My husband and i were certain that we should write a review of this hotel as previous good reviews played a big part in us chosing this hotel for our honeymoon. We stayed for 2 weeks in april and the weather was just lovely. It was really nice and warm, plenty warm enough for us pasty scots!

The whole resort is something special, like a little oasis. It was bigger than we thought it would be. The hotel itself is huge. We were in a junior suit, right at the front of the hotel with an outlook onto the pool area and the sea beyond. So pretty. Our room was lovely, spacious, modern and clean. The whole hotel had a lovely modern feel. The lobby area with the glass elevator is pretty cool and i have to admit we did ride it once just for fun!

The hotel amenities are fabulous. We were there for 2 weeks so it would have been easy to get bored but that didnt happen. We spent most of our days relaxing by the pool, on the lovely private beach or sipping a mojito at one of the bars. what more could you want? The entertainment was aimed at families with kids but they seemed to be enjoying it and the animation team really were everywhere. Seemed really friendly. All of the staff were lovely and always attentive. we did go to see a movie at the hotels cinema but be warned most of the films were shown in german with english subtitles. Because we were in a junior suit we had acess to a private lounge with internet access and self service bar. Again, what more could you want?

The food on the whole was great. We were not there in peak season so not all of the restaurants were open but there was still plenty of choice. We loved the main buffet restaurant. It had lots of chice and theme nights so it varied all the time. it was great for lunch with fabulous choice of salads. We also had the choice of 4 a la carte restaurants. our favourite was the mediterranian. Really nice atmophere and the food was great. The turkish restaurant was also really good. your meal is kicked off with lots of little tapas dishes,,.. a really nice touch. i wasnt so keen on the sea food restaurant but my hubby enjoyed it. It is outdoors so was a little breezy. In 2 weeks at the hotel we found there was plenty variety and lots of options if we fancied something different.

Dont even get me started on the drinks! The all inclusive really was ALL inclusive. Absolutely everything, from the wine with dinner to mojitos by the pool were included. As was our mini bar which was restocked daily with water, fizzy drinks, beer, spirits and wine! The lobby bar is a great place to sit back and do a bit of peopl watching. Our favourite bar was the one with the swingy seast! The bar tender there made the best mojitos!

We did one day trip, the real Turkey trip. It was lovely to see a bit of the surrounding area. we were taken to a mosque and shown a real turkish village and noamd's house. It was a great wee trip. We also visited a real Turkish bath wich was really relaxing. we had aslo booked a trip to a market and waterfall but that one was cancelled.

All in all we had a wonderful time here. I could not have asked for a better honeymoon and would highly reccommend to anyone seeking a little rest and luxury. We will defiantely aim to go back in the future,

