Upon arrival 4am it we checked in and given instructions to the room on the 6th floor - after originall booking a low room with double bedrooms due to 3 children and 2 adults , we proceeded to try to find our way to the lift but was very hard as they turn off all the lights in the early hours so you really do need a torch to find your way if you are arriving on a late flight ! - really bizzare and dangerous when you have small children walking - also be warned the glass floors are trippy for them , my daughter tripped nearly every time we walked through the long lobby.
Upon opening our " family double room " we were greeted with a small box room with 5 beds in , not a good start to a 5 grand holiday at a 5* resort - we tried to get our heads down and try to sort the morning after.
The rooms are very modern and clean which is a good thing though
When seeing the thomas cook rep , after 20 mins of arguing the toss we saw the head relations manager and after many to and fros they said they will sort the next day , again after insisting we need this room or another hotel and i wouldnt mmove until it was fixed they magically found one
Upon movig into the new room we were amazed by the size and quality compared to the box room , it has amazing sea , pool view and views of the 2 surrounding hotels - this is one part of the hotel i cannot fault apart from the balcony - whatever you do do not let any children on the balcony in the junior suite rooms as the far end has a gap that a small child can easily fall through - please be warned it is that dangerous - we barricaded it with a chair and table and then made sure that we put the cot in the way if the door is ever opened - its a scary thought of what can happen if your youngster went exploring they would defenitly look here and defenitly fall though the gap - we didnt complain as the only other alternative would be the box rooms and we just made do with the measures we put in place .
The room itself has nice aircon a minibar stocked with a small pepsi , water and cherry juice daily , there is a tv with basic channels , and plenty of wardrobes ect.

