Karaalioglu park overhangs the old harbour and is off the kaleci. If you have little ones in a buggy it's a great opportunity for them to stretch their legs with a run round. There are some well maintained toys, my daughter loved a climbing frame shaped like a plane and had great fun crawling through the "engines" with a turkish boy. The turks are so friendly and welcoming to children. There are a couple of cafes, a man selling hot chestnuts, a nut vendor, ice creams, candy floss and a shoe-shine man.
The only problem is that the public loos were absolutely revolting and quite turned my husband's (very strong) stomach.
