Owner description: The historical site of Perge, 18 kilometers east of Turkey, holds the vast remains of what was once the most propserous city of the ancient world. Enter by passing through the arch of the Roman Gate to be greeted by an amphitheater, the Hellenistic Gate (quite well preserved) and richly decorated remains of the city wall and much more.

If you have little time, choose to visit Aspendos rather than Pergé. However, Pergé is interesting as well. Note that the theater in Pergé cannot be visited as it threatens to collapse, which is a bit frustrating.

Well worth the visit to see such incredible ruins. Perge is definitely a little off the beaten path but once we got there it was worth the trip.

We visited off season and had Perge almost to ourselves. This is relatively undeveloped, and you can explore the city as you like, discovering surprises and interesting things around every turn. The ruins of the baths are fantastic, and the main road with the water channel running down the center looks like the ancient model for the current Ataturk Caddesi in Antalya (where there is a water channel down the center of the street as well). You can really feel like what the city would have been like in its prime.

Big place easy to walk around. Not full of tourists and in good conditions that will allow you to imagine how all these stones were in a time buildings and streets.

A truly wonderful site visited on a local tour. . Huge ruins and even a little wild tortoise wandering about the Agora! Fabulous artifacts in the Antalya museum.
