“Hotel Limak Lara - Lara Beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2012

This hotel is worthy of its 5 stars, nothing was too much trouble for staff to do and help you with whatever problem you had. The weather was not too good when we were there, but the facilities in this hotel made up for the weather. We only managed to use the outside facilites twice on the week we were there. There is plenty of swimming pools outside and two inside so there is plenty of space for everybody. The beach is private and has lots of facilities also, but again due to the weather we did not use any of these. The food was first class and plenty of it. Some people may not like the food as it is not typical british food, but you are in Turkey afterall. Entertainment in the hotel was good and there was plenty of bars in each of the entertainment places. Bar in your room was stocked up daily at no extra charge.

Never stayed at the same hotel twice so this was a first for us. Hotel just as clean, food just as good with wide selection and off good quality. We're not much into entertainment on holiday but the bits we did see was excellently done. Enjoyed our second stay as much as first and would return if we go back to Turkey.

A fantastic hotel which was spotless. We went just off season but the weather was still hot which meant all of the facilities were open but the hotel was probably quieter than usual – which we really liked.

Food
The food was very good and the evening buffets had enough choice each day of the usual items – pasta, chips, chicken curry/stew, rice, chips etc and there was also a large and varied salad bar which had canapés. This was then topped up with a few different items each day from the BBQ area and fresh fish. The desserts were also plentiful with cakes and mousses to all sorts of baklava. All in all lots to eat and very good quality food. We visited the Mexican (9 Euros each cover charge) and the Turkish restaurant (free) and both were worthwhile. The food was very good and extremely plentiful – also added a bit of variety to simply going to the buffet. Both restaurants are worth a visit. We ate at all three of the beach side/pool side restaurants open – the tandoori restaurant which served fresh pizzas and burgers to order, the beach side bar which had pancakes and either doner or chicken doner with rolls and the other bar which had a few buffet style items plus fresh bbq’ed meat and/or fish. All very tasty and lots of choice. Ice cream is also available. But by far and away the best food of the holiday was at Cafe Bonjour, essentially an onsite patisserie. As it was on the way back up to the room we had macaroons and cheesecake everyday – great choice, laid out as a bakers and they also made waffles each day. So lots of food, lots of choice and very very good quality especially for an all inclusive.

Room
The room was really clean and spacious. We had a standard sea view which had a small balcony with a view of the sea albeit slightly obscured by roofing, with two beds, a wide single and a queen and the bathroom was big and again very clean. There was also a separate walk in wardrobe/changing area. There was a flat screen TV but other than BBC world the only English channel was a 24 hour version of you’ve been framed – but that was fun enough. The mini bar was topped up every day and two bottles of water, 2 bottles of pepsi/fanta and two cartons of juice were included in the all inclusive each day. There was also a free safe.

Facilities
The hotel is huge and has several pools. We didn’t go in any of them as it was too cold but there was an indoor pool with a slide by the sauna which a lot of people were using. Nice green grounds with lots of sun loungers. The layout of the pools and grounds means that there are lots of quiet areas to set up as a base for the day away from other people or you can pick areas nearer others and the animation team. A great feature of the hotel is all of the different bar and cafe areas. There is always somewhere to sit in either the sun or shade. Our favourite areas when not on loungers were the area outside the lobby which was very sheltered from the wind with patio style furniture and sun in the morning and the outside area of the Panorama bar – 2 storeys up, just a few sofas in the sun with a view of the sea and the rest of the hotel and surrounded by shallow water – peaceful and a great view of everything.

Shows
The animation team is a little nuts – on one day you had one dressed as a butcher chasing another chasing a chicken around the pool area for no real apparent reason. But they are all very friendly. We did go to some of the shows before moving onto the bars with live music and whilst some people seemed to really enjoy them I think they are what you would expect for all inclusive hotels. A little tacky, more slapstick than wit but enjoyable enough. One point to note to though is there are hardly any English people at this hotel, mostly German. Whilst this did not impact us at all, if you like making friends on holiday or have children of an age where they like playing with others this is worth noting as it may make things more difficult. We watched the mini disco one night but unlike other places we have visited which have a range of songs in different languages this was all in German.

Outside the hotel
We only went for a brief walk but there are lots of shops (souvenirs, leather, clothes) and a supermarket within a few minutes of the hotel.

Overall a fantastic hotel, clean and friendly, with lots of places to relax and good food. We would recommend and go again.

First time in Turkey was not disappointed, very good room on third floor, mini fridge was replenished each day with beer and soft drinks. Food plenty of choice for all courses, dinning room can be busy early on with families later its fine. The Mexican & Italian restaurants were well worth 60 euros for four with an international wine. Sometimes in the oasis bar the mixers were flat so drinks were spoiled but it was rectified when you complained. The Panorama bar had excellent bar staff and was very comfortable for relaxing. Afternoon tea and cakes they were to die for. Pool snack bars were very good indeed for lunchtime the choice was very good, can't understand people who grumble. Staff work very hard throughout the hotel management can be seen checking all is going smoothly overall this is an excellent hotel. There are a mix of European nationals, we had no problems with any other guests everyone was polite and just enjoying their holidays. Well worth a try we ar booking again for next year.

Just returned from 7 days on 8th Nov. after holiday with my wife and 2 friends. It was their first time in Turkey after we,d told them how good it is. Our initial reaction to our allocated suite was one of delight. Things went slightly downhill after a visit to the Oasis Bar,where i can only describe the drinks we ordered as utterly attrocious. It seemed all the mixers to go with gin, whisky or vodka etc.were completely flat and devoid of any fizz! The beer and wine were fine so we stuck with that.It was so disappointing though after visiting 5 other hotels in the area and never once had a problem. After the 4th day i also noticed how repetitve the food was becoming. Then to top it off my wife had 2 days with sickness and diahorrea and i spent the last 2 nights with the same.On a good note though, the staff were all friendly,if a little biased towards the German people. After having been to the Delphin Palace,Baia Lara,Lara Beach and Concorde Hotels, this is the only one i would not return to,as the others were,in my opinion, far better!

Returned from 7 days on 1st November!! I travelled with my wife and 2 children aged 7 and 3. We booked a family sweet which was huge! The hotel is so clean, even the toilets on the beach are spotlessly clean and very modern! The room we had backed on to the road which was quite noisy during the night. The hotel is massive and takes a couple of days to find your way around. It has loads of pools but they were extremely cold given the time of year! It does have a heated indoor pool with a slide which was great when the sun went down to finish off the day! The choice of food and quality was first class!! Freshly cooked sea bass in one of the sea front lunch time snack bars says it all! We ate in two of the a la carte restaurants, the Italian and Mexican and both were up there with the best food I've had in top restaurants I've been to at home! The choice in the main restaurant was excellent! There are numerous bars you can choose from that suits those wanting a very quiet drink to a one with a live band playing each night! We did go to the kids disco and shows the animation team put on each night and whilst not west end quality you do find yourself enjoying them! How anyone can rate this hotel less than Excellent is beyond me! It really is top draw from the decor, to the cleanliness,
the food and the rooms, all superb!! Book it, you will not be disappointed!!!

First hotel holiday we have gone on with our 2 kids(4 & 7) We all loved it, all staff friendly especially to kids. The weather was perfect a bit cold in the evening. Very good facilities, only complaint would be that the pools were freezing not even slightly warm, and there were a lot of Germans and therefore is the preferred language of the staff. Food was plentiful, good choice, lovely fresh pizzas. We had a lovely deluxe room around the round pool, split level 2 rooms great with the kids. Beach towels supplied.