There is 3 swimming pools which are all ok , nothing special there is waterslides tha are also dangerous as no lifeguards and lots of people going down and hitting people at the bottom as there is no control who or when to go down the slide - so again with youngsters be careful , there is 2 pool bars serving watered down beer and soft drinks ect also there is a crepe bar where the lovely women there will serve hot crepes all day long ,which are nice . ------------
If at this bar watch out for a barman named " koray " he is a conman who asked to borrow £4 for a few hours on my 11th day of 14 to go somewhere then never paid it back , im sure he does this to many tourists - what sort of 5* hotel has this going on , i would have liked to smack him one but at the end of these 2 weeks i just wanted to get out get home and forget the whole experience ! --------
There is another snack bar at the beach that serves chips , burgers hot dogs ect as well as fish every day along with other bits and pieces ------
There are a fair few loungers and if arriving before 8-9am you should easily find one , after 10 there is not many left in the good spots , also if you lose your towel they issue you it costs £15 to replace , which can easily happen as we saw people frequently pinch towels , a small tip though is they actually issue them for free in the gym and instead of paying £15 to get a new one just ggo to the gym then take the blue towel from there ! ----------
The pool entertainment after 2 days get repetitive and annoying and catered for adults so your 9-14 year olds get left out of the water polo , crazy darts , air rifle ect which was annoying as they wanted me to do it but my 12 year old couldnt - pretty lame all in all
Also the water rafting is never on as advertised nor is the ten pin bowling , so the kids have to waterslide it all day or mess around in the pool , the mini golf is very basic and lame as well , there is a football pitch and a small funfair which costs a fortune - funnily enough the man who runs the funfair said the kervansaray was the worst hotel on the strip and a complete rip off as the other funfairs at hotels were free and also much better -------
The games room is a con 34 for 30 mins of pool , of which there is only 2 pool tables , for a 630 room hotel this is a joke in itself
There is also some crappy 1990s arcade machines at £1.20 a pop , another rip off , this was all there was for kids at night , if we know this we could have gone to butlins !
Watch out they charge a fortune to use the wireless internet , i was stung for £70 for checking my emails onece every night for a week and the internet room is always full as there is only 3 computers to use , ----------
The food , for the first 4-5 days we seemed impressed but ater then it got repetitive and there was not much traditional turkish food , lots of euro food and the usual fruit veg ect , saying that the foods were tasty and well presented and many desserts to choose from , but breakfasts were not too varied and the cornflake section is not great as the milk isnt like ours and the cereals were pretty lame too , they do have omlettes , scrambled egg ect as well as cheeses , breads and all the other stuff , all set out the same every day
---- dinners were nice but defenitly got boring after a week and after what we heard was going on in the hotels next door we were vey jealous as they seemed to have much more choice , this was feeling more like a free for all canteen and didnt feel like a 5* restaraunt , ( a fellow guest actully snuck into the hotel next door and had a meal there twice as e had frinds staying in there and said it was true 5* with many grilled meats compared to our choice of 1 each night and they had around 4 times the selection of the kervansaray canteen food and they served with quality wines and beer , not the cheap stuff we had to drink ---------
We neer tried the hospitality restaraunts but they have 3 ala carte ones that we heard mixed reviews from other guests
------ plenty of high chairs to go around for younger ones in the corner near the bread section--------
Evening entertainment was around 1 hour long after dinner , was again pretty lame although was okay as it at least gave kids something to do for a while in the evening , but nothing to get exited about , its often interuppted by the firework displays that the other hotels are having next door which are quite amazing to watch - after the entertainment is over the arcade is open for a bit until around 12am but nothing else , exept a euro disco playing thumping techno catered for the europeans , of which there are many , i didnt really get bothered about them or the rudness i have heard about as they dont bother you so nothing to worry , sometimes go to the front of ques but if u cant beat em join em and push in as well , we were more concerned about the staff and the unhelpfulness of them and lack of english being spoke , really hard to communicate with 75% of the staff if you dont speak turkish ---- guest relations is agood for helping with any room faults , and sorted most things apart from when it came to late checkout which they dont help with as they overbook the hospital , sorry i mean hotel, oh yeah the guy who runs the shop will overcharge you on newspapers and wont let you use his pump to blow up airbeds if he dosent sell them to you , which is again great hospitality from a 5* hotel wouldnt you say !! --------- the location is a 30 min walk from the main shops but they all sell the same thing anyway , you shouldnt need to leave your hotel if it is a 5* complex but we needed to get out each night away from the boredom and soulless kervansaray, we spoke with some locals who asked where we were staying and when we told them they said it was not the best of choices so it obviously has a reputation that isnt only shared by a select few
Im sure you can choose any other hotel on the strip and will be a better choice than this hotel its got 5* rooms but the rest of the hotel we feel we would have got better value booking a 3* self catering holiday in another part of turkey or paying a extra grand or 2 and getting true 5* hotel in lara beach , ------------- you have been warned , i only wish i read these reviews before i booked this ---------------------- pleased dont get me wrong we did have good times every day with the kids around the pool and sunbathing in the 4 degree heat , also had some great relaxing wind downs on the beautiful view on the balcony with a sneaked up drink from the lobby bar , but this could have been had at any hotel with a swimming pool and a sea view and at a lot less cost , all in all this is a mus avoid hotel when you see what the rest of the strip has to offer , this should be the last resort if you absolutley must go to lara beach , we wont be going back for a while as there is just not enough outside the resort to see within walking distance and feel other hotels and areas will have much more to offer next year .

After reading various negative reviews about this hotel I was slightly concerned about our trip. I have to say that most reviews were unfortunatley right. We stayed at the hotel at the beginning of July for our honeymoon. The first hiccup became apparent when we arrived to a twin bedded room! We managed to change the room but it was on day two and we were only there for the week. The hotel was very dark with neon strips and although nice on the first couple of nights, I soon started to get a severe case of seasonal affected disorder! The music in the evening was that of break up songs.. great for us honeymooners. The local attractions were 2 shopping centres, not a cafe, bar or restaraunt outside this hotel.. beware of cabin fever!!
We didn't mind the lack of Brits but the overspill of Rude Russians made me long for some Cockney slang and Yorkshire dulcit tones.
The food was great and of course the free drink but how can you feel magical on your honeymoon when you can't see each other in the lighting and every song is more morose than Songs of Praise on a wet Sunday afternoon!
Please please think carefully if this is your honeymoon

