We were transferred to the kremlin hotel after been told about our 12 hour delayed flight, having stayed at the royal wings, and the royal palace in previous years, and then our most recent stay the titanic hotel, we we're not too fussed as had read about the kremlin and it's reviews didn't seem too bad, so was quite looking forward to having a mosey round.
Upon arrival, the hotel from the outside is quite impressive, and nicely designed, the reception area is huge and at first glance looks very impressive, as everything is like kings throne style sofas etc, only when you look a little closer you really see how run down this hotel is.
We were checked in, and the bell boy brought our cases down to our room which was through a little alleyway, as walking through the outside area smelt really funny, while been littered with loads of cats and kittens hovering outside the hotel rooms.
Upon walking in to our room, which was situated in the bottom floor, there was an horrific smell of urine, which was bad enough, it was as if the cats had been sleeping in there. My partner didn't even want to take her shoes off as the carpets were that disgusting and stained.
We then opened the curtains to see the balcony area, which had 2 chairs a table, and then a tree view. Literally the tree was coming through the window so there wasn't even room to sit out.
The bathroom was very grubby, and had brown mucky marks all down the side of the bath and the bottom of the bath, literally the best thing about the room was the premier league football channel which showed the weekend football highlights in detail, and also the mini bar which had a couple of beers and pepsi in. I didn't want to get in the covers come bed time either as again the covers just smelt and looked grubby, as if never been washed.
The air con blew warm air out in the room, and I don't think air con existed in the hotel itself either as it was stifling, and it wasn't hot weather wise. The hotel seemed to be catering for the Germans, Russians and mainly all the locals who were everywhere due to the Turkish carnival. we walked round to look at all the facilities on offer and to be fair there is plenty to do at the hotel, there's an amusement area, a few bars in the main lobby, free wifi, a couple of clothes shops reasonably priced too, my mrs even purchased a lovely dress from there too, a souvenir shop, a sweet shop all before even heading outside. The outside are was again littered With things to do, from nice big pools, music, entertainment shows at night, watersides, water pipes, traditional Turkish eating tents,to total chill out bean bags, the only problem being is that everything just looked so old and tired, a lot of the fixtures of the hotel just needed upgrading or modernising and I'm sure it would bring the standard of the hotel up considerably. It was also like we had 2 heads as most of the ignorant russians and Germans just glared at us, while the Turks who had come from Istanbul and other areas for the carnival just looked like they wanted to cause trouble, we had a few knocking on our door, and hanging round outside some of the ground floor rooms. with the hotel rooms we were put in been located a couple of minutes walk through like an alley way me and my partner didn't feel 100% safe to be walking around so even chose to stay in the not so delightful room itself.
In regards to food, this was also disappointing, as there seemed very little choice, maybe two types of meat, one fish, and mainly just salad and fancy cakes which were not our cup of tea. The best food was outside on the balcony area, where you could make your own stir fry and pass it to a chef who cooked the meal for you on the giant wok, this could of been very useful only if we knew what spices were what, and trying to get a word of English from anyone in the hotel was near on impossible. There was also southern fried chicken which was very spicy and tastey served with wedges from the balcony too, so if you don't mind KFC most nights you would be fine as this was fairly good.
Lastly the bar areas were serving drinks in warm glasses, getting drinks mixed up all over the place, and getting non alcoholic mixed up with alcoholic drinks, so thankfully our 6 month old baby wasn't yet drinking soft drinks.
All in all I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, how this can be rated as 4 star is beyond me. I could of gone on for much longer for reasons to stay away, but I think you get my point. Trust me if you are English and want a relaxing nice clean hotel, with a good range of food then this place is not for you at all, unless you want to sit on old dusty loungers where the cats have just been laid. The hotel is also a lot further out than all the nicer hotels on the main strip, so your about 50 minutes to get to the shops if you want to go out for a look in the shops etc.
There were 7 coach loads dropped off at the kremlin. And almost everybody we spoke to coming back today have said exactly the same, so this is not just one couples opinion but several several families and couples too
