Owner description: A historical site not to be missed. Just off Atatürk Boulevard you’ll see the impressive three double arches of the gates, which were erected in 130 to celebrate the visit of Emperor Hadrian. Legend has it that in ancient times, the queen of Sheba passed through the middle arch on her way to Aspensos and spent a happy night with King Salomon. With the exception of the columns, the arch is made from white marble and is richly decorated.

“Very ancient gate”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

Hadrian was everywhere in Turkey. This gate is ancient with most of the original stone. Worth a look in the old town

“Beautiful ancient relic”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

Standing proud - this roman gate is a fantastic site right in the middle of town, amazing that it is still standing, lovely workmanship that has lasted the ages. Imagine what it must have looked like when new with the statues of Hadrian & family (now removed) on the top - what a tribute !! You can just walk up to it ( a Turkish Marble Arch ??) - a must see. Then please cross the main road to see the old (new) resin faux Roman statues - one roman soldier with helmet & shield sitting waiting for a bus, another, in a toga, using a mobile phone, another lifting his toga to pee on a cashpoint machine - weird AND funny

“Antalya old town”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

Really interesting place and an easy walk although some steps may be a challenge to some. Also a Turkish Market. Be prepared they can be a bit over the top. The rest of the town is worth checking out. Some good shopping

“Interesting to see”

If you go into Antalya, don't just shop but try to find some of the sights. We had difficulties finding this but were glad that we persevered.

“Interesting site but would be better if they opened up the upper floors”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

This is a great landmark to find your way around. It's the gateway to Kaleici (the old city) and back to the main town for the tram or buses to the beaches.

It is interesting history with parts of the gate built by different times. There is a staircase up to one of the towers but you can't get into the upper area. It would be great if you could go and explore.