my boyfriend and i have just come back from here, the hotel is lovely very modern and very clean, the rooms are lovely to and ours got cleaned everyday. There are russians and germans there but i wouldnt say they take over there are just as many english people there. The food was different everyday they dont do your english eggs n bacon but they do fried eggs n toast for your breakfast n they also do food that you wouldnt normally eat for breakfast. Theres lots to choose from to eat n the dinnerhall does get busy. There are 4 swimming pools one is a wave pool and one has 4 slides in it the other two are just 2 relaxing pools with plenty of sunbeds and parasols. The beach is also lovely with lots of comfy sunbeds, there is also a lovely pier to sit on and lots of water sports. The only thing i would say about the hotel is that because it is totally made of glass it is so hot in there and the air con is not on all the time so the only place to get away from the heat is in your room. although outside if the heat gets to much there are cold showers by the pool to cool down in and also on the beach. You dont need to take a hairdryer as there is onw in the room. Theres not lots to do in lara beach itself, theres a few shops with the cheap named clothes in but not souvener shops. he gym and the indoor pool are also nice and they also have a steam room and jacuzzi. Be carefull with your luggage allowance though as they do charge in alanya airport and its £10 a kilo, its also quite expensive in the airport for drinks, although when u arrive in alanya airport the duty free shop there is cheaper than manchester airport fro cigarrettes and drink. I work for thomas cook and i would definately recommend this hotel, we had a great time and couldnt fault it.

We've just returned home on monday, my boyfriend and i (me 21, my bf 23), and another couple (21 & 24),and had read some bad reviews so were a little worried, but we had an absoloutely brilliant holiday there! the hotel was very clean, food was good, i mean your in a different country, of course your not going to be expecting english food, the variety of bbq food changed everyday and we had no reason to complain about anything with our hotel. yes its dark, but only at night, which to be fair is to be expected!!
the beach was gorgeous, the entertainment team are a great laugh, and were really friendly towards us. and to be honest we didnt even take any notice of the russians and germans, yes they are rude, but we already knew that! the nightclub is a good laugh, and if u dont fancy that then the beach bar is so relaxing and beautiful at night, with live acoustic music,u win both ways!!
the rooms were lovely, air conditioned throughout our whole stay, mini fridge was topped up with water and fizzy drinks everyday, the maid even tidied our shoes and folded our clothes for us! the beds were huuuuuuuge!!!! very confortable :D we did request to be on the same floor as our friends, we werent, but it didnt bother us in the slightest, as we only slept in our rooms, we were on the 4th floor, just right :)
i really dont see how anyone could moan about this place.........we all had a FANTASTIC time, and all 4 of us didnt want to leave.........45 degrees heat, clean pool, drinks 24/7, nice food, gorgeous beach.....what more could you want :)

This hotel has far more positives than negatives so take the bad reviews with a pinch of salt and make your holiday a positive one.

Room-
Family room very large with two rooms with one large bathroom and one large shower room. Clean and fridge topped up everyday

Food -
Very good with chefs cooking several fresh dishes outside everyday including a BBQ.

Staff -
If your polite then we found they were as well. Learning to say hello and thank you in Turkish goes a very long way. (after all they do have to deal with Russians every day!)

Bars -
All good. Best one for some quite is the beach bar which has a cocktail night.

Beach -
very well looked after and the beach staff do not stop helping everyone to enjoy their holiday. Especially Kadir.

Pools -
Clean and good enough to entertain 2 teenagers for hours on end.

Entertainment -
On par with similar hotels in the evening if you like that kind of thing. Day time entertainment was extensive and a simple no thank you is enough if you do not wish to take part.

Overall a clean pleasant hotel which you cannot fail to enjoy good food plenty of drink large family rooms and excellent beach staff.

We would recommend this to friends