this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in, this is our second time here and we have already booked to go back in October from the moment you arrive you are treated with respect no matter what your nationality the staff at the check in are courteous and very helpful, you are dealt with quickly and taken to your rooms we had a side sea/pool view with good views to the mountains we had the sun on our balcony in the afternoons the room was of a good size with plenty of wardrobe space i would advise you take extra hangers with you as there are never enough,we had a 32 inch TV which was a welcome surprise the fridge is restocked daily at no cost ( part of the ultra all inclusive package ) the bed was very comfortable and you had a choice of pillows. The bathroom was of a good size with a rain shower. the maid kept the room very clean we had a fruit basket upon arrival there were slippers and dressing gowns in our room
Please do not believe the negative reviews that certain guests have given, this is most definitely one of the best hotels you will stay in it is ultra all inclusive and to the uneducated few amongst us what this means is, you do not pay for the al a ca rte restaurants you get international drinks a 24hr bar free safes in your room plus the mini bar re- stocked as you use it, there is a cinema (free) you get Internet in your room (free) or you can use the computers in the lobby you get such things as fresh orange juice and champagne (free) there are loads of other little extras that i will not bore you with.
The hotel is the first drop of from the airport and is set back from the main road as you will notice from various pictures the building itself is not imposing but i don' t consider that off putting same as the area it is in is nothing to write home about but if like me you do your homework before you go you will know what to expect ,if you are foolish enough to go somewhere without first researching the area then more fool you is what i always say.
The food is of a very high standard i always found it pipping hot the only time you did find it a bit cooler was when some moron had left the covers open these are the same people who complain about cold food or flies around food my advice is use your common sense and close the lids but to say there is no variety is just not true you have fresh salmon , chicken, turkey, pork, beef the list goes on a lot of the food is cooked in front of you we had fresh fruit and the strawberries where excellent there was an abundance of salad food the bread is excellent there is even a vegetarian section if you could not find something to eat then you really do have a problem. We did find some of the waiters in the restaurant area to be a bit miserable but our answer was to use the friendly ones problem solved we do not let little things like that spoil our holiday as for some people complaining it is like a canteen or cattle market all i can say to that is, if you do not understand the concept of an all inclusive resort then you should go self catering and then you can go out to local restaurants and as one reviewer complained that they expected the restaurant to be open 24/7 where in the world will you find restaurants open night and day and why would you want to eat at such late times as was suggested ,you will end up with indigestion and then no doubt blame it on the food,I'm afraid some people need to get real. there is a patisserie for afternoon tea ice creams and some lovely gateaux, cheesecakes, carrot cakes etc, the breakfasts are good but do not expect full English i had the porridge and yogurt most days but there is a large variety even sprouts yuk! one thing that does annoy me is how they have a dress code but still let some men in with shorts on and the vast majority of them are not British but the nationalities who complain about the Brits. I must add that i have never seen cats in any of the retaurants apart from the open air restaurants and they definately did not clean the plates as one person said this is just not true
The pool area is huge and although as in most resorts you have to get up early to get your preferred spot by the pool this was not a problem because i am an early riser and enjoy a quite stroll around the resort after grabbing my sun beds ha ha the animation team are excellent but do not mid-er you if you do not want to join in you even have a trolley dolly going round the pool with drinks the grounds are very well kept there is always gardening work going on keeping everything spotless the biggest problem we had around the pool area was the occasional unruly rude child whose parents have no idea how to control and again they where not British.
The evening entertainment was of a good standard and the animation team need to be commended for their tireless work, after the shows most people who liked to party stayed round the pool area till late listening to the varied music and dancing but if you wanted peace and quite you went inside, the waiter/waitress service was excellent i must say i think the ladies where more efficient than the men as for the international drinks we never had a problem getting the drinks we asked for i drink Bacardi and it was the real thing ,to say you have to follow the waiters to the bar to make sure you get the correct drink is just not true.
To finish of all i can say is do not believe the negative reports, to say it is perfect is probably incorrect but the way some snobs describe the place is just not fair to the hard work the staff at the hotel put in all i can say is go and find out yourself you will not be disappointed

Just returned from 10 days at the brilliant Barut hotel. This is the third year runnning we have returned something we never do.
Why? - its in the previous reviews Unbeliavable service, amazing food and the hotels ability to make you feel relaxed and special.
Since last year parts of the hotel have been refurbished very tastefully and the entertainment programme reviewed, updated and very popular.
If you want a holiday to recharge your bateries in a wonderful setting I can`t think of anywhere better.
We will be back in 2011

We stayed in a 2 bedroom residence in August 2009 which was lovely. The room itself was large clean and modern and overlooked a small pool for the residence rooms which was lovely to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main pool.

We didn't think much of the main restaurant which felt much like a canteen which is a common theme for restuarants catering for alot of people. We found the food not very warm and it was difficult to get good service from the staff struggling to get drinks etc. In general we found most of the restaurant staff surley and unhelpful.

We loved the A'la carte restaurants especially the Turkish and ate in these most evenings, the staff here were much better.

The beach was dissapointing, quite stoney, we took our snorkels hoping to make use of them but the sea was too rough and murky.

The main areas and grounds of the hotel were all very clean and well kept and the gardens beautiful.

The resort of Lara is non existent, its just a strip of beach with hotels bordering it, there is a small shopping centre which is not worth visiting.

Overall we had a good holiday and it is a very good hotel although for us the beach and resort area lets it down.

Hi,
We spent our 7 days holiday from 27 August till 3 September 2010. Frankly speaking we can recommend Barut Hotel to all of these who are not decided and have doubts. Buildings of hotel look normally, no special effects as we can see in other hotels in Lara but the most important are: great atmosphere, great service, entertainment, great food, great drinks, clean rooms...everything is great, its real 5Q stars hotel...our 7 days burned like 7 hours....

We spent 6 nights at this hotel and just returned last night, we booked it based on the tripadvisor rating and i am more than satisfied, I’ve stayed at many 5 star resorts all over the world (Mexico, Jamaica, Dominican, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Turkey, Bulgaria, Cuba) and i can easily say this was the best resort i have even seen .

The shear amount of activities that there is to do in this hotel will keep you happily busy for more than 2 weeks if you wanted to stay just in the resort. The staff and the entertainment staff are amazing as well with great programs everyday..

