“nice cosy and pittoresque hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2012

it was a nice and cosy place in the old town of Antalya. Quiet place to stay. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. We had a wonderfull time there and stayed one week. The restaurant is quite dark, but a very romantic place. It may be a little bit unconfortble for older people and children, because of the stairs en floors (it's a very old building). We loved it there.

We stayed here for a week from March 24th 2012. We were in an annex in a room named Vivaldi. Lovely room and quiet. The shower was a little difficult to control and the jacuzzi bath did not work but overall the week was lovely. The food was good but the evening meal became a little predictable. ( Try the Vanilla restaurant- see review). The hotel staff were lovely and so friendly. If at first you think they are not just talk to them. I think they are trained to talk to guests only when a guest speaks to them so speak to them. They are great.

Room Tip: Stay in one of the annexes- they are quieter. No lift as the buildings are restored Ottomen houses s...

I had a fantastic time when I visited this hotel. The food is great and plentyiful. The rooms are clean, comfy, stylish and quiet. The location is great. And when my son hurt himself in a rafting accident the hotel management and staff looked after us in a way that would not happen if I was holidaying in the UK.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms off site from the actual hotel. Only 5 metres away, but very peaceful and sylish

Tourists who choose the Alp Pasa hotel will be well pleased with their choice. The hotel, which has both charm and character, was created by joining and renovating four 300 year old mansions. It is meticulously clean. The room are of ample size and well fitted. Our standard room came with a firm, king size bed, duvet, heater/air conditioner, flat screen TV , slippers and house coat and a jacuzzi tub. However, the rooms are on 3 floors and the steps are precipitous. If you choose an upgraded room with a sea view you will also face a nearby mosque and likely will be awakened by the call to prayer at 5:00 AM. The staff are friendly and efficient and the girls at reception helpful and charming.

Food is plentiful and OK to good. Dinner service is buffet with a variety of breads, salads and desserts. There are casserole dishes and soup as well as a chef managing a grill service. However. mostly fish and chicken is served. Breakfast is also buffet and European in content with many salads, cheese and meat. Even soup is served. Fresh fruit is limited to apples and pears. Cereal is limited to "kiddie Stuff" like sugar pops, although on a couple of mornings Museli was available. A Chef mans a grill and will cook fried eggs to your liking and omelet. For variety, We took oranges that were available at dinner, bought bananas, grape fruit and grapes and made our own fruit salad. We checked unsuccessfully in the supermarket for oatmeal and if we return will take packets of instant with us. Turkish tea and coffee are served. If you like tea with milk I regret that the water in the urn is only hot. I "borrowed" a coffee pot from the dining room and made my own pot in m our room with boiling water using a handy immersion heater which we always carry. The fruit juice was dreadful: thin, weak and tasteless. Oranges were in season and a bottle of fresh juice could be purchased for 2 TL (Turkish Lira) on the street. Fresh juice served in the dining room cost 8.75 TL. Guests are asked not to bring food or drink into the hotel. However, unlike other hotels in Turkey , bottled water was not supplied. Mini bar water was available at 3.75 for a small bottle. A large bottle across the street cost 1 TL.

The hotel is centrally located in the old city on Hesapci Street. Going out the door and turning right brings you to Hadrian' Gate and the city walls. Turning left brings you to the sea front and a park. From the front and to the left is the harbour. If you get tired of being hassled by store owners try Zeynep Hediyelik on Hesapci Street. The shop has quality items The lady owner is helpful and gracious. The prices are reasonable and she always gave us a discount without being asked. Azat Acar of Silk Road on Pasa Cami Street speaks English well and has consistently low prices - no bargaining. At he end of Hesapci Street, turn left toward the harbour and find a textile shop that advertizes "Hassle free shopping". The prices are marked, there's no bargaining and the owner sits outside and leaves you alone. There's a similar store around the corner. Don't bother doing a price comparison. They both share the same owner, who also has 3 other stores. Change money in the pedestrian street by the clock tower. There are several change offices and therefore competitive rates. You can get anywhere by tram or bus. Buy a credit card for 1.60 TL and as many rides as you require for 1.50 TL. Regular fare is 1.70. You only need one card per couple or family. DO NOT let a street shoe cleaner anywhere near your shoes until you have settled on a fee. These range fro 2 to 10 TL. There are a number of them, competition is fierce and they have more tricks than you can imagine.

Room Tip: Inner rooms on the courtyard are quieter. Sea view rooms face the mosque. If you have mobility dif...

if you want to spend time in the old town of Antalya, you can not find a better spot. the muezzin will wake you at a quarter to six every morning, and if you are lucky and willing to climb four floors (no elevators) you might have a partial ocean view.

first impression of the hotel is charming; however, the charm wears off after spending a few hours. staff is friendly but clearly overworked, esp. housekeeping; not the case for the manager, who is ever present and always scowling at the guests and does not appear to have the energy to say hello or even smile.

although supposedly renovated recently, the facilities give one the impression of falling apart. water is not always flowing, faucets and showers are ancient, the (numerous) stairs which remind of Fawlty Towers are ill-built, with rarely a step having the same rise or depth as the next one. badly lit at night, the evening ascent is treacherous. a quirk: we found that our room key also fit the lock of the next room (our friends) but not vice versa. what does that say about security, esp. since at check-in, you are strongly urged to buy access to the room safe at 2 Euros per night.

if you take half-board, as we have done, you may find yourself paying for a meal in one of the many restaurants in the area instead, foregoing esp. the evening buffet, which is uninspired, featuring lukewarm food that should be hot. you will also find that waiters push extremely expensive local wine, at roughly three times the cost of other restaurants in the old town. breakfast buffet is adequate but certainly nothing to write home about, with very weak and lukewarm coffee and margarine instead of butter. one very annoying item: waiters will come around offering freshly squeezed orange juice, without telling the guest that the charge is almost 9 liras per glass. this happened to us once only, but enough to ruin our breakfast that day.

given the reasonable rates combined with the location, I would still recommend the hotel but certainly not the food.

Room Tip: upstairs, facing the ocean, if you don't mind climbing four flights

I very much enjoyed my stay at Alp Pasa. Staff is very friendly and helpful, although I would have expected them to arrange a better guide for a day trip. Room was perfect, good bed, nice bath, but would have preferred slightly more light in the room. I had no problem with noise. The food was on the whole excellent, lots of choices and plenty of healthy dishes. I don't consume alcohol so can't comment on the price. I would happily go back to the hotel if in the area.

We stayed in a room with balcony, facing to inner garden. Building form is really complicated. Try to understand your rooms location before chosing it. You may prefer street facing rooms or inner garden facing rooms with balcony. Inner garden is really lovely both at night and day. Street looking rooms would be better to take advantage of the view of nostalgic narrow roads of the Old Town.

We found staff really friendly and kind at all departments. "Happy hours" before dinner and late night was a great surprise for us. Buy one drink, one is free. Quality Turkish coffee is a "must" for us. It was good too. Rooms were clean and tidy. Spare blankets and slippers were present. No hot water or air condition problem. Hanging on in cosy and unique restaurant was lovely. Good ambiance under dim light and stone walls feels like you are in a castle.
Good meals and open buffet. Grilled chicken/meat runs out fast and not much added.

Staying in the cores of Old Town Kaleiçi is a joyful feeling if you want a calm and silent holiday. Also to feel and explore the history and culture so close, this is a unique choice.

Room Tip: Must try "Ottoman Suits" if you can afford. This hotel is famous with its special ottoman...
