a view of a road. We enquired as to whether we could be moved and the next day we were moved to a lower room (still unnervingly high with a curious 2 year old!) with a seaview and they had also put in our room a lovely heart-shaped cushion, bottle of sparkilng wine, fruit and cakes which was really nice. A very nice man came and topped up our mini bar everyday with juice, water etc. The hotel had good points and bad points - it was supposed to air conditioned but wasn't. Our son became quite ill with a heat rash because the rooms were so so hot day and night and non of us slept very well. We had to go and seek medical advice and were told it was due to the heat and my son was prescribed medication for heat rash etc.) We explained this to the hotel and to the rep (Who was very helpful) and reception told us that it was not hot enough to turn the air con on as it would be too cold for Russian & Turkish guests! When our rep heard this she was very annoyed and went to see the hotel manager - he also said the same but said they would try and get a fan for our room, this went on for a number of days but no fan ever arrived. We continued to complain as it was so hot and uncomfortable - eventually after a lot of pressure from our rep they said they would turn the air con on for 2 hours in the day time and 2 at night - these were times when the'canteen' was open for mealtimes so most people were not in their rooms to use it anyway.
Another danger we had in the hotel was the fact that the doors cannot be locked from the inside of your room - this meant our son could just open the door himself and let himself out - same goes for the balcony door too - cannot be locked from the inside. We could not relax at all in room because of this and were quite worried at night - anyone who's got a toddler of a similar age will understand where I'm coming from. The restaurant was very ' canteen' style' - noisey, very busy, long ques for food, you had to order your drink from a waiter - your drink would arrive and on several ocasions you would come back to the table and the drinks would be cleared away!! Food was very average - nothing special. We also had very unfortunate incident in one on the outdoor eating areas that our son tipped off the back of a chair and landed on his nose / head, we rushed him to the hotel doctor who told us to get in a taxi and go to the local hospital with our credit card - thats a whole other long story which I won't go into but our little boy was fine - just a bit bruised and sore (boys will be boys - and not the hotel's fault at all..) All in all we couldn't wait to get home and wished we hadn't had gone. I'm sure other people will have a great time at this hotel but it was just not suitable for us at this time with a young child. I must say though that all staff were very friendly and very pleasant, especially the waiters who always made a big fuss of our son! I would also recommend the photogrpher that took pictures of us at the hotel - we've got some wonderful photographs.

We have just spent a fantastic week at the Titanic Hotel. Our stay started on the 21 September till the 28th and o wot a stay it was.
First impression wow, checked in staff very helpful and friendly paid 10tlr per person per towel which was refunded on checking out.
Luggage was taken off the coach by hotel staff and taken to the room we did not touch any case.
We booked this holiday 14 months ago and told the travel agent it was our wedding anniversary, we also paid for a sea-view room with adjoining rooms for our sons. When we were taken to our room we discovered that we had been upgraded to a junior suite. WOW what a suite it was, with a balcony you could hold your own party on it was so big, the views were amazing.
The hotel and grounds are spotless with cleaning going on 24/7, all the staff are polite and friendly even with the heat. The pools were clean and plenty of sun beds so need to rush to get one.
The food is really really nice, there are so many places to eat at this hotel you will certainly find something to suit your taste buds. My favourite was the spit roast chicken with our favourite waiter Mehmet. Yes the main dining room can get a bit hectic, but not that bad that you cant find somewhere to sit and enjoy your meal. We did not try the Al a cart because there was no need. Also there was repeat of food, however there were so many choices, if you eat something different each day you will still not repeat what you have eaten unless you choose to.
The entertainment was really good, i particularly liked the white party as-well as the acrobats. Yes they can go on a little late, but is that not what a good holiday is all about
Our family have never been to turkey before this trip, and i can honestly say this was the best hotel that we have stayed in, and one of the most enjoyable holidays we have had in a long time. We will definitely be returning to this hotel but it will not be for a week like this time, it will be for 2 weeks. And i cant wait to go back. And it will be around the same time of year as the weather is cooling down slightly average around 33 to 36 degree's in the day and 24 to 27 degree's in the evening. The air con is free and ours worked well through the hole day and night.
Thank you to all the staff at the Titanic.
Mr and Mrs Sweetman.