The hotel is kept in immaculate condition; in my stay there i did not see a single piece of garbage or anything out of place or not in order.
The food and the liquor is amazing as well, with great selection of both including premium drinks, and with the choice of 5 a le cart'e restaurants plus 2 snack bars and a full buffet we didn’t even have a chance to try the food everywhere, and we were happy with it.

There is live music at dinner and after dinner as well which is great. The cinema and the night cub are great at nights.

We booked a normal room and once we got there they upgraded us for free to a junior suite, this room was massive (approx. 700 sq feet) and AMAZING, with 2 different rooms and 2 tvs and all the accessories, fresh fruit was served to us in the room with a bottle of wine upon our arrival.
Anyways I could go on for pages saying how great this place was, I’m never going to another hotel in Antalya other than barut lara for sure. I’ve stayed at a few 5 star resorts there previously and they are not even in the same league, can’t even compare.

Booked as a last minute family trip. Made (what turned out to be the mistake) of opting for something cheaper than we usually would, and while obviously not expecting anywhere near a 5 star hotel or the level of service associated with it, was certainly an eye opener in terms of how bad it is. Picked the holiday for our daughter due to what looked like a good childrens programme, and in this area she certainly had a great time. A lot of activities for her day and night (which she could dip in and out of) really made for a great stay for her. Having said that, they did dress some of the young four year olds up as Dolly Parton for an MTV night, which seemed perhaps more than a tad inappropriate. Other positive is that a couple of the pools were ideal for our one year old since they started at 0cm depth.
So aside from Butlins style kids activities, what did we get? -

Hotel - lies on a purpose built nasty strip, Lara beach. Barut itself is a large concrete tower surrounded by low rise buildings. Not pretty, looks a lot older than it is. Doesn't lend itself to good views for those staying in low rise accommodation, since you primarily have views of the big block and its balconies (quite a few dressed in a football flags from the guests - you start to get an idea of the kind of people that stay here now).

Accommodation - varies. Due to a high occupancy the largest room we could get was Family Suite. This was tired, small, had zero hot water most evenings and a bathroom dangerous for young kids. Reminded me of 3 star places that I stayed at as a kid in the early 80's. Checked with reservations about changing to a 2 bed residence and they were able to offer this, which made a difference. If you must stay here, then only stay in the residences..

Ultra all inclusive - Left wondering what an ultra all inclusive was quite quickly. You would expect that a normal all inclusive would enable you to eat when you please, but this is not easy. At 14.00 the lunchtime restaurants close until after 18.00. You are left with an outdoor kiosk serving only junk food, or the choice of returning to your room for a disgusting room service menu. If you have young children then you are left wondering how to feed them dinner. Dinner also, most tables cleared by 21.30 in the evening, no chance to eat anywhere but in your room after this time.

Food - appalling. The main (packed) canteen/buffet restaurant with its lukewarm, bird and fly ridden muck was just dreadful. Having quickly struck the buffet ofrom our list we were left with the following - fish restaurant, BBQ, "fine dining" option, and one other that had no theme (except the shared hotel theme of serving awful food). The fish was overcooked and tasteless, and with tables left uncleared had cats on them clearing the plates. The BBQ served quite simply the cheapest cuts available. Onto the "fine dining romantic adult only restaurant". They served us a fish with vegetables which was left over from the lunchtime buffet. This dish was microwaved, complete with (hot) pickled gherkins. Thankfully after four or five days of dreadful food we managed to finally get into the Turkish restaurant, and thank god we did. The food here was actually edible, and most of it quite nice. The staff were better in this restaurant too. This is where we ate, every night, for the remainder of our stay.
Drinks - weak and watered down. I read a previous review from a repeat Barut visitor in which he seems to feel honoured that after three of four visits they now serve him premium brands. Indeed, they do have the premium brands at the bar, but they most certainly won't use them to make your drinks, even if you clearly specify a brand they have. The only way you will land a premium brand is to leave your table and follow the service staff to the bar and watch it poured. Again, am left wondering what ultra inclusive is.

Entertainment - not really looking for much of this, so cannot comment on its quality, Would add that every night that loud music was pumped all over the resort until about 11pm, not welcomed, but not a massvie problem until the hotels next door also started booming out music at the same volume. Leaves you with a mish mash of several songs. Irritating, and certainly loud enough to wake up the kids.

Overall, perhaps my own fault for reducing my budget for this holiday. I just did not imagine that the quality would be this low. Shame really, because my daughter loved it and spent quite a few weeks asking whether we could come back to the same place again. Have managed to avoid answering that question to this point, but will now be heavily investing time in finding a hotel but with the quality of the Barut's childrens programme, and one that is much, much nicer than this.
