“Very good indeed.....just needs a few tweeks.”
Reviewed August 9, 2011

Weve just got back from a ten day stay at the Royal holiday palace after initially booking to stay at the Wings hotel, but as others have experienced we were asked if we would like to stay in the new sister hotel. So we did. In the deal we got a room upgrade to a junior suite which was very nice and clean (at first) . It had the feeling that we were the first to stay in it. Great.
The hotel has the wow factor when it comes to its finish. It would not look out of place on the vegas strip! Alot of money has been spent and it was very classy.
The food as very good and loads to choose from. For picky kids wanting chips and pizza to sea bass/bream, steaks etc and a vast selection of deserts .....really very good indeed. Service wasnt bad regarding waiters, but could be better.
The outside pool is wonderful and stretches off to the sea. Plenty of beds (even though you still have to put the towels out to beat the germans etc). More beds on the beach under huge sun sails & a great pier with bar and beds etc. Wonderful diving off that.
Downsides are with it being a new hotel i dont think its run as efficiently as a 5* should be, but its getting there. Our room needed a better clean towards the end of our stay. They never wiped round the tops, hoovered etc & after we used the coffee cups on the first day they where never returned to us. Strange. The eve entertainment if im honest was poor. Not 5 star.It was just the entertainment staff that couldnt put on a class act. Still, with a few drinks down you, i will laugh at anything.
Russians. What a rude breed. No manners. It must be their way. They must hold the record for the highest piled plates of food ever.............and then leave most of it. Also they do budgie smugglers.....Very badly. haha
So for us it ticked the main boxes. Great hotel, Great food and drink, not too far from the airport , clean towels, beds & loads of sun.........but that goes without saying. 45 degrees most days.

We were originally booked in at Royal Wings Hotel (sister one) but upon arrival we were offered what they considered an upgrade to the Royal Holiday Palace which was newer. We agreed as they had offered us a room upgrade as well to a Duplex.

Positives of our stay were :-

The actual hotel is fabulous - marble everywhere and crystal chandeliers which were massive and very stunning.

Swimming pool is huge and therefore you are never overcrowded. It meanders on and on.

Food is of great variety and very very good quality and available almost 24 hours a day.

Drinks are very good measures and not watered down.

Spa is luxurious and very much worth a visit.

Parasols and sunbeds are abundant.

Games room is absolutely huge and has everything that any kid could want and most adults to play including 2 bowling lanes, 3 pool tables and table tennis. One of the best games rooms I've ever come across in a hotel.

Negatives:-

Staff have poor understanding of English and this can be a tad frustrating!

Service is very poor in the bar area and generally in the restaurant areas which is such a shame.

Lack of toiletries in the bathrooms.

Not many English tourists mainly Russians and Eastern Europeans which are sometimes a tad rude!

The evening shows could be so much better and not what I would expect from a 5 star hotel.

However, if you want to just relax and chill by the pool and are happy to go to the bar areas and get your own drinks and enjoy good food then it is an ideal hotel for you.

Room Tip: Don't recommend Duplex as upstairs very dark for the adults - best get a double with a view over...

I'll keep it as short as possible :-

The hotel ground, facilities and wow factor 5 out of 5.
The house keeping ( towels,bed making, cleanliness ) 1 out of 5
Food and drinks 4 out of 5
Staff (we tipped Adem on day 1 and he was our best friend from then on) so he gets 4 out of 5 but only a 3 for the other staff ( so busy and not enough of them)
Entertainment 2 out of 5

I honestly think that with time this will be a fantastic hotel. Quite a few teething problems but nothing major. Not 5 star yet but the potential is there.

I did realise that the louder you were and the more rude you could be , the more attention you got. Unfortunately for us Brits we queue, wait our turn and say please and thank you. So sharpen your elbows and forget your p's and q's and you'll get served quicker !

Would I go again ? Maybe !

Room Tip: We had room number 1930 . It was a duplex with a front of hotel view. Very quiet as we were next to...

We stayed at this hotel for seven nights in July. I must say that the hotel itself is beautiful! The food is good nothing special but good. The thing that bothered me most having a child I couldn't find any hard boiled eggs for breakfast and when I asked the waiter he put one I. The microwave to cook it!!! Lines were something long at the pool bar and waiting for food. The most that needs improving is the staff's rudeness. I would wait a while before going to this hotel....it needs a bit of work!!

Just returned from a week at the royal holiday palace, but did originally book a 14 night stay at royal wings. Stayed one week at each! Overall to keep it simple this hotels are the same. The differences are.............
Royal wings has better service but suppose this is due to the fact it has been open a few years more. The gardens at the RW are larger and more mature, again due to the hotel being open longer. The staff at the holiday Palace we did find to be rather rude, on the other hand the RW staff cannot do enough, they are pleasant, helpful and love the kids but not enough to annoy. The entertainment team in the RW really make the effort to get to know all the guests and seem to really enjoy what they do. We found the air con to be alot better at the RW as the rooms are smaller this was more effective. Anyone that stays at the holiday Place will not be dissapointed as this is an excellent hotel especially for familys, the facilities are second to none. However, value for money. If the price for the RW is cheaper would definetely book for there. I believe that you pay for the fact the hotel is new. It has the wow factor when you walk in, it is a stunning hotel. Depending on what you want from a holiday the RW is probably better. Both have the ignorant Russians and Germans. Forget the manners we bring our kids up to have!! Queing, manners and general courtesy go straight out the window.

beautiful surroundings but that is as far as it goes sadly. The room was not cleaned thoroughly, staff were very slow to serve us, towels were left from previous day. i would expect clean towels daily in a 5* hotel. the breakfast room was absolute caos. staff were not professional enough to cope and were not ready at han to help. the tables were not cleaned quickly enough for turnaround. .i have been to 3 other hotels on this stretch of beach and all are far better. i will not return.
other guest have mentioned the thin walls - it is true; extremely bad.
the service at dining and room clean is what i would expect from a 3 star hotel. choose somewhere else; there are good ones on this stretch. i hope this helps

This is the first time I have ever written on tripadvisor, but feel I need to leave comments on this particular Hotel ( written whilst still at the Hotel).
The Hotel itself and facilities are superb espesially for children, however in our view and many that we have spoken to - the house keeping lets it down, two days without towells in our room, evidently we were not alone on this , rooms not cleaned, by that i mean vacumed, again other guest also commented on this, dont get me wrong this did not spoil our holiday, but many small niggly things amounted to a larger one, chipped glasses, & crockery, guest eating in shorts & sandals even though they stipulate long trousers etc, but do not enforse the rule. The canteen sorry main resturant does a good job for servicing 1500 guest, I dont think I need say more. Also what did surprise me was they do not apear to have theme nights in the main resturant, ( we ate and paid extra in Al La Carte vertually every night) which incidently are excellent- but as mentioned on other reviews service poor due to being understaffed. Wi Fi connection good, but internet speed very slow ( to slow to be any use at times)- for those doing a little work !!

Apart from that its fine.
