A fabulous hotel with fabulous service. I find it hard to believe anyone can think up a single complaint about the Barut Lara!
This hotel has fabulous food, the all inclusive service really means all inclusive, the pool and gardens were lovely.
I had a standard room which in itself was great, all the mod cons you would expect to find in a five star hotel.
In summary, if I could come back to this hotel year after year I would, quite simply it's that good!

As a regular user of TA and being quite fussy in terms of where we go for holidays I would agree that this hotel is definitely one of the better ones situated on Lara Beach. If your looking for a really good AI then this is the place for you. Choice of food was good, with a good buffet to choose from as well as five restaurants within the grounds. I thought we might have problems making reservations but this wasn't the case with plenty of availability at all the restaurants. I would recommend the beach BBQ and seafood restaurants.

This is a lovely hotel, with very friendly staff and excellent accommodation. Given that this holiday was expensive my expectations were slightly higher than usual and I'd agree with some comments that this hotel may not actually up there in the 5 stars. For instance the hotel policy regarding the allocation of sun beds was not enforced which meant having to get up really early to secure a place by the pool. I was also slightly disappointed in the quality of the brands of drink available, although the local "efes" beer was fine. As you can see these are only very minor comments and I would still recommend this hotel to anyone who's looking for a relaxing holiday.

I always like to write a review as I appreciate other peoples comments on hotels when trying to decide on a hotel but this time apart from saying absolutely amazing what more can I say than read Shirty 53 comments from Manchester and I totally agree.

If anyone has been to a similar hotel in the canaries that they could recommend for the October holidays I would truly appreciate it.

This hotel gets five stars all round, hence we chose it. However, sorry to say we thought it was more of a good four star. Reasons being. Food is 'unremarkable', there are five a la carte restaurants and not one stood out for us. Kids slides in the aqua park werent' working all week. They supply you with towelling bath robes (not so good when its so hot). Worth noting if you are allergic to cats dont go as there are a lot of them wandering about. Also if you upgrade to a suite you get a few extras, such as private check in, free newspaper (waste of time, its just Turkish news, written in English), free Room Service, and the use of an internet room with a library to swap books (but dont worry if you are not a Suite guest you can still go in and get books, use computers etc). It's a bit of a bun fight to get a sunbed, I guess it is at most places but by about half past 8 you would be out of look at the main pool. Tip - there is another pool in the 'residence' area that looked much much quieter. Oh and the evening entertainment, although they tried hard it wasnt great, and you are a bit stuck in the middle of nowhere. Went to Antalya on Dolmus (be warned although its only about 20 mins away, it takes an hour on the bus). Was also shocked to see that Thomas Cook charge £168 return taxi transfer. If you get a taxi straight from the airport (no queues) , its 15Euro each way! Thats a big saving. Overall Barut Lara is nice, but not that nice...

If you are going for a total chill out time and don't want to move from your sunbed, then this place an absolute must for you to try. My wife and I have been all over the world and stayed in some nice hotels / average hotels / cruise ships and of course some very basic / poor hotels but trust me this one is right up there at the very top, infact if you don't leave the hotel grounds at all you would not even know you were in Turkey which sometimes can give you an upset stomach because of poor hygene standards.
The Standard rooms are excellent in size with a huge bed and split duvet covers all crisp and white. It also has a flat screen t.v. with dvd player ( you can hire dvd's) and a small hi fi c.d player. There is fresh fruit and a mini bar which is restocked daily including beer ( all included ) . The bathroom is very modern and clean with a seperate toilet completed with shampoo's / conditioners and oils. There is a wardrobe safe ( no extra cost ) and the air con system is so quiet ( we have experienced some realy noisy ones ) you would not know it is on ! The balcony is small but adequate and most are located on the sides of the hotel with a limited, but okay seaview.
The gardens and pool area's are extensive and the lawns are manicured with teams of gardeners hand weeding daily to keep them immaculate !. There are plenty of sunbeds around the large pools and we didn't have much problem getting one at 10am. ( there is a notice in your room saying you cannot reserve beds and any found unused for more than 2 x hours will have their towels removed, but we never saw this enforced ).
There are 6 x A'Lacarte restaurants which have to be booked in advance ( my advice is to book a different one for each night all at once ). All are excellent in quality, choice, standard and service ( the Turunc was our fave ), the cutlery and glasses are highly polished and clean which is always a good yardstick to eating out. Even in the main restaurant where you have breakfast / lunch and dinner the buffet style choices are excellent but with the same high standards applied.
Drinks: There are several bars dotted around and there are ALWAYS plenty of staff eager to serve you.No sooner have you finshed your drink than the waiters are there asking if you would like a refil, trust me its as if they are on comission to get rid of the stuff as fast as they can !!!!! They are adequate and definately not watered down though if you want named brands, forget it. The Efes draught beer was good and there were some bottled beers available ( Miller Light & Efes Dark ) and also managed a few Jim Beam whiskeys. Even when you are sunbathing round the pool they often send a trolley round with ice cold soft drinks and water, so no need to traipse off to the bar yourself. ( the waiters dont hang around to be tipped and we saw very few people tipping though there are tips boxes on the bar areas and the service doesn't decrease if you dont tip )
Entertainment: Basically they have an entertainments team to look after you all day and night ( if you want to ) There is a small ampitheatre which did some realy good shows ( magic / Mama Mia etc etc ) which was watchable.
All in all we found it very difficult to fault anywhere and although it is expensive to go we did not spend a penny more once there (except £2 for a Sun Newspaper )
Very highly recommended and i am not one to return anywhere but we are already planning a return next year !!!
